  1. Argentina Premier League 2047 (season 26 i think?) Season Summary Did i win the Copa Libertadores and complete the challenge? I got through to the second round and went into it on a run of only 2 defeats in 33 mayches. And then drew and lost away to Palmieras. So we go again..... Leauge - We didn't lose until the 30th game! and then lost 5 of the last 8!!! Wonderkids Do i have one? do i flip..... In my last two saves (this one and Novara in Italy, over nearly 50 seasons) i've not had one wonderkid! do they even exist? Ah well, i'll keep plugging away, here's my career summary. it's getting long now!
  2. as a general rule big countries mean domestic titles difficult but continental is easier Small countries domestic is easier but continental much harder, at times impossible. With this challenge its all about the journey, you very, very rarely complete it but it is fun!
  3. good luck! I had a try with Novara and really struggled! I'm not sure why but I just couldn't get it going at all. Hope you have better luck!
  4. Argentina Premier League 2046 - Season 25 Season Summary So, did I win the Libertadores and complete the challenge? We finished 3rd in the league Players Have I found my first wonderkid? Maybe, maybe not. This fella here:- I gave him a start in the Libertadores group stage and he scored a hattrick. So, I played him again and he scored again. After 4 games he scored 8, after 8 games he'd scored 16. After 16 games he'd scored 23!!!! And then after 23 he'd still scored 23, he had a bad run then. But he ended up our top scorer with 34 goals. Could he be our first elusive wonderkid? Career Can I keep going until I finally win the Libertadores? Maybe.....
  5. ican't quite remember how to use it if that worked then yes!
  6. you use that eye/spoiler tag from the top bit. next to the smiley face. i wish i could explain it better!
  7. Bluey is amazing! Here's the link for the instant result skin. I love it! https://www.fmscout.com/a-wannachup-fm22-instant-result-skin.html
  8. Argentina Premier League 2045 Season Summary So, not really bothered by the league anymore, which is sort of weird really. We did ok but were never really in the race as River Plate ran away with it. But third is no disgrace Copa Libertadores - the big one! Can I finally win it and complete the challenge? Short answer, no. We got all the way to the Semis again but got battered over two legs by Santos of Brazil. So we try again next season! Players We got a good team but STILL no wonderkids! and only one international; our keeper who has 3 caps for Argentina. it's a bit weird! Finances Since I started looking short term rather than long term? well..... lol Youth Still, good news about the chocolate oranges, we've had our best youth intake in years! Career
  9. i got the same problem. Do you use instant result? complete game changer for me, means i can do seasons so much quicker. I can get two or three games in during an episode of Bluey!
  10. @glennuk awesome job!!! Really enjoying your journey, particularly as worthing is just down the road from me! Even if you come straight back down the money alone will be worth it. Premier league money is just insane! You can max everything out straight away!!! Good luck for next season!
  11. Argentina Premier League 2044 (season 23) Season Summary League - we were reigning champions so I wasn't too fussed about the league and just wanted to make sure we got top 6 to qualify for the Libertadores, which I'm focussing on. And we were ok in the league, a little inconsistent, but with 7 games to go we were 10 points clear of 7th place and looking comfortable. With 2 games to go we were only 1 point clear and looking really vulnerable. Luckily, we scraped wins in those last two games to just about qualify. As league defences go, it was pretty poor to be honest Copa Libertadores - But never mind, becuase this is the one I want. And in the group stage? Vasca are good but still a nice easy qualification. So into round 2.... Fantastic second round result! we were great. So, quarter final! Our nemesis Vasco da Gama! and we did it!! that second leg we were really under the kosh and my keeper made 14 saves on his way to getting a man of the match award So.... semi final! and it proved a bridge too far. Flamengo were far too good. D'oh!!!! Players So this team are now costing me 350k a week in wages, which is far more than I can afford. But i'm going to take the club into financial oblivion in my chase for the Copa Libertadores. Death or glory!!!! Still no wonderkids though, which is just bizarre really. Finances An absolute binfire. Projected to lose 20m a season! lol, i don't care any more! It's either the sack or the Libertadores. There's no middle ground any more! Career Can I do it? Signs point to unlikely at the minute to be honest but I'm gonna keep pushing it. But I am now at the stage where I'm looking at short term glory over long term gain, whereas it's the complete opposite for the first 10-20 (!) seasons Youth? another golden generation and full of strikers and attacking midfielders again. What is that all about?
  12. Argentina Premier League 2043 (season 22) Season Summary I'll keep these summaries short from now, I'm sure everyone is bored silly of my Argentinian adventures. Trouble is, I can't quit! I'm so close! League - we were brilliant, unbeaten for the first 20 games and at one point a good 10 points ahead. Our form slipped at the end as I prioritised the Libertadores but we still won quite easily Copa Libertadores - Here's the big one! Group stage was fairly easy peasy Into the second round:- We never got further than the QF before!!! The semi final was against Cruzeiro and we were amazing in the first leg! so into our first ever final! Win and the challenge is over!!!!!! And....... Players We managed to keep all but one of the team from the season before which really helped with the success we had this season. Trouble is we've had around 15 seasons of youth intakes with minimal defensive players appearing. I'm drowning in attacking midfielders and strikers! Youth So will we get defenders in this intake??? Signs point to..... no Wonderkids Most amazing thing about this save is I've almsot completed it and about to enter 2044 and I've still had zero wonderkids come through! I've only had one make the next gen top 50 list as well. I've never known such a wonderkid free youth save before! Luckily Argentina has such a high youth rating and relatively low league rating that the players I am getting are more than good enough. Just a bit odd! Finances Suddenly looking a lot healthier thanks to the Libertadores run. And we move into our new 40k stadium next season too! Things were so uncharactersitcally positive that the board even agree to this:- Career
  13. Argentina Premier League 2042 (season 21) Season Summary So, the main problem with Argentina is the complete lack of money. Once your players reach 21/22 they want contracts with wages that are completely unsustainable. The smart move it to keep selling them players off but that means you can never really build a great team. This team was the best I'd built so far and won us the league so I felt sure they could take the Libertadores for us. It's got to be the last season for them though, as look at the projection. At least 4 or 5 of these buggers have got to go sadly..... So how did they do in their last hurrah? League - Brilliant. Really good. Like super good. Up until 4 games to go when we lost to River and then Independiente to finish third. But honestly, Argentina is nuts. Boca were unbeaten until matchday 29!!!! But we beat both them and River in the league this season (and they beat us in return) so we've definitely arrived as one of the big boys. Our points total was the same as when we won the league as well! Copa Libertadores - The big one! Could we do it? Well, we'd have to get past River Plate in the quarter final. And we didn't, losing 2-1 at home and 3-2 away. Goddammit River!!!! Cup - Traditionally I totally suck at domestic cup competitions. No idea why. Except this season we went and won it! Beating Boca in the semi and River in the final. But it's scant consolation really, it's the libertadores I really want! Players So here are the best XI I've had so far, and probably the last time these players ever appear together. It's a sad, sad day.... I might try and keep hold of Sosa and Merlo as long as possible though. They're the best ones! And also because it annoyes how hugely undervalued Argentinian players are! I'd get 5/6m at best for them and they'd be worth 30/40m in a Euro team, easy! Youth So here's the weird thing. It's 2042 and.... Wonderkids Still none! not one! zilch! First save I can ever remember where I've got this far in without a single wonderkid. Surely it's gotta be soon..... Will this year be the year? A very promising preview!!! But less promising intake Not one elite talent? I was about to smash my laptop in a rage when i check Gomez. He looks way too good to be only a 3 star prospect, surely? That looks hugely promising to me! Finances So..... this is weird. I finsiehd the season with 18m debt and a depressing beyond tablets projection. And up there I wrote about how I'll have to break up my favourite team to survive. and then... The board cleared the debt with a 19m loan and gave me 7.5m to cover costs. So we suddeny went to 10m in the bank!!! Lol! So i immediately spent it and decided to keep the team going as long as possible, sensible financial management be damned! The board offered me a new contract too with one of the objectives being to repair the finances. Less than a week later? Lol and so.... Career So during the process of writing this end of season review I've gone from the depths of despair to the heights of mindless optimism. Let's go again!
  14. Argentina Premier League 2041 (season 20) Season Summary So, after our league win last season could we repeat the feat this season? Well, no, but it was anotheer successful season. The main problem is it's such a strong league that any small slip up gets punished, so even though we had a great finish going 12 unbeaten at the end we couldn't get close to the top 2 in the end. We only took 3rd on the very last day! Copa Libertadores - but really, who cares about the league? We already won that! It was all about the CopLib! We got through our group easily enough and got a nice draw in the second round against Guraini of Paraguay, who we managed to get past fairly easily. Into the quarter finals and our first real test - Palmeiras of Brazil. We won the first leg 2-1, lost the seond leg 3-2 after they scored a 90th minute winner. But there's no away goals so it went to penalties, which we lost. So maybe next year? Players Managed to keep pretty much the same team as last year. They're growing nicely. Especially Roman Gimenez 34B who is now so good everybody elses star rating fell in response to him. He's not gonna be here for long though as he's got a ridiculously low release fee. It's one of the most annoying things about Argentina, nearly every player insists on them! Youth A fairly poor preview and intake. It encouraged me to splash out 200k on a new HOYD, who is a huge improvement. We'll see what he can come up with next year! So here he is, the brand new HoYD! Finances and Upgrades The board announced this, which is a bit scary given our current finances Career
  15. and i still got lucky! previous 4 seasons River Plate got 97, 95, 88 and 87 points. they were ridiculous!
  16. Argentina Premier League 2040 (Season 19) Season Summary Well, this was nice! League - River beat us game 3 but after that we were great and won 6 in a row. It took us top and we managed to stay there until the midway point. With 14 games left to play the table looked like this, with River lurking ominously behind us Whenever we slipped up, River seemed to slip up as well, until with 3 games to go we were 3 points ahead. But the next game was away at River. If they won, thy'd be level on pints with 2 games to play. But.... we only went and won 2-1! so although we lost the final game of the season, it didn't matter. We had already won the title!!! Our secret? well. Copa Libertadores - we had to go into the qualifying rounds. Not a problem, there's usually not a lot of quality in there. I should be able to play the reserve team and still comfortably qualify. THe only possible banana skins are the Brazilian teams, and this time Corinthians were in there. And they are good. And obviously, we drew them. Won the first 1-0 but lost the second leg and went out So it meant no distractions for the rest of the campaign, meaning we were able to keep fitness high Players Not only that, but we got lucky with injuries, with very few all season! This meant we couold keep a nice consistent side all season, always at full fitness and morale as well. It really makes a huge difference! Romain Gimenez 34B was the breakout star this season. His fifth season in the first team but up until now he's been only ok. But he really outdid himself this year and seemed to improve week upon week. He's now easily our best player Matias Portillo 26C really wants to play centre back but he's also our best left back as well. He'll definitely end up there eventually, he's looking amazing Wonderkids So, weirdly, I won the league with precisely zero wonderkids! I've enever gone this far in this challenge without having one, let alone winning the league as well. Youth A very nice preview and intake but oh my god, they're all striker and attacking midfielders again! I forgot to take a screenshot but there were 5 elite talents! and 3 of them were AMC!!! goddamit..... I also got this lad, which was kinda weird. Was not expecting an Irish fella in my intake! Finances and Upgrades My training and youth facility upgrades came through! So we now got lots of lovely facilities! But not a lot of money..... The board also promised this, which is disconcertingly vague Career Just the Copa Libertadores to go now! and so far we've been nowhere near!
  17. Argentina Premier League 2039 (season 18) Season Summary League - yeah, sorry about this, especially after @dkouvjust completed the challenge (congrats btw!!!), but it's another boring, groundhog season for us. Started well, faded mid-season when injuries/transfers/international competitions kick in, recover to qualify for the Copa Libertadores. Copa Libertadores - again, same as the last few seasons. We get through the group stage easily, the second round comes during our mid-season slump where we have very few fit players, and we go out to a hlaf decent side. This season Atletico Mineiro beat us 5-2 after we drew 0-0 in the first leg at our place. Dammit. This challenge is gonna take a while..... Players So, it's eay to pinpoint where it all went wrong! First half of the season we were doing well with our best player Franciso Pacheco 32B scoring 18 goals in 21 games. And then Brenford triggered his £6.75m release fee and off he went. We didn't win for 7 games after that! Alexis Merlo 33A - so I sold afew first teamers over the summer, because money, and needed some youths to step up. I had a player ear-marked for the DLP position but he spent nearly the whole season injured from one thing or another, which for a 4 star potential at 21 is not ideal, so Merlo 33A filled in. Normaly an AMC he was a revelation playing deeper. He scored a lot more in DLP as well, with 11 goals! if he keeps this up, we got a real player on our hands Valentino Maggiolo 33B - So I've saved the most exciting news to last. Our first international player!!!!! I do need to make sure I keep hold of him though, I got no prospects in the reserves! Youth A better intake this year but again too many striker and not enough defenders. A golden generation but with only one elite talent is interesting Finances and Upgrades One of the reasons I'm still plugging away is it is taking a long time to max out the facilities. It's definitely easier once they're done! But up until this season I've struggled for money, but this season it changed First, Pacheco 32B went for 6.75m Sadly no sell on but that's the problem with release clauses. But Pineda 32A was sold with 30% sell on and it came in! So all of a sudden we had a buttload of money, which saldy i couldn't spend fast enough. End of season we got a 3.75m tax bill! But then the idiot board announced a stadium upgrade that would cost 5m, and took out a loan to pay for it. We had 8m sat in the bank! And then got taxed 3.7m the week after!!!! Goddammit, you idiot board! Spend the cash!!!! So now, with debt payments and higher youth costs, our projection looks scary. Within 3 years will be 22m in debt! woohoo! Career I'm gonna stick it out, sorry!
  18. just checked and it looks like a pretty even split between Argentinian and Brazilian teams for the ast 10 seasons. Last seasons winners Atletico Mineiro, season before that River Plate. The first 8 winners in this save were all Brazilian though.
  19. Argentina Premier League 2038 (season 17) Season Summary League - We're falling into a similar pattern We're good, but not quite good enough. And River Plate keep battering us. This season our title challenge was over before it had even really begun as we lost 3 out of our first 5 games. We improved but could never make up the lost ground. But still, qualification for the Copa Libertadores is ours again. Copa Libertadores - Again, a similar pattern to the last few seasons where we were really good in the group stages only to balls up once we get to the knockout rounds. This year it was Corinthinians that did us, beating us 3-0 and 1-0. Players Francisco Pacheco 32B is still the star of the show. 34 goals in all competitions this season. I signed him up on a long contract but it's expensive at 20k a week. Plus, he insisted on a 6.5m release clasue so i'll be amazed if I manage to hold on to him for much longer Fernando Visconti 33C - got his chance after I sold Pinedo 32A and really stepped up. 12 goals and 16 assissts is as good as i could have hoped for Alexis Salgado 36A - can play striker or right wing, had an amazing breakthrough season. If Pacheco goes then this lad is our next big hope Youth Another really good preview followed by our worst intake ever. i only signed up 4 and don't hold out any hope for any of them. Still, a Colombian striker is quite exciting Finances Yeah, really not good. In trying to keep my best players I offered them wages that it turns out I really can't afford. Around £200k a week at the minute, which is crazy. Look at our projection:- So we ended the season nearly 9m in the red. Really, at this stage, the only thing I can do is sell players, get the wage bill down and the bank balance up, Time for those promising youths in the reserve teams to step up I think. Career I really like the challenge in Argentina. It's not that easy but I've been close for a while now. Surely it will happen soon? All I need is a bit of luck, especially in the Copa Libertadroes.
  20. Argentina Premier League 2037 Season Summary Another good season! It's starting to look like we're challengers! again, we couldn't quite keep up with the big boys and River hammered us a couple of times but we're getting closer! Copa Libertadores Again, we were really good in the group! Second round we got Cruzeiro of Brazil. The first leg was away, we battered them and somehow lost it 4-1. We won the return leg 4-1 but went out on penalties. Very frustrating! Players Francisco Pacheno 32B - not quite as good as his breakthrough season last year but it's clear I now have that top quality striker you need to finish this challenge. Easily our best and most important player now Valentino Maggiolo 33B - I took a risk seeling our keeper to Spurs last year but it was a calculated one as I knew we had this lad in the reserves. He really stepped up this season and made huge improvements and took an important step to proving me right! Oh, and in 18 months at Spurs Gustavo Yulan has made precisely zero starts. I got a 50% sell on on that fool! Youth I'm at that stage now where every intake is pretty good. Trouble is, it's very striker heavy and I really could do with defenders! I really really hop Santiago Bobba makes it, just because he's called Santiago Bobba!!! Best of the buch? this lad probably Finances and Upgrades So Brighton came in and offered me 3.2m for my groovy left winger and past possible wonderkid Miguel Pinedo 32A. I asked for 4.5m and 50% sell on, because he had a 5m release fee. They came back with an improved offer that was too close to the release fee for my liking so I accepted it. It's a smaller sell on but I didn't want to risk them triggering the release clasuse with no sell on at all Hopefully that 30% will get me some nice money becuase look at his value once he signed with Brighton! Hopefully they play the lad..... Anyways, the good news is that all that money enabled me to do this We still ended up losing money over the season though! Career Only a matter of time now I think. We're getting closer and closer and better and better.....
  21. shame, I really enjoyed my Belgium save. It was a slog though, took me a long, long time to get out of that rut you find yourself in. But I loved the quick season, the mad splitting of the leagues at the end and, eventually, the quality of youths i was getting I was really close to finishing the challenge too but then FM22 came out and I got distracted. Maybe I should go back to it and finish it off......
  22. Argentina Premier Division 2036 (season 15) Season Summary A really good season that would have seen us put together a title challenge if it wasn't for River Plate going unbeaten for 36 games! But it felt a real breakthrough season. We may have lost 5-0 away to River but we also went to Boca and won 3-0. Other than River, we more than held our own against the other big boys. The next stage is to try and take down River. Copa Libertadores - Really good in the group stage! unfortunately the second round fell during the Olympics and our mini-injury crisis and we were without 6 first team regulars for a few weeks. Even so we only narrowly lost to Internacional of Brazil. We got a strong bunch of reserves now too! Players A lot of matruing this season, none more so than Francisco Pacheco 32B. He started at AMC, headed to AMR as injury cover and started scoring for fun. Then finished the season as STC where he continued scoring for fun. He's looking like he could be the key for us in the next few seasons Despite being on the worlds best wonderkid list at 17 and 18 Miguel Pinedo 32A is still not an official wonderkid despite now turning 20. Maybe he wasn't all along, meaning i still haven't had a wonderkid come through. And its 2036! Youth Another good preview and intake! Lots of As is always nice Best two are a pair of potential strikers with really encouraging starting attributes Finances and Upgrades One of the reasons why we had a good season is I've been signing up the really talented youngsters on long contracts with a higher wage than before. So my wage bill is now around 150k from 40k when I first got promoted. The result is we lose a lot of money. So when Spurs came in with this offer for my keeper I couldn't say no so far he's just been rotting in their reserves though...... I also sold a couple of 4 star yougnsters and added 50% sell ons to them. I can afford to sell them as the reserves and U20s are full of 4 star potential players. Well, around 10 anyway, so it seemed a risk worth taking. Career Argenitna is tough, much tougher than Brazil. There's too many big clubs here! weirdly, i think winning the Libertadores might be easier than the league.
  23. Argentina Premier League 2035 (season 14) Season Summary A much improved season! We were miles off the title but were bouncing around 6/7th most of the season until an unbeaten 9 game run at the end of the season pushed us right into 4th. We're back in the Libertadores which will give us some much needed funds. And the team seems to be coming together! Copa Sudamericana saw us finish second in the group stage. Again. ah well.... Players The first team managed to keep injury free for most of the season and are starting to both improve and really gel. I'm kinda looking forward to next season! Wonderkids Pinedo 32A is gonna be the one! I got to plan what to do with him though as there's only two years left on his teeny tiny contract, and he'll want at least a £15k raise and i have no money! My first ever wonderkid! although it's still not official on his profile. Youth a nice preview. but would the intake be as good? Probably not, to be fair. The elite talents all have awful personalities and single figure determinations. Finances and Upgrades We lost such a lot of money! getting back into the Libertadores was essential as my wage bill had shot right up. At least now i won't have to sell anyone. unless a groovy bid comes in but weirdly i get very few offers for some reason. I got loads leagues loaded up as well so who knows. Career First season for a while where i've felt really optimistic! Hopefully we can make a proper breakthrough in the next couple of seasons and challenge for titles. I think the ingredients are there, we just need a bit of luck against the bigger clubs here and there.
  24. i always have periods like this in this challenge. I'm kinda stuck in one right now! it does get better, but it can take so long sometimes. When I was in Belgium I think it was the 2050s when I was out of it, something like that! Sometimes you just need a really big dollop of luck somewhere edit: i loved Belgium - one of my most favourite challenges!
  25. Argentina Premier League 2034 (season 13) Season Summary Another ultimately disapointing season. We started off really well, going unbeaten in our first 12 league games. But weirdly the fixture list had given us all games against the lower teams. The next 12 saw us only win twice but given the fixture list it wasn't a huge surprise. The rest of the season saw us battle for a top 6 spot and qualification for Copa Libertadores, which we need for the money more than anything else. Ultimately, we fell just short, finishing 7th on goal difference Back in the Copa SudAmerica, where we this season. We had a fairly easy group but I used it to give promising youth some first team game experience so it wasn't a huge surprise that we didn't make it out of the group Only one win really wasn't great from that group. Ah well..... Players The first team do have a nice set of personalities and are getting better so with any luck next season we can get back to those top 6 finishes we had a few seasons ago. Really disappointing season from Benitez 26B up front. I never succeed at this challenge without a top class striker, and it looks ike he isn't gonna be one. Pacheco 32B at AMC is a huge bonus. Only 18 and 11 goals and 12 assissts is really encouraging. Wonderkids I finally got one! I think! not official yet, but...... Pinedo 32A at number 12! Really nice surprise that. Here he is:- looks good for 18 right? Not yet described as a wonderkid but surely only a matter of time! and only £25 a week until the end of 2037 too. Not sure how I pulled that one off. Youth Another encouraging preview and intake. Hopefully they'll start paying off soon! always nice to see a lot of A grades! 3 elite talents is pretty good but not the best mix of personalities there. Finances and Upgrades We got a bit of cash for the Copa Sudamericana but not a great deal. It meant no upgrades and a season ending with a buidling debt in the bank. We might need to cash in on one of our remaining stars after all. Career In a bit of a rut right now. Hopefully these new young players can drag us out of it, there's some real prospects there that'll make me plough on for a few more seasons. I apologise in advance for the boring seemingly repetitve updates to come!
