  1. Ive been playing a bit of a European journeyman save, started at Roma but by the January in season 1 I was performing terribly so moved on. Got a job at Sevilla when they were 9th in the league, managed to push them up to 7th. Following season I actually managed a full season with Sevilla and finished 4th. Started the following season terribly again! Ended up quitting in September and ended up at Spurs who were 13th! Just heading into April now and Ive dragged them up to 7th. The board only wanted a top 10 finish. Just won the Carabao Cup by beating Liverpool 5-1 and qualified for the Europa League 2. Still in this seasons Europa League and my next opponent is Sevilla, should be interesting!
  2. Decent start to the season with Roma, started off at home to Milan and finished as a 1-1 draw, Dzeko getting the goal for me and Suso with the equaliser for Milan late on. 2nd game was away at Empoli, went 1-0 down after only 2 minutes but managed to rally and secure a 3-1 win.
  3. First time managing outside of England on this years game and Ive gone for Roma. Always been my favorite team from Italy, I love the kit and I love the actual city. Plus with Hadrians Wall right on my doorstep I feel like Rome is a natural choice for me Ive only just started pre season and the only signing Ive made is Cutrone from Milan. One pre season friendly played was a 1-1 away at Tottenham.
  4. I just missed out in the playoffs with Charlton. I beat Watford 7-5 on aggregate in the semi final (5-1 win at home, 4-2 defeat away) but couldnt beat Swansea in the final and I lost 3-1. I was given a budget of just over 4 million for the coming season which im still trying to spend, Ive brought in a lot of players so far but mostly players with potential. Im still predicted to finish 22nd this season! Played 1 game so far and beat QPR 2-1 with a last minute winner.
  5. Playoff spot secured with a game to spare, cant finish any higher than 5th. The last few games have gone like this: Burnley 1 - 3 Charlton - Very suprising result, Burnley have been promoted. Bristol City 3 - 2 Charlton - Disappointing Charlton 4 - 1 Blackburn - This secured the play off place, I was 0-1 down at half time, 2nd half we were sensational. One game left away at Middlesbrough, Im 3 points ahead of 6th place Swansea but my GD is superior so it looks like 5th place. Play off semi final will be against Watford or Brentford. Oh and the takeover went ahead, Ill see what that means for us in the summer transfer window.
  6. It will be an unbelievable promotion should I manage it! The only disappointment the board have with me is that I havent reduced the wage bill as much as hey would have liked. If I was in a mid table position in January I probably would have cashed in on a few of the higher value players but when I saw a chance of a premier League promotion was on I couldnt let them go. If I dont go up and the takeover doesnt come off it could be a disaster!
  7. 4 games to go in the Championship with Charlton and im 6 points clear of 7th and currently sit in 5th. As it stands id be playing Watford in the playoffs who have done the double over me this season (a 0-1 and 1-2 defeats) so im not confident playing them. The other possibilities are Brentford and Swansea, depending on where we all finish, its so tight. Burnley and Stoke have the top 2 spaces sealed pretty much. The takeover situation seemed to have hit the rocks but I recieved a news item last night just before I turned the game off that it was back on and an announcement was due in a few days so hopefully exciting times ahead! In other news, my club Sunderland got relegated back to League 1 after sacking me when I had them in 2nd place the season before, they ended up getting promoted but then got relegated again in the season I won promotion from League 1. Sunderland are now on course to be promoted back to the Championship so if I dont go up then a reunion is on the cards. I still love Sunderland in real life but Ive got a grudge against them in game
  8. 1st season back in the Championship with Charlton is going better than expected. The board just expected me to avoid relegation back to League 1 and because of the financial situation at the club I couldnt buy anyone. The only player who came in was Jason Cummings (ST) from Notts Forrest and he has been a revelation, he has 20+ goals as I head into March. By the time the January transfer window came around I was expecting to have to sell some of my better players (Tarrique-Fosu and Aribo) but as I was flirting with the play off places I decided to hang onto them and make a push for a play off place. Currently in March and im 6th, 4 points clear of Brentford in 7th. Playing really well at the minute. However, the financial situation is dire (6 million in the red, losing 1 million every month and not making anywhere close to that). Promotion is kind of imperative now, if not it will be a firesale at the club and everyone will go. One silver lining is ive just had that magical news item saying that the clubs chairman is trying to sell the club. Its going to be an exciting end to the season whatever happens!
  9. I decided to start a new game with Sunderland using the latest database from the January transfer window. I had them 1st/2nd consistently throughout the season but, like in real life, far too many draws and I ended up getting sacked with a month of the season to go with us in 2nd! I got offered the Charlton job with them in 19th place, I got the offer of taking over immediatly or the end of the season, I started immediatly and picked up 7 points from the remaining 4 games to finish 16th. New season I was given 0 transfer funds due to financial problems and ended up getting promoted to the Championship as champions. This was despite a mid season blip where I lost 5 games in a row and was given an ultimatum to pick up 10 points from 5 games. I managed to pick up all 15 points and only lost another 2 games for the rest of the season. New season is almost upon us and Ive got 220k to spend, god help me
  10. Its alarming that this seems to happen a lot, the same happened for me in the latter stages of my League 1 campaign, Baldwin was a rock at central defence but then fell apart after February and didnt get above a 6.4 average rating. Very disappointed with him to be honest and Ive been ruthless in the summer transfer window and upgraded on him.
  11. I looked at Marin but he wasnt interested in a loan move and his club wanted crazy money for him so I ruled him out. May look at him again if I get promoted to the Prem, I havent had the chance to look at your other suggestions yet but im off work until Monday after today so hope to get a decent chunk of the season done. Ive had a good start in the Championship and im currently 2nd. I signed a lot of players and a couple of others on loan who were with me last season.
  12. Finally finished my first season with Sunderland, after a fantastic campaign we kind of limped our way to the finish once promotion was secured, suffered a couple of more losses, including a 3-1 defeat at Peterborough which confirmed their playoff place (You are welcome Posh fans :) ). Now the hard work begins, I need quite a few additions to get the squad ready for the Championship as I was very disappointed with how some of the players tailed off towards the end of the season. Baldwin has been superb all season but the last 5 games his average rating is 6.4, same for Maguire, Reece James and Max Power. These all need improved upon. Any ideas on who I could realistically sign? We get given a £21 million budget which was surprising!
  13. Ill post a full end of season update over the next few days but still top of League 1 with Sunderland after 37 games on 91 points, im 24 points clear of Charlton in 2nd and 25 points clear of 3rd place Walsall. We have won 28, drawn 7 and lost 2. We have also had a tremendous run in the FA Cup, beating Man City 2-0 at the Stadium of Light in the 5th round before eventually losing to Bournemouth in extra time in the Quarter Finals.
  14. (L1) Bradford H - 3-1 W Maguire (9) Baldwin 45+2) Man (75) (L1) Shrewsbury H - 2-0 W Maguire (3) Sorloth (79) Currently top of the table ahead of Charlton by 16 points, and ahead of 3rd place Burton by 19 points, promotion looks a formality now and would take a collapse of epic proportions to blow it now. Sorloth is my top scorer and has bagged 18 goals so far. A couple of players are also leaving us, Glenn Loovens is going back to Holland and joining De Graafschap for a fee of 14k. Adam Matthews is also leaving to go to Aberdeen for 150K (going up to 300K), he had been going through a poor run of form and it culminated in a very poor performance in the defeat away at Portsmouth, I warned him for poor performance and his recent form and he didnt like it so I took the first bid I received for him. Hopefully I can keep this run of form going.
