2014/15 - November/December update

November was an excellent month, aside from the defeat at Blyth. We managed to get through to the FA Cup third round and a home tie against Burnley and to the Trophy second round against another BSP side Alfreton. We were unfortunate to go out against Alfreton as we were leading and dominating the game at Crown Meadow but it wasn't to be as we were never really in the replay. A shock defeat at home to Redditch was a disappointing end to the year but we are still five points clear at the top and have an FA Cup third round tie next.

Matt Steele has been outstanding so far:

And finally, so immature I know but couldn't resist getting this guy on loan to provide cover on the left wing.

2014/15 - January/February update

January started off with our FA Cup tie with Burnley and they came out all guns blazing and hammered us in the first half, they were three up after 26 minutes, although we gave a good account of ourselves in the second half and with a last minute consolation from Lyle for the fans to cheer about. Unfortunately after all the cup runs we're only around £150k in the black, better but bear in mind the £350k loan. Two draws followed in the league and we were in danger of giving up top spot, however five wins in a row left us nine points clear. We drew all three games in February to end up only five points clear again and Tamworth don't look like losing at the moment.

2014/15 - End of season update

Positions graph

March started off with a defeat at high flying Bradford PA, who themselves had a chance of snatching top spot from us at the time. A couple of good wins later and we were on the brink of becoming champions, but then suffered a couple of poor defeats and it was game on again. Credit to the team though as we won the last four as everyone else around us crumbled and won the title by a healthy 13 points from Taworth and Bradford PA.

The last match against Tamworth was almost a capacity crowd to see us lift the trophy.

Matt Steele was the star of the season, finishing top scorer and highest rating, and Josh Gardiner with most assists in the league.

The team:

Max Ramsey - Conceded exactly a goal a game but overall had a good season.

Mick Freeman - Another good signing who did well all season.

Darren Breen - An excellent loan signing as we were short in the right back position.

Danny Edwards - Did well when needed, not sure if he can make it but good as a backup.

Graham Jones - Not bad, played quite a few games due to injuries elsewhere.

John Hope - Good backup to have as he can play right back or centre midfield.

Jose Cardoso - Well pleased to get him in and ended up as one of the players of the season.

Shane Andrews - Good loan signing from Wrexham who helped tighten the defence.

Matty Brotherton - Very good ball winning midfielder who played a lot more games this season.

Carl Dennerly - Very good season in the middle of the park, can step up a level in the BSP I think.

Alfonso Tur - Started the season in red hot form, but slowed down a bit as he became more a bit part player.

Josh Gardiner - Excellent season and kept Chalk on the right wing.

Anthony Chalk - Well pleased with this signing and he didn't disappoint, excellent on the left or right wing.

Jakub Stawinski - Actually did very well when needed, scoring 11 goals in all competitions, 36 now so coming to the end of his career.

Danny Rains - The board were pleased with this loan signing, did well but was outshined by Steele.

Alan Lyle - Good scoring record as he played 23 games this season, still one to watch.

Matt Steele - Outstanding all season.

Danny Roberts has signed a new contract at Lowestoft Town.
