Transfer interest should correlate more with player performance

I have the impression that CA, PA and world reputation dictates how much transfer interest from other clubs a player gets, and how much they are willing to pay for him. In real life it's much more common for clubs to get caught in the hype of a player and throw cash at the club that owns him. I'll give you an example, I'm testing a tactic and using Burnley to test it. Weghorst has scored 30 league goals + 10 assists in 38 games. Nkhetia played as a shadow striker with 15 league goals and 7 assists in 34 games. Neiher of them has any transfer interest from any club. There hasn't even been any rumours of other clubs interested. Burnley is a PL club, but they are among the smallest and they are not a rich club. I've done the same with player like Solanke, chris Wood etc.
I just can't imagine this as a real life scenario, a PL striker from a smaller clubs scores 30 PL goals (legendary numbers) and no clubs are as much as linked with him. I get that other clubs won't pay top price for a striker approaching 30, but they should at least try to make a deal happen, just to unsettle him if nothing else.

EDIT:

I've tried to transfer list him and see how low I had to go in order to get some bids, He is currently transferlisted for £15mill, West Ham is the only interested club and nobody has made an offer, not even tried to negotiate. After having continued until the start of august, he is still transfer listed at the same price. West Ham have dropped their interest, so now no club is interested in Weghorst.

EDIT:

After having lowered the price to £10mill and £5mill with no offers, I lowered the price to £1mill and finally got some offers.

Agreed. This is probably my biggest problem with FM atm.

But I think in order for it to work like this, you have to obscure scouting more, otherwise it can be exploited by the user.

For example, if I need a CAM , I'm not going to bother bidding for a player who only has 10 passing and vision, even if they have 20 assists in the Premier league. But if I only get a rough idea of their attributes, perhaps only an attribute polygon and a scout report pro's and cons, I might get fooled by this player's obvious purple patch and sign a flop.

It can also work the other way around, using smart scouting to pick up bargains. Another CAM might only have 5 assists, but through the use of stats, you can tell he leads the league in key passes, and is clearly creative. But due to his low assists, his reputation and interest is lower, and the price goes down.

This will also make the new data hub way more useful. Because at the moment there's not really that much point looking, when you can get a much clearer idea through their attributes.

It will also turn scouting into more of a skill, instead of easily picking up the best wonder kids. They'll be a greater risk/reward, with more potential for big profits and losses on flops and bargains

Definitely see where you're coming from, and it's something we've got in our database already to see what changes we could potentially make in future. :)
