I think it means exactly that. He’s a NCB. He has the ball at his feet. He takes lower risk so all he wants to do is get rid of it, quickly, in the least flash way possible. So he’s booting it forward, ideally to one of your attackers. In that NCB’s eyes if it reaches your forward he’s delighted, job done. If by miracle he’s added a little curve to it, bending it round the oppo CB to put ur CF thru on goal, he’s stripped naked and doing cartwheels celebrating and declaring himself the new Bobby Moore.

I can’t help much with how to deal with it other than I just ignore it, and then give them individual shouts of demand more/fire up to try to get their minds on the job in hand. The “ preferred to stay on bench” I’m particularly struggling with. Seems SI is moving towards the everyone is a sulking Ronaldo. In a recent game I had two U21 players on bench, was comfortably winning, brought them both on around 75th min, even tho one was showing complacent. Within minutes of being on pitch the other is wanting to have stayed on the bench. IRL I can’t imagine u21 players having this attitude to getting first team minutes. Nervous, sure. If anything there should be a setting that shows they are overly excited and chomping at the bit to get on, much more realistic to real life. Or maybe SI needs to improve teamtalk at sub time where u can say to a youngster go take the opportunity of this x minutes and show you deserve being with the first team. And I don’t think I am doing anything wrong in shouts etc because the first 11 on the pitch, none were showing as complacent. So following with interest to see if any smart solutions are offered!

Is anyone seeing a significantly higher number of yellow cards in fm23? im playing as West Ham, now in 2026, things have been going really well so I’m happy with my tactic etc, but our yellow card count is ridiculous. In 14 PL matches we’ve had 50 yellows & 3 reds, next highest is 36. My CB Todibo has 10 in 14 matches. Yet his stats are 16 for all of tackling, marking, anticipation, composure. And has only 14 for aggression. In 15 matches he’s made 31 tackle attempts, winning 23, committing 24 fouls. With those player stats he should be capable of less bookings. Nico Barella, who granted has 19 for aggression & 18 for bravery but 17 for tackling has played 6 matches, 4 yellow, 2 red. I play a higher def line & a high press but I DONT tell them to get stuck in. And I instruct my CB to drop off more so in theory they should have more time thinking how to tackle! We are averaging 53% possession & 3rd in table so it’s not as tho we are under the cosh and players are making desperate tackles Anyone else seeing this as well or any suggestions?!

Great thread, inspired me to seek a new laptop, I travel quite a bit with work so looking to combine something small for travelling, but powerful enough to give me a fast fm! Need windows based rather than apple so I can pretend I’m working! Have a decent budget of £2000-£2500 so don’t want to get it wrong! Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated

Similar to others I hit the encourage button as quickly after a goal conceded. If other 10-15 mins more we are still pathetic I’ll come in with the demand more. I have to say though they are the two shouts I’ll use 90% of the time whatever is happening in the game. Praise seems to work when 3 goals up, but other than that does anyone have specific success with any of the other shouts?
