11Clarkie11
Is this the case? Happened to me in Liga BBVA (Spain), and I always thought that in this league it was a definite yellow. The handball was in the oppositions penalty area!
FrazT
Deliberate handball is a cautionable offence unless it stops a clear cut oppotunity to score when it would be deemed a red card.
CityAndColour
This has been brought up a few times, and I think is just the match engine not understanding the rules properly.
soccer.joel
I've never had a red card from deliberate handball in my games on FM13
dafuge
Deliberate handball is a cautionable offence unless it stops a clear cut oppotunity to score when it would be deemed a red card. In the FIFA laws of the game (pages 36-39), deliberate handball results in a direct free kick, it is not specifically mentioned as a cautionable offence. I suppose a deliberate handball could potentially come under 'unsporting behaviour' though, which is a cautionable offence.
CityAndColour
Yep. It's entirely at the referee's discretion whether or not to book a player for handball. Any foul that prevents a clear cut scoring opportunity is a red card offence.
soccer.joel
Most yellow cards fall under unsporting behaviour. Bad tackles, etc. all fall into that category
11Clarkie11
I thought in Spain thought that any handball carried an automatic yellow card. And I know that obviously if it denies a scoring opportunity it is a red. But I was in the oppositions box?
dafuge
The rules are no different in Spain, but the way the referees are interpreting them seems to be making things hugely inconsistent compared with the other major leagues.
El Bostero
The Laws of the Game give as a punishment for deliberately handling the ball a direct free kick. There are certain times when cautioning for handling would be appropriate (i.e. handling the ball to break up a promising attack, handling the ball in such a way that brings the game into disrepute, etc). El Bostero
Denying a goal or obvious goal scoring opportunity would be a send off, of course.
