Have to say I’m extremely disappointed with SI with regards to the player development bug. I feel like a similar issue to this happens every year. Almost to the point it has to be intentional. It totally ruins long term saves (something Miles was bragging about in his recent blog post). It really kills my enjoyment & enthusiasm for the game. Especially as this version is almost identical to FM22. While the match engine has been a real pleasure for me to play, and I honestly feel like it’s the best ever match engine (and it’s not even close), it just feels like there is no point in putting too much time into the game while it is in such a state. And while I fully understand that we are playing an early access beta so bugs should and will be expected, I can’t understand how something as big as this has been missed by the QA testers. SI needs to release at hotfix ASAP.

MLS is still broken. Teams signing players for transfer fees then waivering them is still an issue.

Honestly, yes. I play with IF & IWF and I see them cutting in and making some beautiful plays. The match engine has been a joy to play with. I really can't put enough praises on it.

I’ve played 3/4s of a season so far & I can honestly say this is one of the best match engines I can ever remember. I’m seeing lots of different goals and some really cool plays. I really feel like for the first time ever, I am actually getting a team to play the way I want them to. I am coming to grips with the squad planner but I really find it to be more of a chore so far. But it has been useful to keep track of my squad and where I’ll need improvements. Overall, loving the game!

I do agree the defending is, shall we say “chaotic”. I am scoring lots of goals, but also conceding lots. But I love this chaos factor. The ball doesn’t feel stuck to anything, and it feels very natural with the players fighting to get to the ball. I must say the match engine is extremely fun. And I was a big fan of last years match engine! I just wish we could make some improvements graphically. The stadiums as well are very low quality, low poly trees etc. It’s honestly just a shame SI haven’t put much of an effort into the graphical side of the game.

Enjoying the match engine a lot. But I must say the squad planner is a disaster. It’s very unclear & a step down to the squad depth screen. Unsure if I’m just not used to it yet, or it’s badly designed from UI perspective.

Just seen some of the new content posted on YouTube. I love FM, my favourite game. One of the best games of all time imo. But honestly, can we really say in 2022 that we are impressed with match engine? We say it every year, I know. But it’s honestly a bit shambolic. Have to say I’m disappointed. Can’t say it looks much different to FM22. I’ll still sink 1000 hours into the game though I’m sure…

I finally managed to win the Champions league the other day. Hadn’t won a European trophy since fm17. I’ve been doing too many lower league saves. Finally happy to put FM22 to rest. Been a great year. Loved the game. So hyped for FM23!
