  1. 2032/33 Season - Championship Update November and December We continue at record pace to the title (hopefully) and will hopefully avoid any meltdown along the way. I'm pleased that we still have a few of the Boston born players performing at a high level as keeping as many of them in the first team is a key aim. Not much else to say from this update, we just keep moving forward and aim for that promotion!
  2. EFL Cup - Quarter Final What a performance from our Boston born Paul Tomlinson B28a who put Norwich down in the first half with 3 clinical goals in a space of 20 minutes and a first half hat-trick. He could not be stopped and it was all one way traffic in the first half as Norwich didn't get a sniff at goal. The second half Boston were just about to take off Carter Jones (L) but he ended up getting sent off in a silly 2nd card offence which gave the game a little excitement, or it should have. But Norwich still did not really look like scoring with just 2 shots on target for the shole game. Every Boston player would (except Jones) who started would grade higher than 7.1 for their rating and we saw assists from 4 different players. An overall dominant performance from the Boston United team who look forward to a semi-final game after over-performing so far in the EFL Cup. An the draw is in, and what a draw it is!!!! The two Championship teams face off with Boston having the advantage in the first leg with a home tie against cash-strapped Luton Town before going to Power Court (New Stadium built in 2030 with a 19,500 capacity). This gives both Luton and Boston a huge prize to get to a Wembley final in what will certainly be an impossible task, but that won't stop either set of fans from dreaming about Cup success.
  3. What a way to finish the season, think you have thrown it away and then save it in the last game!! Congrats on the promotion!!!
  4. Season 10 - Championship Update - August to October 2032 Update Maybe the youngsters of Boston are finally coming together. Things looked GREAT from the first game when we smashed Coventry 9-2 (4.19xG and 9 shots on target), yes that is 9-2 and just carried on from there. We would start the season with 7 wins on the trot before finally losing to a very average Watford team, a game we should have won really. The immergence of 20 year old Gavin Thompson 29c has been especially pleasing, especially starting the season with a hat-trick against Coventry. Unhappy star player Jamie Forsdick 28f has still played well and leads the team with 4 player of the match awards, maybe, just maybe if we go up, he will be happy to sign a new deal? It is great to see two of the Boston born players, Paul Tomlinson B28a and Kallum Stewart B24j still performing at a high level for the club and leading stats for average rating and assists. EFL Cup - A remarkable run, beating two Premier League clubs in Brighton and then Tottenham away. We managed to get Norwich away in the Quarter Final so here is to hoping that we can produce our League form against them and somehow make the FA semi final? Luton Town make it 3 Championship teams in the Quarter Final as they drew Chelsea this round.
  5. I've lost many finals and play-offs before, but this one was a kick in the teeth. I don't think I remember anything from us in the second half and just knew they were going to beat us. But we probably would not have been ready for the Prem as many of the team are still League One/lower championship players and a lack of depth in places. Thank you, I hope so, it has been a long time in this League and with the board blocking every attempt to build a new stadium (13k capacity here), I think getting promoted is the only way to force that through! Thank you both for checking in on the Championship plight of Boston!
  6. Great first season for the promotion and holding your own so far in the Premier League which is pleasing. Just get to that magically 40 points and secure that safety as it can all go wrong fast in the Prem!
  7. 2024/25 Season Update - December and January We move to the top of the table by virtue of games played, Loughborough Dynamo have 2 games in hand and Hucknall also have 1. We have managed to increase our finances no end thanks to the cup run and we seem to be able to keep making money due to our high average attendance, currently sat at 400 average with a high of 482 in the league. This is a league best. FA Vase - We needed penalties to beat a Hallam side who were just as good as us on the day and either team could have won. We scored 2 late to look like we had won only for them to score in stoppage time. 5-4 on penalties and into the Quarter Final to play Alton from the Combined Counties League Premier Division South. This is played in March. United Counties League Cup - Dumped out at the 3rd round, we should have won, not much else to say. Facilities & Structure - We got a couple of upgrades signed off, happy days! Youth Recruitment and Junior Coaching budgets improved.
  8. Season 10 - Will we ever get out of the Championship? 6th season in the Championship and we came so close last season, we just got pipped at the post. We still have the issues in the same area's and with very few players to buy, we pretty much have an unchanged squad. You can see the players that are unhappy about me not letting other players are growing, but i do have plenty of support for keeping them here (They do have a release clause which no-one wants to get close to and still have several years left on their contracts). Let's see if season 10, the 6th in the Championship will give us promotion.
  9. Season 9 - Championship Play-Off Final - Defeat at the Death It was not mean to be. We had enough about us to score at least 2 but we didn't and they did. I really thought at half time we was going up, but as they say, it's a game of two halves and we lost the second one. With very few players to buy and players wanting to leave, next year may be a fight just to get back to the play-offs once more.
  10. They broke me, 88th minute, such a poor goal to let in from nothing. Arrrghhhhh!
  11. 2031/32 Championship Play-Off Final - Second Half Goal - Sheffield United - 88:45 - Ben Romdhane Heartbreak at the depth as a scrappy goal in the dying minutes puts Sheffield United up 2-1. Boston United have been the better team but they didn't put the ball in the back of the net when it counted. Is there any time left to salvage something?
  12. 2031/32 Championship Play-Off Final - Second Half Goal - Sheffield United - 49:34 - Joao Marques And the worst start for Boston United to second half, first Sheffield United shot and they level the game. Momentum turned, Game on.
  13. 2031/32 Championship Play-Off Final - First Half Goal - Boston United- 29:58 - Nicholas Adamu LC24 (assist Jamie Forsdick 28f) Boston United have had the best of the game and probably should be at least 2-0 up with Sheffield United showing nothing so far. Just 1 shot on goal for them with no cutting edge attacks at the minute. If they come out fighting in the second half they will be dangerous and can always score but for Boston, they have to keep doing what they are doing and try and take a second goal before Sheffield United get back into the game. 45 minutes from the Premier League or heartbreak....
  14. 2031/32 Championship - Play Off Final Preview Sheffield United were heading for automatic promotion before they stumbled in the final 9 games of the season after spending 19 weeks on the top spot. They would beat Huddersfield 4-0 (over two legs to reach the final. Boston United climbed up from 19th to 4th and ended the season in totally the opposite form to Sheffield United, but the head to head record is all in favour of Sheffield United. Boston have really struggled to get anything from them apart from the 2-2 draw this season. Playing in a 4-4-2, Boston United will revert back to that to try and hold their shape, frustrate them and grab a goal or two when they can. I think they will come out of this with the win and we may just be too young and weak in key areas compared to the strength of their team. I am delighted to say 5 of the starters are Boston born and 8 have come through the Academy ranks. Is this just too much of a challenge or will the Sheffield United team that crumbled show up at Wembley?
  15. 2031/32 Championship Play-Off Semi-Final A close and tight set of matches that came down to Paul Tomlinson B28a winning a penalty late on in the second leg, which Callum McMahon 27c put home to tie the game up and send Boston United to the final. It was not a classic game with both teams trying not to lose rather than aiming to win, but the away leg victory, goal by Joao Miguel 27b, for Boston United really aided coming back to The Jakemans Community Stadium and getting the result that was needed.
  16. 2031-32 Championship Season - March to May Update Well, what a run that was to end the season with just a loss to Stoke followed by 5 good wins, both at home and on the road. What looked unlikely earlier on in the season has turned into what dreams are made of as Boston United will face Bristol City in the Play-off Semi-Final. Almost catching Sheffield United up, who collapsed only picking up 4 points in 9 games to go from top of the pile to 3rd. Huddersfield, Luton Town and Stoke all ended on 79 points for the final play-off spot. The drama on the final day of the season was when Stoke City lost 0-7 to Coventry and would miss out when they only needed a point. Luton won but Huddersfield had the best goal difference and played relegated Barnsley, winning 2-0 and into the play-offs. Poor Stoke fans, they have had a nightmare.
  17. I was worried for a while that the season was going to be a really poor one, but we have certainly picked up and fighting on!!
  18. Under 18 Professional Development League Victory For the 3rd time in 4 seasons, Boston United Under 18's secured the title, getting revenge on Millwall who beat them in last years final. It has been 3 Boston bs Millwall finals for the last 3 years and this new rivalry, at least at this age group, looks set to continue into the future.
  19. Youth Intake 2032 A Boston born player heads up the list this year which is great to see and hopefully he can move into the first team ranks over the next 2 or 3 seasons. In Ian Barton B32a, he has a chance as we always need centre backs. There are 3 or 4 plyers who currently look like the have the ability to play for the club in the long term but all will be signed and see how they develop in the next few years. The other Boston born player is keeper Oli Highers B32k.
  20. 2031/32 - Championship - Season Update Jan & Feb 2032 We have moved just below the play-off spots thanks to a good run of games, mainly against those at the bottom of the table. The win against Preston was pleasing as that helped to close the gap on them from 7 points to just 3. Sheffield United, Wolves and Sunderland are miles away from the rest and we are fighting with teams from 4th to 9th, separated by just 3 points for the remaining 3 play-off spots. It will be a great end to the season, every game at this stage really counts.
  21. 2031/32 - Championship Season Update On the 1st November we lost to Luton Town 0-2 and were sitting in 19th place. We started our rise back up and find ourselves now in 13th place, 6 points behind the play-off spots (1 game more played) and 21 above the drop spots. I am confident we won't be heading for the drop but will we make it much higher than we are now? I genuinely don't know. We look great in some games, terrible in others, so I don't think the pre-season aim of play-offs will be achieved at this point. Back into the Transfer window and I can see players becoming unsettled again so we may see form in January dip once more.
  22. 2031/32 - August and September Update I'll be honest, I was expecting to be nearer the top of the table and challenging but we would go 6 games without a win and were looking much closer to the bottom 3. Paul Tomlinson B28a would be out for several weeks and missing him seemed to have a big negative affect on the team and we just really struggled, even against the teams fighting at the bottom. We maintain our position in the Cup competitions but right now, it looks like another season of mid-table is what the Boston fans can hope for.
