Missing the point. This was sold as a "headline feature", and "fully licensed". Not actually true.

They clearly should have been transparent with this.

Agree, It's an ethics issue. And quite frankly, the J league isn't the only feature that is misleading or not working as advertised. AI Squad building was a headline feature with specific talking points about development, and youth usage. This is not working if AI isn't rotating or subbing players...

There will be even more issues with 25 due to the new engine, etc.

I am more concerned about the expectations of the graphics. I think they set high expectations for graphical improvements by announcing the new engine, Now, if players don't think the graphics are still up to par, this place will be a disaster. People might expect AAA-level graphics, but realistically we would probably get something similar to Soccer Manager, but hopefully, I am wrong.

The thing is, you focus on the match engine, which is indeed better than it has ever been apart from the high amount of goals scored. It looks and feels much better than anything we have had before.

The majority of the feedback here is however not about the match engine, but about the way AI does transfers, selects its squad and refuses to use its subs and rotation players. In addition to this there are also major problems with interactions. To remind you, these were headline features presented by SI itself and were supposed to be majorly improved compared to previous versions and in some ways it is now worse.

Your priorities are different from the ones giving feedback here, which is fine, but that doesn't mean that our complaints aren't warranted.

Focused on ME for sure. We get it, and it is miles better than previous years and less robotic. Offense play is way better, but defensive play is still lacking, and even more so since positional play has been upgraded. I don't recall anyone in this thread calling the ME bad. However, people have been pointing out legitimate problems in the match engine. I don't understand the constant defending of something that no one is even complaining about.

It's more like they've realized it isn't a 2 week fix so they didn't aim for 2 weeks. They'll patch together as much as they can over the next x amout of weeks and months.

Doesn't give me much hope for other improvements they've promised. Like AI squad building. And even less for the porting over to Unity.

Makes me wonder if the beta team focuses only on the match engine. This issue was literally the first thing I noticed, and I was able to diagnose that it happened more frequently in leagues running full detail.

Meanwhile im enjoying my fm 23 imported save.. I noticed that teams playing 4-4-2 concede more than other teams... Other than that can't say the other teams are overscoring... The teams that are playing 4-4-2 conceded the most goals, Leeds and Sunderland... The other seem fine though

This is the premier league table..

Is that league in Full detail? That is where the problem is coming from. It doesn't seem like you are managing in this league.

I've posted this in the relevant bug thread, but just to keep people in here updated as I know there's been a lot of feedback in regards to high amounts of goals.

The below is the most complete sim/spreadsheet I have done yet in terms of amount of leagues and conversion rates etc now included. As soon as the ''full'' release hits at 4pm I will download and begin to sim, and add a column for the new version and update so we can see if there have been any changes.

Please note for FM24 some teams had a conversion rate of up to 21% (so 1 in 5 of their shots goes in the back of the net) come the end of the season!

Players in the attacking third with +85% passing accuracy probably aren't helping. FM loves tiki-take and gegenpress. But IMO, the AI just does not press and trap effectively enough.

It would be interesting to see how tackles and interceptions, etc, compare to reality. I would guess it's low, which naturally creates more scoring.

Look at it the other way though, if you are sending a player out on loan, and he's your future BWM and the club you are loaning him to are playing him as a playmaker, thus not making the most of his attribute set and perhaps not developing him in the way you want, would you be happy?

I mean, none of this probably happens in real life, but then in real life, players don't have attributes between 1-20 or CA/PA that grows/reduces based on a number of statistical factors, so perhaps in some areas you just have to suspend disbelief for a while.

Furthermore, the AI doesn't train like a typical human player who takes advantage of a mechanic. They are going to train players at the position they are currently playing in. So if the AI wants their player to be a future BWM, he expects him to play that role, as that is where his stats will get trained. Whereas a human sets the player to train at a position where he isn't playing because it gives them the best attributes covered in training.

It is also never an immediate recall.

Like I said before. They do not care. Look at the amount of people buying the game unthinkingly. They do not care a main feature being advertised is not working and isn't guaranteed to work at release. SI is just like EA now. No competition, no incentive to improve at all. And to be honest, would you if you were in the same position? You can put out nearly the same game every year, make more money, not fix longstanding bugs and the community still eats it up.

It's quite fascinating, to be honest. Even though there are some problems like players not getting enough playtime or being transferred out too quickly, these issues could be due to factors like the lack of substitutes and rotation of players. Despite these problems, I don't think the changes in the AI squad building are significant enough to be a headline feature, especially since we are told every year that they work on it. Teams are more likely to buy young players, but sometimes they still buy older players for a lot of money who end up not playing. However, this could also be related to the substitution and rotation problems.

IRL figures from last season for the Championship.

    image.thumb.png.67807baa720676e961b30fe3b873610b.png

    That's 337 clean sheets across a season.

I have run 3 different simulations on FM to compare this to RL figures.

A: 137 -- Team with the highest: 11 clean sheets. Across 46 games this is a 23% rate.

B: 111 -- Team with the highest: 13 clean sheets. Across 46 games this is a 23% rate.

C: 156 -- Team with the highest: 11 clean sheets. Across 46 games this is a 28% rate.

This means that a team on FM with the most amount of clean sheets... would be around 17/18th IRL.

The accuracy of the match engine is unimportant. The game should be visually appealing, featuring high-scoring matches and impressive goals.

I noticed something that happens in many matches. There is a moment in the second half when there are no shots. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but even though we change the team tactically, NOTHING happens. There are minutes and more minutes of a match with only excessive passing

I’m going to start watching full matches. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is what driving up pass accuracy. It’s really off putting that my 4 passing center back went from 66% passing in FM23 to a now 92% pass accuracy in FM 24.

I really hope SI don’t nerf the injuries. I think if you’re more hands on with training and rest days, you won’t experience these problems as much.

I agree with your point. In my league, I haven't encountered any major injuries to goalkeepers so far. I believe people are not accustomed to seeing goalkeepers getting injured, hence they suspect it to be a bug. While I have had some injuries to my goalkeepers, none of them were severe or frequent enough to suggest a bug in the game.

When is this game going to clamp down on abuse of paying for transfers via instalments, yet this has no effect on future transfer budgets?

If the financial projection wasn't still broken, maybe the board could take the future financial state of club into consideration and set realistic limits on how much future spending we can commit. It should be limited like wages are.

Watching Lollujo exploit this loophole and every single other one in the game is gloriously grotesque.

Makes you question when doesn't negative transfer budgets actually come into play...

Sports Interactive should focus on setting realistic expectations and exceeding them, rather than making grand promises they can't keep. For the past few years, they have promised a lot but failed to deliver, so it's time to adopt the "under promise, over deliver" principle.

Nothing wrong with any team playing gegenpress but then we should see impact on stamina etc which affects players who aren't as well equipped to press entire game. Instead there is not enough impact and anyone can win anything employing these tactics.

Yup, attributes should matter. Although attributes are relative, certain styles of play still require a certain level of technical and/or physical ability. A small club in a random country shouldn't be as efficient as a top club in the world. Surely, you won't see the flair, but the mistakes should be far more than what we see now...

You have to combine it with my previous post about the conversation in which he said he wanted to leave, and he was upset that I'd not respected his initial decision. The very next post (minutes later in-game) is him now saying he's not made up his mind. Anyway I've made my point so not going round in circles. I post in here for the developers to read.

developers read bugs in the bug report section.

I've reached the end of my tether with this nonsense. Took over West Ham who were in relegation trouble. Went away to Newcastle who are in a three-way fight for the title. We took the lead but ultimately lost the game (they have signed Osimhen). We had a higher XG than them so I was relatively happy with the overall performance. I decided to reflect this in my post match team talk by choosing the option that says something like 'Don't be too deflated - If we play like that and create as many chances going forward we will get results' (can't recall the exact wording). Everyone reacted with the 'Looked to switch off' response, and then this happens:

    image.thumb.png.46176c2787914a2400a61b31567a4ea0.png

I guarantee if I'd have gone in hard on them I would be getting a dressing room revolt for being too harsh. This has happened at every club I've managed so far. I am now forced into making a 'promise' that I will improve team talks or lose the entire dressing room. Now I will be walking a tightrope after every match, not knowing what to say as I believe the system is completely broken. I know that choosing a lower reputation is supposed to inject difficulty, but the context and logic string that runs right through the interactions module is the most flawed it has ever been.

    or lower rep matters more.
