le_crab
Just started a new save with Cliftonville in the Danske Bank Prem. Money is obviously very tight so I'm thinking it's best to try and produce my own stock, problem is got a small squad and no youth players already on the books so where do I start? Nottingham Forest
Do you have any funds in the wage budget at all? I'd consider looking for players that could be offered youth contracts who have potential to be good enough.
le_crab
I'm pretty skint I've got a couple of hundred quid. Trying to offload abit of deadwood to free up funds.
Nottingham Forest
Well I think from past experience that youth contracts in Ireland aren't that much.
le_crab
I will do some scouting and see what I can pick up.

le_crab
Don't they get abit funny about that when your a new manager? Could do with some extra cash I can't get liam Boyce to renew his contract.
Nottingham Forest
Always worth asking.
le_crab
Asked the board, got a wage increase of £76 a week.
Nottingham Forest
Massive increase . Can get some more youth players for that.
le_crab
No but by releasing a winger I was able to free up enough wages to bring in a new left back on a free and he's light years ahead of what I already have.
TubewayArmy79
Well stick to promotion first then you might get abit more money?
le_crab
Need a minor miracle and try to get into the CL group stage to get some real money in so I can dominate. Just had Dinamo Zagreb away got peppered all game but snuck away with a 1-0 win unfortunately I think they'll wake up second leg a stick a few past me. mrdanbartlett
I actually found ditching internal youth all together was better idea until I got enough money to spend on such things. I just bring in young (usually out of contract) players and develop them, in all my years of FM I very rarely ever get any real gems through the clubs own youth system. cjmaitland
The beauty of playing at leagues as low as N.Ireland is that some youth products will not need much time before they're good enough for your squad - especially in the lower leagues there. One of my favourite saves has been using Wakehurst in the N.I. Championship 2 and not signing any players! It will never give you instant success but it's always good for profit. Plus if you win anything you feel like a legend
