Create a Striker Sign-Up (also a holiday game experiment to test my new American league Pyramid, and North American Continental Club Cup Competitions)

The original plan has been scrapped since that part of the game is broken, so I'll be doing a pretty straightforward Create a Striker game now. Since I plan on doing pretty extensive updates once this is fully up and running, I'm going to limit the number of participants to 8. I'm also going to limit it to one person per country, with the requirement being that it is a CONCACAF nation that has never made it to the final stage of World Cup qualifying. The following countries are already selected.

I'll put you at FC Belize for now, but here's a look at the 8 teams starting in the 2nd division if you want to choose one yourself. I'm about to start a quick test where I'm going to just holiday the first 10 years to see if I've fixed a problem I was having with the promotion/relegation playoff I had set up for the American pyramid, so will give you an update in a day or so.

Oops, I couldn't read my own writing, meant "Determination". And when I get home I'll check and see what the game calls my "custom" tactic. (i'm using a 3 CB with the outside two as Wide Center backs) Barring that, I'll just pick a couple off the list. I generally don't subscribe to, how shall we say, tactical norms.

Hmm, so the pre-game editor doesn't allow for 3-back formations, but the in-game tactic creator does? SI probably should address that, since they created a "Wide center back" role specifically for the 3-back system. just make mine 4-1-3-2 DM, then.

Thanks. I'll make the changes for the next run through. I've actually had to restart a couple times already because everybody was quitting or getting sacked and then never taking another job. I've made adjustments to everybody's starting reputation and current ability that will hopefully make a difference.

I went and poked around in the editor - apparently, the only way to select a 3-back tactic is under the "attacking formation" option. All the "defensive formation" tactics are 4 or 5 backs, and the primary/secondary formations don't allow it, either. I guess...I'm a gaffer ahead of my time.

So, the changes I've made have had no effect. Only one of the 4 managers still has a job in 2024. 2 are still unemployed since 2022, while the other one flat out retired. I don't want to make everybody's reputation too high, but I don't know how else to ensure they keep getting jobs. I'll make one more adjustment tonight and see how that goes.

because unless your manager's name is Pep, Ole, or Alex Ferguson, the game doesn't worry about keeping you employed constantly? I don't know, I'm still amazed that you can offer a job to a staff member who's in the game and not showing a job history, and they decline the offer because "your club isn't of the reputation I want to work for". Oh, I get it, you'd rather sit in the pub and collect unemployment over working for Swansea.

Well, something is definitely broken in regards to managers being offered or taking new jobs. Even with home reputation maxed out, and the current and world reputations bumped way higher, within 5 years every manager is unemployed and not taking jobs, while one of them flat out retired. I genuinely have no idea what else to try.

Since the game is fundamentally broken so that this isn't possible, I'll go ahead and change it up and make it a Create a Striker game instead. I still need to test the league structures I've created, so I don't want to kill this completely.

The only difference is that I want to limit the teams a little bit more. I'm fine with Belize and Curacao, since they've never made it that far in World Cup qualifying, but if @estewu wants to create a striker I'd rather it be from a smaller country, preferably one that's never come close to qualifying.

If you guys are interested in doing that, I'll post a new set of instructions.

I think I've tried to do the same in one of the previous FMs with managers simulation (in Europe) and had the same issue. No idea why it's not working at all.

I'm still on board, I don't mind creating a striker in Puerto Rico.

Here's everybody's starting point. In addition to a few screenshots for each striker, I'm including a look at the league preview for each team. After an initial test I ran this past week I realized that setting the current ability at 100 was a bit too high, so I've dropped it down a bit. Everybody starts with a potential ability of -10, which translates to a range of 170-200. As things progress, I'll also post some screenshots for each striker's profile using Genie Scout so you can see what their potential is and the roles that best suit them. If I've left out any information that you want to see let me know. While these first few run through's will be a little thin on the updates, I have big plans for the new year once I've finally got everything fine tuned the way I'd like.

James McGill - There are 36 games in the Bermudan First Division, with each team twice playing the other 9 teams home and away. The top team wins automatic promotion to the Bermudan Premier Division, with the teams placed 2nd and 3rd playing off for the opportunity to face the loser of the Premier Division Relegation playoff for a single promotion spot.

The top team wins automatic promotion, while the teams placed 2nd-4th playoff for an opportunity to face the loser of the First Division Relegation playoff for a single promotion spot.

Since this game is still crawling with bugs, I'm unable to view the form screen for anybody even though I have them on my shortlist and the league is set to full detail. I've already posted it in the bug tracker, but it's put a real dent in my plans for posting updates in the future. Hopefully it will be fixed, but I'm not holding out hope.

Sitting in the airport waiting on my flight, so thought I'd drop one more tease to let everybody know that by the end of the 2024/25 season, all but one of you have moved clubs.

We've got somebody at Ajax, Benfica and Arsenal, as well as somebody at a top club in Costa Rica who is nailed on to move during the summer transfer window.
