  1. Some suggestion:

    1) you’re playing extremely wide with positive mentality so this mainly effects your focus of attacks. You can see a lot of attacks/cross from wide areas but despite bellarabi and bailey are pacey they’re not good finishers (they have very bad attributes on decision, finishing, anticipation, composure etc) also your striker can drop off because of his role so may be you can try to play with wide or standart with

    2) none of your attackers are a regular goal thread inside the box, alario drops deep, Bellarabi will cross from wide, bailey will dribble and make a shot or try to pass, your only player to attack to box is palacios and he is not very pacey so he can arrive the box late, so may be u can consider making one of the attackers to attack duty (preferably bailey because of his speed)

    3) dont foget kerem demirbay has a “plays to wide areas” ppm so may be u can create overload at the right side of the  and kerem send a diagonal pass to Bailey (inside forward attack), while your striker  pulls one of the defender

the best way to analyze the chance creation is checking the shooting map at analytical data so u can see where are your shots from

btw your tactic seems a lot of vulnerable defensively while your left full back has a bad positioning (i suppose 8 or 9) and a very aggresive role and also bailey has a bad defensive skills (workrate etc) so u can give a lot of space down your flanks especially teams that attack from wide areas

Generally speaking, you've got the right idea with using an aggressive mentality in a counter-attacking system. However, the problem I can see you having is that, while your players will look to get the ball forward quickly, you only have one striker and:

    • He's on Attack duty, meaning he won't look to hold up balls or play others in too often
    • The rest of the team is far away, meaning when he gets the ball from deep, he will be completely isolated

In a system like yours, I'd say a physically strong striker on Support duty is crucial. You need someone to hold up the play and allow others to join the attack.

    I think there's two options:

    • Change your striker to Support duty (PFs/DLFs/TMs) and play a more patient game (Standard/Positive mentality)

    or

    • Use a two-striker formation (e.g. 4-4-2/3-5-2) better suited to direct counter-attacking system (Positive/Attacking mentality)

Regardless of which one you choose, counter-attacks will still happen. They are triggered automatically once certain conditions are met, so you should look to set up your system for your normal build-up play. That's where constant hoofing to a lone striker with a Very Attacking individual mentality could be a problem.

The rest of your roles and duties look balanced. I would be vary about More Urgent closing down however, especially since Attacking mentality already comes with it increased. If your team isn't good enough to press effectively, or the opposition is good enough to beat the press, your players will be pulled out of positions all over the pitch.

@Zemahh Thank you for all your suggestions

i try almost all of other formations but only 4-1-4-1 worked for me, but I will try to make my CF to DLP/S

My CF has suitable attiributes to holding up to ball

    image.thumb.png.e76cb31277a265e2201953cde79b9113.png

Strenght: 15, OTB: 16, Balance: 16 etc. and he has Play-One-Twos ppm may be it can work with attacking wingers if I use him as DLF/Support.

My only question mark is he is my main goal threat right now, and if I change him to support role, this can be broken

    image.thumb.png.a82692e1badf1f7a91f19b88d2213b91.png

I tweaked my tactic a little bit, here is my current tactic:

    image.thumb.png.a5b12a12905210cdeb0e9c8637aa4d3e.png

I changed my rb FB/Attack to FB/Suport and changed Winger/Support to Winger/Attack. Because I think overlapping is more suitable for posession based system.

And I changed my centre mid to Mezzala/Attack to AP/Support cause again i suppose Mezzala works best for possession based systems.

Do you think that this current tactic is too one-dimensional?

    Btw, before 4-1-4-1 I played 17 Matches, 8 Losses, 4 draws and 5 wins

    image.thumb.png.6429940749005c7b504372d4efb11479.png

and I changed to current tactics, here are the results:

6 matches, 5 wins, 1 losses, (I lost to Bayern with 90th minutes goal).

  3. After consecutive bad results with different formations I stick with 4-1-4-1 for Borussia.

    bm1.thumb.JPG.8b82c2000a70f870b166cd9122c2cd8b.JPG

I use very defensive formation because my players at RB/LB positioning is very low and CD's are very slow

    LB/Remy Bensabaini:11 - RB/Stefan Lainer: 10

    CD/Mattthias Ginter: Accelaration 10, Pace 12 -

    Mentality: Attacking

    • Because my formation is quite defensive
    • I want my attacking threats Thuram and Plea stay advanced
    • I want my counter attacks are fastest as possible

    In trantisiton: Counter

    • to encourage fast counter attacks
    • i usually dont us when the ball has the lost but i could use regroup against bigger teams

Out of position: More Urgent and Get Stuck in

    • for increase number of counter attacks and my players are good at tackling

    No PI's.

Dou you think my approach is logical? Any comment and suggestion about tactic?

This can be caused by some other elements of a tactic, not necessarily defensive line or LOE. In fact, inviting "too much pressure" is more associated with the line of engagement than D-line, although both matter and play their part.

Btw, what do you mean by "gave positions"?

Two many shots on/off target from opposition.

Depends on how good your defenders are. If they are not good enough in terms of anticipation, concentration, positioning, decisions and teamwork, then offside trap can be risky on any DL setting.

Here are my 4 regular starter:

Neither player has any passing options available to him that truck with your TIs. In the first clip Ogbonna has nobody to pass to in the direction he is facing (towards his left). Everyone is marked. So he stupidly holds onto the ball, which is probably because he is not good at improvising.

Thank you @sporadicsmiles Lack of passing options is another reason

My two cm off the ball ratings: Declan Rice 10 and Markle  Noble is 12, quite low for premier league. I suppose i have to work on player roles too.

  6. 1 hour ago, Experienced Defender said:

From what I saw in both videos you posted, it seems that high defensive line is the problem in this particular case. Your defenders are probably not good enough to play on a higher D-line, especially against opposition that press aggressively. In both cases, they lost the ball when they were closed down by an opposition player. And you can easily notice how high up the pitch they were at the moment they gave possession away under pressure.

So you can drop the DL to standard, but in that case you'll probably need to drop the LOE to standard as well in order to retain compactness. Alternatively, if you don't want to drop the lines, you can drop the mentality instead (to Balanced), because the mentality automatically adjusts all instructions including DL and LOE. Whether that will be enough is hard to know in advance. You'll have to try and see.

    Much appreciated @Experienced Defender

I made my defensive line "High" because at standart I invite too much pressure and gave positions. Is it logical to use offside trap with standart defensive line?

  7. Managing West Ham, quite good so far. (7th @ Premier League)

    table.thumb.JPG.d1bbfb3994a0313bc28f29d855e6c57b.JPG

But last 2 matches my right back/center back (Ogbonna and Zabaleta) can not pass and cause huge problems for me:

Again bad pass from my RB (Zabaleta)

What do you think about it? Because of Fairly Narrow Formation or my player's bad techinal skills? How can I fix it

if Any other suggestion about my tactic will be welcomed

  8. @Johnny Ace thank you, I remove WBIB and my shot conversion rate increased surprisingly

I Use Bamford as DLF-Su becase he has a player trait "comes to get deep" and my idea is  Bamford to pull one central defender and create some space for Helder Costa (IF-A)  is it logical?

This is Helder Costa's latest goal to Cardiff I always try to make. Pablo Hernandez comes to deep to collect ball, by he pass the left wing Costa starting to run behind the defence and scores with whipped cross. But I think this works only against to high defensive lines, hard to score against deep lines with this way

Short pass & PoD are okay, but AP on attack duty is more suited to counter-attacking and fast attacking styles.

Based on what do you believe that positive (or any particular) mentality is what gives a player "big space to operate"?

As an IF on attack duty, he is already hard-coded to get further forward

I guess you meant Counter-press, not Counter?

If you are doing so well (as you obviously are, given the league table), then don't make changes to your tactic (so long as you are getting results). Because changing a tactic that works can (sometimes) do more harm than good, even if the changes are logical and sensible.

@Experienced Defender thank you for your suggestions

Pablo Hernandez frequently comes to deep I think because of "Dictates Tempo" trait, so I leave him as an AP-a

I changed Attacking Width to Wide from Extremely Wide because of Positive mentality you mentioned

I only change the place of my right and left winger because I want to use my Right back as WB-su (Luke Ayling has a "Get forward whenever possible" trait) so I will use my left back as IWB-Su, and also Helder Costa is naturally left footed

    My recent tactic:

We beat Cardiff 3-0 and we're at 1st place with 21 points

@Robson 07 thank you, hope we will move up to Premier Leage at the end of the season:thup:

  10. Hello, I want to share my tactical approach with Leeds United and ask your advice for possible improvements

    Current Situation

So far we're doing very well with 1. in the Championship and win 5 matches out of 7.

    puan-tablosu.thumb.JPG.2f809e62ce1e1898f60b997cb25e3f0b.JPG

    Player Statistics

    Goals
    Patric Bamford 5 (league leader),
    Pablo Hernandez 3,
    Kalvin Philips 2,
    Helder Costa, Stuart Dallas 1

    Assists
    Pablo Hernandez 3
    Mateusz Klich 2
Helder Costa, Jacke Clarke, Kalvin Philips, Luke Ayling, Gaetano Berardi 1

    My Tactical Approach

    In posession:

    • I want all team to support attacks so positive mentality
    • I want possesion football, so shorter passing and PoD
    • I use positive mentality because I want to give Pablo Hernandez (my most talented createtor) big space to operate

    Transition/Out of posession

    • I want to get ball as soon as possible so High Press and Counter
    • If opponent can play behind my defence I change Prevent GK distribution and  change Higher defensive line to Standart

    Player Instructions

    • Pablo Hernandez -> Roam From Position to give him more freedom
    • Helder Costa -> Get further forward to use his speed

    image.thumb.png.12f67f1a796f3c5d00d6dddb7b7e0f50.png

I have some thougts and questions about my tactic:

I know that generally #10's work with #9's. Pablo Hernandez is my absolute #10 but when I use him with my Advanced Forwards Tyler Roberts and Eddie Nketiah both of them play bad, so I'm ussing another #10 Patrick Bamford as DLF-Su, any idea?

When I see Leeds Squad my first thought about scoring goals was using Hernandez's passing, and my right side's crossing ability (Clarke & Ayling), and using Helder Costa's pace (Accelaration 16, Agility 15, Pace 15) and exploit left side of the opponent, but I score only 1 goal with this approach, any advice?

Generally my opponents positioned themselves as above so hard to make this happens and my only solutions is makeing my fullbacks WB-su and overlap both sides to strech them, any idea on creating space?
