Süper Lig 2023/24 - September & October 2023

Well...its not looking good.

Its a mix of unlucky games and playing bad.

We got an easy November and December, if we cant win all of those games, I think the board might take to me.

We got the small double with the league and Supercup.

Absolutely delighted.

I can freely say, I made the right decision in the summer.

Selling Gedson and Aboubakar and bring in Andreas Belotti.

Also the addition of Muharem Huskovic was insane.

Everytime Bielsa played 442, him and Belotti played so damn good together.

 

Ghezzal once again with a high assists number, also Rosier with 11.

The boards wants attacking and entertaining football.

The supporters want possions, attacking and possessions football.

 

We are a 3,5* team, Im a 3,5* manager, so we could take a 4* manager.

These are the options I think.

Juanma Lillo would fit perfectly. But he joined Betis in March and got them to Europe.

It would be kinda unrealistic to take him.

Option 1: Mikel Arteta

He sacked pretty quick in the save at Arsenal.

Arteta got the most rep and he fits right in.

But there is one big flaw, he only knows one formation.

I did now 5 seasons in total and this is kinda bad.

Option 2: Gerardo Martino

Former Barcelona, Argentinia and Mexico coach had a shocking spell at Almeria.

But he would tick almost every box.

Rep, tactical style, playing mentality and he plays 3 formations.

Option 3: Vicenzo Italiano

He is less known then the other candidates.

Italiano starts as Fiorentina coach, but he got sacked and went to Cagliari. 

He missed the promotion back to Serie A.

Italiano would tick all the boxes.

Option 4: Daniel Farke

The last option would be a fellow German.

irl I think he is an absolute "Blender".

But he would also tick all the boxes and....

 

He got BMG to back to back top 3 finishes.

I decided to go for Gerardo Martino.

 

I think Italiano is not ready for this step and Farke would be kinda unrealistic in the end.

He would've taken a pay cut and trade the Bundesliga for Greece.

 

EDIT:

Suddently his tactical style switched to wingplay.

Its back to control poss.

After some busy transfer weeks, we finally got our first real games.

No problem vs Slovan Bratislava.

We almost rebuild the entire squad.

The fact most of them had a contract only until the end of the season helped.

 

Biggest Out are Naumov, Onyekuru, Sergi Canos, Vujacic, Civic and Rodinei.

We had 5 left back in the team and I sold all of them and bought 2 new ones in. :lol:

First huge mission was bringing in some Greek players to a Greek club.

Nikolaou returned after 6 years home.

 

I wanted two more, but both rejected us.

Ghezzal was listed, because the new Besiktas coach wasn't a fan of him. Ofcause I take my boy! 4 CL games and 3 assits already.

Luciano and Schott were suggestions by Martino. You cant go wrong with couple Argentinians.

The rest were basicly just let my scout do the job.

 

I wanted Vlachodimos and he was willing to come.

20 mio for a keeper just for the CL....nah sry.

Hi mate.  Yeah it is realistic. Top 5 Greek clubs haven't many Greeks. Only Panathinaikos has a normal number of Greeks/Foreigners. Also Paok has good youth academy but not many Greeks at the first team. It's an unsolved problem for too many years now. If you see our National team recently calls only 5-6 players playing to Greek clubs.  As for how we survive the answer is we don't survive. 20 years ago we were 7th in European coefficients and now we are close to 20,also Greek national team hasn't quilify for a main tournament since WC 2014...
