  1. Uruguay - Villa Teresa Season 4 - Division 2 Season Summary Unbelievable.. for the fourth year in a row we lost in the promotion play-off final. So far I've missed out due to 1 point, 1 goal goal difference and now a penalty shootout! The problem for us this season was the unprecedented amount of injuries we got mid-season. It felt like a key player a week was going down. But once they all got back fit we finisehd strongly Penalties!!!! AAAARGH! Youth Another good looking youth intake, but I'm sure its more because of the poor quality of my squad rather than strong youth players Three elite talents is not bad, but who knows how they'll turn out? None of them look amazing.... Finances losing around 400k a season atm. No way am I getting upgrades! Career
  2. Uruguary - Villa Teresa 2025 - Season 3 Division 2 Season Summary Groundhog Season! We missed out on automatic promotion by one point and lost in the play off final again. For the third season in a row! We weren't helped by our first chpice centre backs both been suspended for the final, and only having two natural centre backs in the whole squad Youth Another promising preview - i always like seeing the phrase 'golden generation;, even if it rarely ever is. The intake itself was pretty good again. Not as promising as the previous year but considering how low my facilities are, I can't really argue. Finances and Upgrades Still got no money! In a sad attempt to try and get some income so we can start upgrading our facilities I sold off some of our better youth prospects. I hate doing it but sometimes you got to take the short term hit for long term gain. Hopefully it'll pay off cos the transfer fees just pay off our debts, and we're still in debt! Career Keep plugging away! It's quite nice in Uruguay, and we've had three really good seasons so far. It's still a young team, youth players are integrating nicely, it's looking positive
  3. congratulations! it had been on the cards for a while! Happy for the people of Ilkeston!
  4. ha ha, you're not that only one! @HanziZoloman keep going, it's only a matter of time now! and hopefully then you'll start flying up the leagues. That first promotion is always the hardest in England, usually takes me year too
  5. Uruguay - Villa Teresa 2024- Season 2 Division 2 Season Summary Pretty much a carbon copy of the first season as we again started with a win in the pre-league competition Torneo Compentencia, which set us up very nicely for the league proper We went through periods in the proper league where we looked unbeatable but at other times we were really poor. A poor end to the season meant we had to make do with a 4th placed finish. Still well above the media prediction though so we can't be too upset. But then we saw the combined table, and I got a little bit upset. We missed out on automatic promotion by goal difference! So into the play-offs we go, for the second season running. and for the second season running we got through to the final! and lost. Youth An interesting preivew which was 5 star, promising a golden generation, yet only offered C grades for each position. Which way would the actual intake fall? It fell very nicely indeed thank you! some of these look really promising prospects! There were so many elite talents i couldn't fit them all in one go (but there was only one more and i couldn't be bothered to take his pic as well). Hopefully this lot can keep our good start to the save going in the next few seasons! Career So, two seasons in a row narrowly missing out promotion. Can it be third tinme lucky? So far I've used pretty much legacy players exclusively though. Next season I might start trying to bring a few of the better youth players through. Also, our finances are a dumpster fire so it may be we have to start flogging off some of our star first-teamers anyway. we'll see!
  6. I didn't get the option until I won the Champions League, which was a bit frustrating
  7. Oh really? I didn't realise that! that's a lovely touch, thanks SI!
  8. Villa Teresa FC Uruguay Season 1 - Division 2 Season Summary So Uruguay is a bit bonkers. First of all you start with a little mini competition. Two groups of six, winners play each other in the final. We did brilliantly, topping our group and then cantering to victory in the final. I didn't realise, but it meant we'd automatically qualified for the promotion playoffs as winners even before a league game had kicked off! In the league proper we did ok, going on some nice runs of victories which meant we were always there or thereabout. Even better, at the end of the season they combine the two competitions for a combined league table! Through to the play offs, we made the final where we lost to a 116th minute goal in extra-time. So no promotion but a brilliant first season! Youth Nice thing about Uruguay is the youth intake happens before the season kicks off, so any good players can go straight into the squad from the very start. This year we got a very nice preview. Excellent intake plus double A is very nice! but what kind of intake does it get us? Pretty, pretty good really! An elite talent is always a nice thing to have. We'll see what it means in the context of our current squad in the next couple of seasons or so Finances and Upgrades Biggest problem in South America is money. There's just no money in the domestic leagues so you need to be selling your youths in order to get the cash to get the upgrades. But when they're fairly limited that's not the easiest thing to do. I have got a good squad, but only in the context of the Uruguayan Second Division, so..... Career Really enjoyed my first season! Hopefully second season is as successful.
  9. Uruguay Villa Teresa FC I can't stay away for long! Some of my favourite saves were in South America so here I am, back again. Having completed Brazil and Argentina already I wanted to go somewhere new so uruguay it is! Villa Teresa is the chosen team Starting stats are..... pretty low But when you see their stadium in real life it kinda makes sense! Let's go conquer Uruguay!!!
  10. I dream of getting a player like him. It's on of the reason I keep coming back to this challenge!
  11. My lad did it today:- 1000 club goals, all for me. He also scored 96 international gaols for Germany so it's 1096 career goals!
  12. Aachen FC Update: It took longer than I hopes but Pascal Meier finally hit 1000 club goals for me! I naively expected some sort of news item or something like that but there was nothing! But he did it, look at his career all time goals here:- In only 882 games as well! First time I ever managed to get one of my players score 1000 for me, I think I'm more proud of that than I am (finally) completing the challenge in Germany I might have a try with a smaller country before FM24. Maybe head back to Uruguay for another try there, I always enjoy a South American save.
  13. Here we go - the best players from our Champions League winning side! Saso Todorovski - GK One of the hardest things I find in these saves is getting a real top quality keeper. this lad was sop good I gave him his debut at 16 and he kept his place from then on. Scary to think just how good he can be in a few seasons time Carston Weiss Another youngster who was already incredible when he popped into the youth intake. it was only a matter of time before he became a superstar. He went straight into the team at 17 and just gets better and better Marcel Breyer Wow, what a player! Most important player for both us and the German national team Adrian Gorupec My little Croatian superstar! So good Croatia gave him his first cap at 16 when he was still in my U19 squad. Just gone from strength to strength from there Seko Toure The spiritual successor to Meier. Looked so good at 18 he forced me to change from a 4231 to a 433 to fit him into the side. Was the most important attacker this season and scored 35 goals, becoming top scorer. That pace and acceleration..... Pascal Meier What can I say? winner of 12 successive Balon d'Ors, scorer of 988 club goals, winner of everything! But at his age, and those physical stats, his days are numbered and I fear he win't make 100 Germany goals, which would be a travesty Youth Facility Update Soon as I complete the challenge what does the board do? let me finally max out the youth facilities! Unbelievable!
  14. Aachen FC - Germany 2062/63 Bundesliga Champions - 2051, 2055, 2061 DFB-Pokal Winners - 2061, 2062 Champions League Winners - 2063 !!!!!!!!CHALLENGE COMPLETE!!!!!!! Season Summary We did it!!!! but how did we do it? well.... Champions League League Stage Some really good results in the league stage meant we were never in any doubt of getting through, particularly after that 5-2 beating of PSG. A disappointing draw in the final game meant we had to go into the knockout play off round though. Champions League Knockout Play Off Round Lazio looked like a proper test so I wasn't that happy with the draw. We got a good 1-1 in Rome but nothing prepared me for how well we did at home. We blew them away! Champions League Round of 32 Porto! A nice draw I thought as I fancied our chances against them. First leg went well but going away with only a two goal advantage is never particularly easy. And so it proved, as they scored 4 in portugal, although our attacking approach meant we scored three to go through by one goal Champions League Quarter Final Espanyol are good in this save so it wasn't as easy a draw as it looks. They battered us a few seasons ago at the same stage so I was wary coming into it. After a terrible leaguerun, with three bad performances in a row before heading into the first leg, I was downright pessimistic. To say i was surprised by the first leg result would be an understatement - you could have knocked me down with the weather! to then win in Barcelona was just the icing on the cake. Lovely stuff! Champions League Semi-Final Stade Rennais awaited us! They're another team who have been immense in this save. They've won Ligue 1 18 times since 2037! So I expected our run to be over to be honest. But a 1-1 draw in France got me a little excited. The return leg was close - it went to a penalty shootout after another 1-1! We scored all 5 of ours and they missed one! Champions League Final Our first ever final! Against Spurs! Current Premier League holders! 2060 Champions League winners! A team we'd only beaten once in six previous attempts! It was a close game - they took the lead and looked like holding on. But 2 minutes into stoppage time Pascal Meier got free down the left hand channel and drilled a low ball across the box for Toure to stick home. Extra time brought no further goals so penalties it was.... Another perfect set of penalties and we'd done it!!!!!! Players So here are the players that did it! It was the new batch of wonderkids that did it in the end. They were fantastic. For Meier to captain the side and be playing at 35 is testemant to what a legend he is. Look at those all time appearances and goals! 987 club goals! Breyer and Gorupex were the key players. They dominated midfield between them and allowed our fron three the freedom to go grab goals Todorovski, Weiss and Toure all made their debuts for the German national team in the same match, which was exciting! Wonderkids Here's a list of all the wonderkids I've had throughout the save. Meier clearly the best, Gorupec and Breyer probably the next best. So now what? I'm going to keep the save goin until Pascal Meier has scored his 1000th club goal! We can then both retire happy! edit: @darren1983 sorry, another one to add to the hall of fame
  15. Aachen FC - Germany 2061/62 Bundesliga Champions - 2051, 2055, 2061 DFB-Pokal Winners - 2061, 2062 Champions League Winners - Not yet! Season Summary Another good season only ruined by club captain, and 30 year old grown man, Mario Gartner throwing his toys out the pram when I questioned why he'd want to leave such a settled dressing room. So he's leaving at the end of the season, as it was the only way to rebalance the morale! So his little tantrum ruined our league chances but after 40 yuears of comical under-performance in the cup we only went and won it for the second year running! Champions League Again we start as underdogs with bookies quoting 500-1 for us. And so it showed as we struggled through the league stage and then got knocked out by Arsenal in the playoff round Players/Youth/Pascal Meier Pascal Meier - now 34 and his scoring rate has dropped, although he still won the top league scorer. 966 total club goals now! youth - a really good preview and possible intake! I do like a 5 star preview/intake! THREE elite talents at this stage is unreal! But none of them actually look any good so..... Wonderkids Another one!
  16. i have! he's 34 now and just hit his 966th goal for me. He's got 1000 if you count international games but I wasn't manager for them. He's gonna stay in the team until he hits 1000, I'll let you know!
  17. Aachen FC - Germany 2060/61 Bundesliga Champions - 2051, 2055, 2061 DFB-Pokal Winners - 2061 Champions League Winners - Not yet! Season review Our best season yet! We stuck with out 4-3-3, with Meier in the middle of the front 3, and it paid dividends. The league was tight, only 3 goals in it, but still it's nice to win it again. The biggest surprise was the DFB as I always suck in domestic cup competitions in this challenge, mainly due to my using youth players all the time. But this season it all came good and we won it, to win the double! and as an added bonus.... the U19s did it too!!!! Champions League was less successful though. we did ok in the league section to make it through to the knockout round. We got our revenge against Ajax but the next round paired us with the favourites, Spurs. They are ridiculously good in this save for some reason, i can only assume Daniel Levy finally left, and were the current holders. they were too good for us, beating us over two legs. Players/Youth Meier is 33 now and his powers are finally starting to wane. For the first time in his career he scored fewer goals than games played, with a mere 38 goals in 46 games. Brings him to 933 total club goals now! The young players coming through are looking the best bunch yet, with three in the top 50 wonderkid list. Grorupec looks like a future balon d'or winner to me, but we'll see I guess. The youth intake was another good one as well, it's all very exciting! even 40 seasons in! Todorovski looks crazy good! Only 15 and that CA? he's almost first team ready already! So, let's keep going! Until at least Meier gets 1000 club goals and then until I get bored. But I do like bringing youth players through and i really like my youth prospects at the minute
  18. Germany - Aachen FC 2059/60 - Bundesliga Bundesliga Champions - 2051,2055 Champions League Winners - Not Yet Season Summary We're falling into a pattern - pretty good in the league, not quite good enough in Europe. We were in with a shout for the title again but a defeat to Dortmund around Easter meant we lost top spot and they never looked back. So second it is. Champions League was more difficult, and we again struggled a little in the league stage, finishing in the last possible qualifying position. We snuck past Monaco but Inter were too strong in the next round. So the elusive search for that Champions League title continues! Players/Youth The only reason I'm carrying on is the amount of good youth prospects we have at the minute - that and seeing if Pascal Meier can get to 1000 club goals. In all my years playing this game I've never had anyone get 1000 goals. I changed formation this year from a 4231 to a 433 - partly because Meier is now 32 and I need to start thinking about replacements, but also because my wingers were poop and could also play as strikers. Meier didn't struggle as part of a front 3 rather than a lone striker - he hit 48 goals in 45 games to make it to 895 total club goals. The youth preview was rubbish - only 3 and a half stars! - so I was really surprised with this intake:- Weiss looks like a potential wonderkid:- What with Weiss and the youth team doing this, it looks quite exciting for the next few years Wonderkids I got another wonderkid! Being that he made his Croatia debut even before he'd got out of our youth team, it wasn't a huge surprise. Shows how important affiliate teams can be! Here's the updated list of all my wonderkids so far and how they're doing/did. It's kinda interesting..... especially that weird dry period from 2047-2051
  19. Aachen FC - Germany Bundesliga 2058/59 Season Summary Champions League - A really poor start left us in danger of not qualifying from the league stage. We made it with a must win final game to head to the knockout round where we faced Espanyol. We weren't very good and went out. League - much more successful season. Finished second but with our highest points total so far Players/Youth Pascal Meier is now 31, still winning balon d'ors, and still scoring. 55 goals in 43 games this season! as long as he keeps going, so will I! Plus, i got some really nice youth prospects coming through. the pick of the bunch from this season looks like possible Meier replacement.... plus, another wonderkid!
  20. Aachen FC - Germany 2057/58 - Bundelsiga Season Summary League - started amazingly well, easily beating Bayern and Dortmund in the first month and went 6 points clear at one stage. But couldn't maintain it..... Champions League - I thought this might be our year! we were so good in the league stage, apart from a little blip against Leeds, easily qualifying for the knockout stage. We played brilliantly to get past Liverpool and got Athletico Madrid in the quarter-final. It seemed a nice draw, and a 2-2 draw in Madrid suggested so too. We were good in the hone leg but somehow managed to lose 2-0. Really frustrating! Players/Youth We got a new wonderkid! This fella, who i tend to play left back:- I have a feeling I might have a future wonderkid here too. Made his Croatia debut at 16 while still in my U19 team! Pascal Meier is now 30 but still as good as ever. One of the reasons I'm still going is I want to see him hit 1000 club goals. Up to 792 now! He is good. look at all his balon d'ors! So I'll keep going a couple seasons more, although i don't think I'm likely to head into Padders territory
  21. Aachen - germany 2056/57 - Bundesliga Season Summary League well, the goal was to get back in the Champions League and we made it - just. It's a young team now, with Meier, Mattner and Do Rego the only over 26s in the first XI. and not for long, they're all in their 30s now! Europa League - I didn't really care, but it would have been nice to win. We didn't, Milan did us with two gaols in extra-time to knock us out. D'oh! Youth intake looked good with 3 elite talents, including this fella! surely another future wonderkid with that valuation!
  22. yeah, sorry about that, i was so mad about missing out on Champions League at the end I forgot all the rest! Here's the two new wonderkids:- Marcel Breyer 52A looked like a potential wonderkid since day 1 and went straight into the first team at 17. Physicals still need a bit of work but he looks like he'll be amazing for years to come. Won golden boy, only my second ever player to do it! Ilkka Lehtinen 53D Finnish, can play up front and centre mid as well as AMC. Made debut for Finland at 17, made 19 appearances scoring 13 goals before declaring for germany once he became eligible! at the minute pencilled in as long term replacement for meier There's 2 or 3 16 year olds I have a feeling might be wonderkids also, so looking quite good at the minute Pascal Meier Poor season from him last season, only scored 56 in 46 games! honestly, he's ludicrous. Won his 9th consecutive balon d'or Still hopefully got a few years left in him. He is key to me completing this challenge soon i think.
  23. Aachen - Germany Bundesliga 2055/56 Season Summary League - really frustrating. Lost the opening two games, never really recovered, missed out on Champions League next season Champions League - we did much better, particularly in the league section, finishing high enough to avoid the play-off. got Liverpool in quarter final and we did alright, just not quite good enough though. So, at least another two seasons if I'm gonna complete this thing! Couple of new wonderkids come through, so you never know!
  24. Aachen FC - Germany 2054/55 - Bundesliga Season Summary Gonna keep these short and sweet from now on as all I need is the Champions League to complete the challenge (like it's that easy!) League - we won it for the second time! Champions League - struggled through the league stage, got Bayern in the knock out round and they did us 3-0 in the second leg I got a new wonderkid come through so I'll keep trying for a few seasons more. Plus, Pascal Meier is still only 27. While I still have him, I have a chance!
  25. he's definitely the best I've ever had, although he doesn't really look as good as he actually is. If that makes sense...
