  1. @WhiteCat33 Very nice write up, makes me want to go back to the Caribbean
  2. I raise you 2047... Are they still as dominant in your save as in mine. They've won 17 out of 24 titles in this save? We still have an awful record all-time against them and it took us 26 matches before recording our first win (went 22 losses and 3 draws)
  3. A couple of guys on the NXGN list. Spelmann 21d has 5 goals in 15(5) for Horsens and Eriksen 21g has played 17 times for OB, both in the Superliga and pushing themselves into the first team picture next year.
  4. Brønshøj BK - Youth Intake Season 24 Refreshing to see a couple of standout talents after underwhelming prospects the last 4 seasons. We desperately need a few more world class players to have a realistic shot at winning the Champions League. Apparently, this is the year for the affiliate in Japan to send us all ther youngsters. Wish Yoshida 24a was more consistent, but hard to complain with a solid base CA, high PA, and a solid personality. Hopefully we can keep Fisker 19a around and find a pair up top here. Borup 24c doesn't have quite as high potential, but his CA floor is higher. A bit short, but otherwise looks perfect for a winger in our system. I like the versatility of Sato 24c if his potential can hold up. Similarly, Varming 24d looks quite talented already, but has question marks over his potential.
  5. Missed you going back to the Caribbean @WhiteCat33, good luck there!
  6. First time I've had this one happen. Kobenhavn typically make runs into the knockouts of the Champions League, but usually don't make it past the R16. Funny how the media description is now our "riches" against their "modest budget"
  7. Not that I have this problem much anymore, but I've resorted to signing pre-contracts with the youth as they come through. I imagine this will be more difficult with your financial situation currently though
  8. Don't worry, they will continue to do that to you for the next decade too
  9. Brønshøj BK - Review Season 23 Nothing like a month break between updates. Trying to refamiliarize myself with the save as well. We ended up recapturing the title for the first time since season 19, our second title overall. Peter Fisker 19a pretty much carried us all year with 29 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions, winning the Superliga's Spring Player of the Year en route. Some solid development of guys like Rune Eriksen 21g in our reserves and Matthew McCarron 21c on loan in Australia. Made it past Juventus in Europe before losing to eventual finalists Chelsea in the Round of 16. Another R16 exit, but we at least went directly into the league phase this season (and will do so again next year). An embarrassing 0-0 draw home to Salzburg nearly cost us a bye directly into the R16. A bit painful seeing Man City win it all again and having Anders Hjulmand 11a score in the final. Key players: Ground has finally broken on the new stadium, but it won't be completed for 3 years. Training facilities got downgraded and are in the process of being topped off again. Nothing in.
  10. Brønshøj BK - Youth Intake Season 23 This one is even worse than the last, we'll need a good intake next year if we're to make progress in this challenge. I'm not sold on the idea of replacing our HOYD yet, since there aren't any clear improvements on the market. The top 2 prospects both are Unambitious with 5 and 1 determination, not ideal. Andersen 23c at least has a good personality, but his potential is low.
  11. All good points. I'll also add that it depends what you think of as "easiest." If you want to win the most games and dominate your country, some of the smaller ones are well-suited to that. But if your goal is to actually complete the challenge, it's easier to go to the high youth rating nations. It's much easier to win a Champions League title with German or French or Spanish youth than it is with Slovakian or Croatian youth for example. In my save, I was able to make it to the top of Denmark without too much difficulty, but winning the Champions League seems like a huge task since it's only realistic to produce Champions League-caliber players every few seasons, and it's harder to keep them at your club.
  12. Brønshøj BK - Review Season 22 Anotehr wish-wash season, but it was an improvement from the last. We we're in the title race until the final few matchdays but couldn't hang with Kobenhavn in the end. We did manage to beat them on the final day to secure the second place finish and not have to go through the qualifying playoffs for the Champions League. We also avenged our cup loss from last season to win the first piece of hardware in 4? seasons and our first ever cup. Similar to last season, we didn't lose much, but drew way too many matches for a team of our level. Need to basically win every game at home, and also win every game on the road against bottom half teams to really challenge for the title again. Good news is that Kobenhavn and Brondby both lost/are losing star strikers this season. Homegrown talent Cosentino was the top scorer in the league despite leaving Brondby in January and Jorgensen finally left Kobenhavn after 5 seasons of double digit goals. More of the same in the Champions League, our semifinal run looks long in the past. This one was painful as we had a very nice draw to be able to go directly into the R16, but we fumbled it against Benfica and Ajax on the road. It didn't matter much as well made it back into the R16 anyways by beating Ajax over two legs. We had a 2 goal advantage going into the second leg against Inter, but threw that away as well. We've built up depth over the last few seasons to deal with multiple competitions, but we haven't had many Champions League-quality players in this save. We managed to produce our best talents in seasons 7-11, but we couldn't hang onto them at that stage. We've been able to hang onto players from seasons 12-20, but have only produced 3, maybe 4, Champions League-level players. Key players: A new stadium is on its way! Wish the capacity was larger though. Nothing in.
  13. First time populating this list in a couple years. I'm pleased to see Aagaard 20b getting some recognition, he's our primary backup at the position and has had 5 starts in the league and 5 in the early stages of the Champions League. Fisker 19a is looking more and more like the real deal, he's started 28 in all competitions and scored 18 goals.
  14. Brønshøj BK - Youth Intake Season 22 Back to your regular programming in Denmark. This intake is a rough one, not much high-end talent. We do get an American from our affiliate. Questions over Andrulis 22a's potential, but his attributes aren't horrible even if the personality is rough. Kubel 22b also looks decent with question marks over his potential and personality.
  15. Much better start this time around, turns out it's easier to win when you don't lose 3 stars before the start of the season. Even doing well forced to play this strikerless monstrosity.
  16. I couldn't stay away, something about the nice light blue uniforms in the match engine. Managed to get another Ivorian oddly enough.
  17. Cruel, I wasn't even doing that poorly. We were 10th in the league (of 12) and 3rd in the xG table. Undecided whether I try again in Lebanon, go to Palestine (they have spicy intakes with Nordic nations as second nationality), or just pack up my toys and go back to the Bronshoj save. EDIT: seems like Palestine doesn't have relegation from the second tier in the game, so they're out
  18. Running through a preliminary test with Irshad. We started with 15 players, and now are down to 13 as everyone was on a non-contract and some chose to join other clubs instead of sign part time deals. Using a greyed-out keeper, we'll see if this can last to the first intake in April. I'm hoping for some spice, since I chose Lebanon because it seemed to have some variety in intakes. Lots of Armenians, some African countries, and even Venezuela, Brazil, and Finland from what I observed. Our one player last year was from Cote d'Ivoire, and the other club promoted with us that I chose not to play with actually is an Armenian diaspora club that produce dual nationality intakes! (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homenmen_Beirut)
  19. Still determined to finish the challenge in Denmark, but I'm testing out some teams in Lebanon using DaveTheEditor's megapack to load all Asian leagues. Hopefully something sticks and I have a save idea for after this (that might even be portable to FM24 according to the new announcement) EDIT: @darren1983 If it matters, the reset date is June 26th, but save on May 6th to get new teams.
  20. Depends on what your computer can handle / how quickly you want to go through seasons. The nature of this type of save is that you're typically playing 15-30 seasons before you complete it, if you ever do. You save time by not focusing on the scouting and transfer side of the game and can save even more time by only loading the nation you are playing in. Of course, that comes with a lack of immersion to the rest of the continent. Especially if you play in Europe, continental competitions will involve playing against greyed-out teams (even top half teams in top 5 leagues like Athletic Bilbao or Wolfsburg or top teams in top 10 leagues like Anderlecht or Galatasaray) unless you're playing the top teams (think Barcelona, Man City, or Juventus). So the conventional wisdom is that loading more leagues will make the challenge slightly harder when you're playing continental competition. So it's up to you whether you prefer having the game run a bit faster, or having the game be a bit more realistic with fleshed-out simulations. (If you're going to play outside of Europe, I'd absolutely recommend loading up all the leagues you can however)
  21. Things had been going better as of late until we dropped this stinker of a 1-1 draw, conceding to a former player no less.
  22. Unfortunately, it seems the goalscoring woes of last season are still an issue. After 5 matches, we sit on 5 points and 9th in the league. We are top of the xG table however and are underpeforming our xG by 7 goals (in 5 games!), It's frustrating and seemingly unfixable. What can you do when all your players can't finish chances. Defensively, we aren't struggling. We are keeping less of the ball than we used to, but it doesn't explain the complete lack of goals. Started the season with a solid 0-0 draw away to Kobenhavn. I'll take this any day of the week, and am not too concerned about our lack of chances. Then the alarm bells start ringing at home to AGF when we escape 1-0 victors. This is a 3-0 or 4-0 win in years past and we were dominant with 67% of the ball and holding them to no shots on target. Then a 1-0 defeat away to Nordsjaelland. This is a tough game, but we are clearly the better side and can't convert our clear cut chance, and have a goal disallowed. Johansen 13e puts in a 6.1 rating up top. Then we sink even further with a 1-0 defeat again at home to Esbjerg. They did create a few chances with their limited amount of shots, so conceding the goal was deserved (although it was a longshot from a corner). But, we couldn't convert our 2 clear cut chances or the 2.63 xG into a single goal. Fisker 19a played this one up top and put in a 6.3. Same story in the next match as we squeeze out a 1-1 draw away to OB. We again put up >2 xG and 6 half chances but can't secure a win. FM is a fickle beast, so I'm hoping our fortunes change at some point. We've been using this tactic with slight variations for decades and made it to the Champions League semi finals (with a worse strikers corps no less), so I'm sure it'll come around eventually.
  23. Brønshøj BK - Review Season 21 Disappointing season given what we were expected to achieve. We never were able to find consistent goals and it really sunk us accross all competitions. It's been 2 straight season now in which Johansen 13e has not scored more than 6 or averaged higher than a 6.70. Luckily, Fisker 19a will be able to pick up the slack. He's improved a lot, but just wasn't quite ready this season to make a big impact. He scored 7, averaged a 6.74, and will start next season. On the last day of the season, we beat Brondby to manage to sneak into the Champions League, but we will have to play the qualifying rounds again. I think so much squad rotation last season is what prevented us from finding a rythym on attack, so not looking forward to that. Also managed to lose the cup final for the second year running. Given that we nearly missed the knockout phase alltogether, a run to the round of 16 is not too bad. Especially when you lose to the eventual winners in Man City. We've now been knocked out by them 3 of 4 years, and twice in the R16. Next season we really need to push to perform in the league phase and get those automatic spots into the R16 that avoid rough draws. Kobenhavn had a great run in the Champions League, also losing in the R16, but finishing in the top 8 in the league phase. Key players: Have another small stadium expansion coming through. I'm thinking after next season I might ask for a new stadium. Nothing in, lots of deadweight cleared out.
