  1. For my main FM22 save this year I was struggling to decide which team to start with or country to start in when I realised that it’s been a full decade since my best save outside of England.

With that I mind I’ve chosen to head back down under to Australia and spend a few years (in game of course) reliving the great times I had on FM12 whilst managing Gold Coast United.

Now as far as I remember Gold Coast United folded in around 2014 and so picking up where I left off with them isn’t possible but I do know that there is another Gold Coast team but they’re not in the base game and so playing as them isn’t possible. (I’m sure there is a league mod to get them but I can’t be bothered getting it sorry).

So with Gold Coast out of the equation I briefly scoured the Aussie league for a team to manage and was hit by a wave of nostalgia for some of my old foes, the likes of Brisbane Roar, Sydney FC and Adelaide United in particular as I took great joy in beating them and taking their best players once their contracts were up. Big Eric Paartalu was a pivotal signing at DM.

After some careful consideration I decided that I just couldn’t bring myself to manage any of the teams I’d previously bullied into submission on my way to 6 consecutive league titles and so I’ve decided that my destination will be South West Sydney as the new manager of MacArthur FC. To be fair it works out quite wonderfully as MacArthur’a nickname is the Bulls, same as my hometown club of Hereford FC so I’m still rocking the Bulls.

Now to the crux of the save, the main goal is to have fun and just reminisce on the great times I had 10 years ago whilst playing with Gold Coast United but from there there will be some other stipulations.

    1. Must win multiple league titles (secondary task of back to back titles at least once)

    2. Must with the Asian Champions League (I did it with Gold Coast and so I must do it with MacArthur)

    3. Attempt to sign players that I had with Gold Coast in 2012 (I’ll post a list of those still in game in my next update)

    4. Once these have been achieved the save will turn into a journeyman and I can travel wherever I want (except England)

Other than that the it’s just as save to have fun and enjoy

    Found this online:

"Most games available in the Xbox Game Pass PC Games plan on your Windows 10 device support offline play but check the details of the game to make sure yours is supported. Games from the Xbox Game Pass library can be played while the PC is offline, but for no more than 30 days before the PC must reconnect to the internet to verify an active subscription. Most games with a campaign mode will be playable offline, but games with network co-op or multiplayer features will not work while you’re offline. While playing offline, some features, such as the ability to purchase additional items, will not be available."

Details on how to set offline mode here - https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/help/games-apps/game-setup-and-play/play-games-offline-on-windows-10-using-offline-mode

Oh brilliant, thanks very much Neil!!

  3. Sweet! So I CAN use my game pass to play the full version on my laptop…..@Neil Brock, would you need to be connected to the internet to play FM22 through game pass after loading the game up?

Currently I load up FM21 when I’m at home then once it’s running I put my laptop into sleep mode then play the game when I’m doing sleep ins at work. Will this still happen or will I always need to be connected to the internet and by proxy game pass to play?

    Even better

It was especially as Klopps pre game interview he was banging on about us being rubbish and that they were gonna smash us.

Well I’ve now done the Community shield and 2 league games and it’s fair to say the dream is becoming a bit of a nightmare.

We lost 5-1 to City in the shield then 6-3 to Arsenal and then 3-1 to Everton in the league……..this could be a long season

Congrats - good things are worth waiting for :applause:. Sounds like a near thing in the Cup final, too.

Good luck in the Prem

Thanks fella although I worded the Cup final wrong, we beat Liverpool 2-0 but I was trying to say that we were close to cruising it as although they had chances they weren’t great chances and we just sailed to the trophy

  6. So after struggling to progress from the Championship to the Prem on my Hereford save I completed a phenomenal 4th season in the Championship by repeatedly sabotaging my efforts to win the league with some terrible draws and even losing 4-3 to Newcastle after being up 3-0 at half time.

Brought in a new keeper and defender after selling my club record goal scorer ( a regen who was 23 when I sold him) to fund the new boys I went on a solid (if unremarkable) second half of the campaign that saw my make the playoffs in 5th.

I beat West Ham home and away in the semis before playing Newcastle in the final, Proust to the game I had not beat Newcastle in the 6 previous games against them but ran out comfortable 2-0 winners to gain promotion.

Finally I have got Hereford to the Prem and I’m over the moon, but the season was better than I could have imagined, we got into some financial difficulty during the season as the club had decided to build a new stadium at the start of it and the cost was killing us, but a decent league cup run helped before we somehow managed to beat 3rd in the Prem Spurs (managed by Jose) in the semi final of the FA cup and then to top that we almost cruised past Klopps Liverpool 2-0 to win the FA cup as well

I just view it as one of the real-life limitations. I rarely try to sign foreign players. I have had success with loans, which seem to be exempt from WP issues. There can be problems with the lesser European leagues (especially Scandinavia), but it's relatively easy to sign players from France/German/Spain/Italy, and rather too easy to snap up South American wonderkids.

In terms of a fix, you can install a no-Brexit mod that would solve the issue.

Yeah I definitely agree that you can get players it’s just becoming slightly annoying to find a great player and find that you can’t get him due to work permits.

Yeah the loan thing is odd, I had a player in league 1 on loan from Porto B who originally wouldn’t sign a contract when his had 6 months left as he wanted me to get promoted, ended up getting him on loan and he scored something like 10 in 13. He helped us win league 1 so I went to offer him a contract but was told he wouldn’t get a permit (unless I payed him like £20k a week) and he ended up going to Everton.

I think part of it is that having got to the play off in my second season in the Championship, I know I could push for automatic promotion with a few good buys but can’t get anyone that’s an improvement on what I have to get a work permit…..also doesn’t help that the club reputation hasn’t really improved since we got to the championship and the chairman won’t increase my scouting range.

But as you said you can definitely find players it’s just a case of spending a long time searching, I have got Paraguay’s no1 goalkeeper at the moment who I got on a free so they’re definitely there.

  8. Anyone else having issues with the annoying work permits?

Ive got Hereford up to the Championship and just finished my second season there by losing in the play off semi finals but I’m getting screwed by the work permits.

Any good young players that I find (have to look young as I still have a very small transfer and wage budget and the max wage I can give is still small), are either not interested in joining me unless I get promoted (which I probably can’t do without getting better players) or they’ll agree to join but they won’t get a work permit…….I’m enjoying the save immensely but I’m seriously considering waging until someone makes a fox for the work permits before getting FM22 just so I don’t have to mess about with them

  9. Well it’s been a while since I last updated but I was able to get my Hereford team promoted to the National League at the second attempt and then took 2 cracks at the playoffs to get promoted to League 2.

Currently nearing April of my first season in League 2 and we’ve already secured promotion to League 1 with Liam Cullen and a Regen called Nathan Dent leading the charge with 28 and 32 league goals and 40 and 39 goals overall respectively.

  10. Well due to currently being at work and also in the process of doing a computer course I don’t have any screenshots to post but I will give a quick run down of my second season with Hereford FC.

Right so after the disappointment of losing in the play offs last season and with some shrewd reinforcements during the preseason we were initially made favourites to win the league (we were replaced by York as favourites at around Christmas).

We started the season ok with a couple of wins, some draws and 2 losses but after slightly tweaking our tactic we went on a 27 game unbeaten run in the league and went on to smash the league with 102 points (We also have the final game of the season to play) and so we were promoted.

I don’t have precise numbers for stats but our signings we amazing all season, I brought in Montgomery - a striker who was released by Celtic who is on about 30 goals for the season, Eddie Carrington who was released from Spurs who’s a right winger who has about 20 goals and double figures for assists, Then there was 3 that were released from Man United, Max Taylor and Luca Encolini made a fantastic CB partnership and Robson who did a great job at AMC.

I’ve already started looking at signings for next season and I’m again looking for players released from the Prem clubs but also some from lower down the leagues, I’m hoping to get Dion McGhee who’s currently with Bolton but who’s contract is up at the end of the season and possible Callum Gribbin (both former Man United players) to give me better playmaker/passer options and I’ve already got Zach Clough coming in to play as an AML.

    Edit:

I would also just like to add this is the first time since Champ Man 06 that I’ve done a lower league save for more that half a season and I’m really enjoying it, it’s also the first time since FM13 that I’ve only been using a tactic that I’ve created. Now I’m not going to say that I’m a tactical expert or even really understand how my tactic runs with in the game but to actually have one that I’ve made work and be consistent does make the save a lot more fun but I’m also not getting too ahead of myself as I’m not totally sure that not just because most of my players as probably the best in the league in their positions

  11. Hey all,

Not sure if this is a known bug or not but here goes.

So i play FM21 on Windowed mode with scaling set to 85%. Now the issue is that every time i close the game down and then start up another session the game automatically starts up in full screen mode with regular scaling.

If anyone knows a way i can ge the game to keep my Viewing mode settings that would be great as its not really a problem but it is annoying to have to redo the viewing settings every time i play the game.

  12. Cheers fellas.

Its been a nice change of pace I normally do a year long save with Man Utd as whenever I try a lower league save I can’t get any tactics to work and then I quit the save within a month or 2 but I’ve been really enjoying this one.

Gateshead ran away with the league but I was more than happy with getting into the playoff especially as the board weren’t wanting me to be doing that well until the 23/24 season
