3 more wins sees us surprisingly sitting top at the end of the month. Can we stay there?

A turnaround from last month as we first win away at PAOK and then pull off another shock win with 3 points at Dinamo Moscow. We top another table at the halfway mark.

November 2020

League

Fixtures

Brought down to earth with a thumping at Twente. We then have a credible draw at Ajax and a victory over VVV but then have a poor draw at home to Helmond Sport.

Table

Europa League

Fixtures

Similar to our league form, we are beaten comfortably by Dinamo Moscow but then win a decent point at Real Sociedad. We need to beat PAOK in our last game to qualify for the play offs.

A pretty mediocre month considering, with just the one win and two clear defeats just before the winter break.

An absolute thumping of PAOK seals our place in the knockout stages, although I can't see us going far as we draw Chelsea in the 1st Knockout round

Picked up after a poor December with two wins to push us back up the table once more.

It took extra time but we overcame Heerenveen to progress to the semi finals for the third time, where we face Groningen

We didn't need (or frankly could afford) much strengthening, however I made one signing:

Oliver Petersson: young Finnish left winger signs for £30k from Honka

2020/21 Season Review

Dutch Eredvisie

League: 2nd

Didn't quite make it, but finishing as runners-up and qualifying for the Champions League is a good achievement anyway.

Cup: Runners-up

Make it to the final again only to suffer heartache on penalties this time around.

Europa League: 1st Knockout Round

We do very well to get out of our tough group, however a strong Chelsea prove too much

Key players:

Stefan Coumans: once again, the striker has a fantastic season with 25 goals in all competitions

Sem Witteveen: his strike partner also has a great season, with a similar amount of goals and plenty of assists

Amine Boussofa: despite rotating with the two strikers above, has a very prolific season

Leonel Aranda: his second season on loan is another great one from the Argentinian

Joao Nunes: a strong season from the Portugese centre back as he becomes a rock in the centre of defence

Alexis Mane: the French central midfielder does well in the middle of the park.

Finances: our cup run and European appearances, along with a 2nd place finish and money from the takeover, mean there are no issues here.

Dynamo Moscow (Dinamo Moscow, Dinamo Moskva, Russian: Дина́мо Москва́ [dʲɪˈnamə mɐˈskva]) is a Russian football club based in Moscow, currently playing in the Russian Premier League. Dynamo's traditional kit colours are blue and white. Their crest is of a blue letter "D", written in a traditional cursive style, on a white background with the name of their home town "Moscow" written in front of a football underneath. Club's motto "Power in Motion" had been proposed by Maxim Gorky, the famous Russian/Soviet author who once was an active member of the Dynamo sports society.

Dynamo Moscow is the oldest Russian football club and the only one that has always played in the top tier of the Soviet (for the Soviet era – sharing this achievement jointly with Dynamo Kyiv) and the Russian football competitions, having never been relegated to the lower divisions. Despite this, it has never won today's Russian Premier League title.

During the Soviet era it was affiliated with the MVD (Ministry of Internal Affairs – The Soviet Militia) & the KGB[1][2] and was a part of Dynamo sports society. Chief of the Soviet security and secret police apparatus (NKVD) Lavrentiy Beria was a patron of the club until his downfall.

So I head over to Russia for the first time ever in FM - signing a 2 year deal for 10x what I was on at Fortuna Sittard.

Club Information - we finished 4th and qualified for the Europa League in the 2020/21, so the aim is to try and get in the Champions League next season.

Finances - absolutely no problems here.

Squad - a very strong one, the stars being:

Soares: incredibly strong Brazilian left back

Alphonse Areola: talented French keeper

Corentin Jean: another French player, is this France international striker

2021/22 Season Preview

Russian Premier Division

I'll post my transfers in the August preview as its a bit early to do so at the moment. Seriously!

Transfers made before the start of the season in July:

Victor Zhiltsov: Young Russian strikers is a bargain at £2.1m from Rostov

Juan Pablo Medina: Mexican playmaker signs for £5.5m from Santos Laguna

Victor Hugo De La Torre: another Mexican, the centre back signs from Tigres for £3.3m

Carlos Alberto: Brazilian right back signs from Ponte Preta for £3.9m

Cris: another Brazilian, the striker signs from St Etienne for £7m

Fabio Guerreiro: Brazilian no.3, the centre back signs for a bargain £1.2m from Sport

Denis Cheryshev: experienced Russian left winger signs for £4.3m from Bordeaux.

Friendlies: pretty decent, I can take the narrow defeat at home to Bayern.

Dinamo Moscow

2021/22 Season

Russian Premier Division

August 2021

League

Fixtures

Collapsed a little away at Amkar but 4 other wins sees us sitting in 2nd place.

Table

Europa League

Fixtures

Straightforward defeat of Norwegian side Honefoss to progress to the group stages. We get a tough draw against Real Betis, Maritmo, and Stade Reims.

Transfers

We finally wrap our signings with a couple more on deadline day:

Jamaldin Khodjaniyazov: experienced Russian defender and Scrabble winner signs for £2.9m from Terek

Patrick Roberts: the young English midfielder signs for £7m from Fulham

Transfers Roundup: as you can see I give the squad a substantial overhaul, including a number of Russian players due to the restrictions of at least 4 Russians in the first XI at any point.

Somehow we've only spent £4.5m net, thanks to selling some players for higher fees than expected.

We come away from the San Siro after suffering a narrow defeat, but do however obtain an away goal. This comes in handy as we have a narrow 1-0 lead at home which sees us through to the second knockout round to face Zenit St Petersburg.

Transfer Window

Only one signing: USA striker Sheanon Cardenas signs on a free from New England Revolution. Unfortunately he promptly becomes homesick!

Youth Intake

A couple of reasonable prospects, the best being Shamstudin Sidorov.

2021/22 Season

Russian Premier Division

League: 2nd

CSKA won it comfortably, but we did enough to secure Champions League qualification.

Cup: Winners

A succession of 1-0 wins, with the same scoreline in the final being enough for us to grab the cup.

Europa League: Semi finals

A very good run, only ended by eventual winners Manchester City in the semi finals.

Key players:

Victor Hugo de la Torre: strong in defence from the Mexican centre back

Douglas Costa: excellent work on the wing from the Brazilian

Cris: the Brazilian centre forward was our second top scorer

Corentin Jean: the Frenchman was our top scorer

Victor Zhiltsov: a surprise as the young Russian striker proved to have a very good season, also chipping in a dozen goals.

Finances: no problems here

I also picked up the Russian Manager of the Year award.
