Darlington were in action in the Carling Cup Second Round at home to Southend, and this meant Nick Morgan was in action. Darlington took the lead midway through the first half thanks to Joey Hutchinson and led going into the break. An unlucky deflection allowed Southend to equalise in the last quarter of the game but another goal from Joey Hutchinson allowed Darlington to progress.

Fahd Hakeem was, once again, unselected in the Oberhausen squad as they progressed from the Second Round of the DFB-Pokal with a 2-1 win at home to Cottbus.

Following his team's performance in the CIS insurance cup, North has announced his displeasure at not being named captian, and warned that this may hasten his eventual departure from the club.

"I should eventually be playing at the highest levels of club football, which is not where this team is at. While I will strive to get the club to that level, If we do not make it I will have to leave. If that is the case, I need the captaincy to showcase my talents. Whether that means moving on into a captain's role elsewhere, I don't know"

"It is rare to find a successful captain that has played on the wings, sometimes on the periphery of the action. As a central midfielder, I can have a greater influence on the game."

"I don't doubt Timmeh's ability, and he may well be a great captain, but I would be better suited to the role." </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

And some crazy time skips going on, eh Daz?

Chris Nicol was in action for Chelsea Reserves as they travelled to face Norwich Reserves. They gained their first point as, after a goal from Darren Huckerby, Nicol himself scored (I believe the first OTF goal?) to level the score at 1-1, the way the game ended.

Raith travelled to SPL side Livingston in the CIS Cup Second Round, with both Timmy Newell and Michael North in the starting line-up. Newell wasn't captain anymore, it had now been handed to a youngster on loan from Hearts. The first half was goal-less but some good through balls by North had set-up a couple of good chances for the away side. Livingston took the lead before North and Newell combined to set-up Murtagh for the equaliser. North was substituted shortly afterwards and, unfortunately for Raith, Livingston went on to win the game 2-1.

Also in CIS Cup Second Round action was Jolinho as his team, Montrose, travelled to Gretna. He was having a good game but a strong challenge just before half-time meant that he had to be subsituted during the break. In his absence, Montrose tried their best but buckled under pressure and went down by 3 goals to nil, their misery compounded by a red card late on.

It was time for the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round, and that meant that there were plenty of OTF'ers in action. This didn't include Pete Daniels, who failed to make the bench for Tiverton's trip to Hucknall. He won't get another chance to appear in the Cup this season as Hucknall cantered to a 3-0 win.

It did include Richard McKeon though, and he was named as captain of the Burscough side that travelled to Chorley. It was goal-less at half-time but less than give minutes into the second half McKeon rifled home a right-footed volley (the first goal then HHNF?) to give his side the lead and, ultimately, the victory. Captain McKeon also received the man of the match award for his performance.

Matt Felstead was selected at right-back for Yeading as they travelled to Waltham Forest. Yeading found themselves behind in the first minute as a mistake from Felstead led to Waltham taking the lead. They levelled pretty quickly and it was level at half-time, although Yeading were now down to ten men. Those ten men, including Felstead, did well to hold out and earn a replay.

Bishop Auckland had been drawn away at Guiseley, and Red Hector was selected as a left-back for the match. Hector, who can also play in midfield, was solid throughout and helped his side pick up a 1-1 draw and a replay, earning himself man of the match in the process.

Alex Gibson was on duty in the right wing for Basingstoke away at Bath. The visitors raced two ahead quickly but Bath got to within one before the break. Gibson was substituted in the 65th minute but, nevertheless, Basingstoke held out for a 2-1 victory.

Droylsden were in action away at Thame Utd, but neither Rich Hughes or Steve McGuinness managed to make even the game for the bench for the game. Droylsden still secured passage into the next round with a tense 1-0 win.

Involved in the centre of midfield for Worcester away at Sittingbourne was Rammy Ram-Ram and his side led at half-time. The second half brought no further goals and Worcester went through with a 1-0 win.

Jamie Cartwright was selected in goal ahead of one-time Welsh-international Roger Freestone as his Newport County side play at home to Stalybridge Celtic. Newport were two-up at the break and Cartwright had been playing well but Stalybridge pulled it back and levelled in the 89th minute so the game finished 2-2 and will go to a replay.

Bognor Regis named Gavin Connolly as captain for their game away at Runcorn. Good work between Connolly and Budd saw Connolly set up the latter for a goal before half-time but minutes after the half-time restart Runcorn netted two and went ahead. Bognor equalised and only a yellow in injury time marred a solid performance from Connolly as the game ended level, needing a replay.

Recent recruit Edward Simpson was selected on the left of midfield for Cirencester's trip to Berkhamsted. Lacking match-fitness, Simpson was substituted midway through the second half but Cirencester were already one-up. It stayed that way and they progressed to the next round.

Blyth gave their right-hand to OTF'ers away at Solihull as David Smith was chosen at right-back and Joey Moore was picked at right midfield. Solihull were one up at half-time and extended their lead early in the second half. Both Moore and Smith were removed from the game with less than 20 minutes left but Blyth still went down by two goals to nil.

FA Cup Second Qualifying Replays took place with a number of OTF'ers playing as their sides had failed to win in the first tie. Matt Felstead was booked late in the second half in an otherwise good performance from him and Yeading as they defeated Waltham Forest 2-1. The scoreline suggests it was close but, infact, the one for Forest was their only shot.

Red Hector played for Bishop Auckland as they hosted Guiseley after the draw in the first game. A goal-less first was followed by a dire second half, in which only a Guiseley goal was action of note. That meant that Hector and Auckland crash out of the Cup.

After a good first game, Jamie Cartwright was in goal as Newport were taken back to Stalybridge after the home side fought back from two behind in the first game. Cartwright made three great saves in the first half and more followed in the second half. Stalybridge even missed a penalty, putting it wide, but Cartwright could only look on as his strikers failed to take any chances of their own. The game was heading to extra time but Stalybridge scored in the 92nd minute to snatch the win.

Bognor Regis faced Runcorn at home in their replay, and Gavin Connolly was named as captain. He clearly had his team fired up because he created two goals in the first three minutes and then set up another later on in the first half. Runcorn pulled one back just before the break to give themselves a glimmer of hope and they got to within one early in the second half. Fortunately, Connolly wasn't the only one having a good game and Bognor added two goal to win 5-2.

Whilst all those games were going on, Chris Nicol was in action for Chelsea Reserves at home to Wolves Reserves. Nicoln played his part in both of Chelsea's first two goals as he set up Parker and Poole to give the Blues the lead. Wolves pulled one back before half-time and levelled just after but a goal fron sub Younghusband gave Chelsea the lead again. Both sides were reduced to ten men before the end but Chelsea held out for the 3-2 win.

The next round of the FA Cup Qualifying section arrived and quite a few OTF'ers found themselves involved. Bognor Regis travelled to Moor Green with captain Gavin Connolly looking to have as good a game as he had in the last round. At half-time, Bognor found themselves two down and Moor Green extended their lead in the last minute as Bognor Regis were taken down to ten men. Not a good day for Connolly and his team as they crashed to a 3-0 defeat, Connolly playing a '4' performance. (get it?)

Matt Felstead saw his Yeading side drawn at home to Dorchester and he was in action as the two sides met. It was Yeading who went ahead but then Dorchester scored two to lead themselves. Felstead played a great ball that led to Yeading converting a penatly and levelling affairs and moments later Yeading were back infront before half-time. Felstead was then beaten for pace as Dorchester levelled but on the hour mark Matt Miller completed his hat-trick to again put Yeading ahead. They got their fifth with just over ten minutes left and it appeared to be over but Dorchester wouldn't lie down and pulled one back to give Yeading a nervous five minutes of added. They held out though, and Felstead could be playing against Conference sides in the next round as Yeading eventualyl triumphed 5-4.

Cirencester hosted Wingate & Finchley in their tie and Edward Simpson was selected in the starting line-up despite still not being fully fit after joining a couple of weeks ago. An own goal saw Cirencester lead at half-time and they doubled their lead on the hour mark. It was three moments later and Simpson, playing the full ninety minutes, nearly made it four hitting a post. He did manage to make it four in injury time when he hammered in a right-footed half volley. A good performance from Simpson and Cirencester saw them progress 4-0.

Rammy Ram-Ram travelled with Worcester to take on Billericay and the visitors raced into a two-goal lead. Ram-Ram was carded before half-time but he didn't let it affect his performance. He saw a shot go just wide of the post as he tried to further the lead but it didn't matter as he put in a man of the match performance to help Worcester to a 2-0 win.

As with the last round, Droylsden decided against selecting both Steve McGuinness and Rich Hughes as they faced a home tie with Dartford. The away side went into an early but Droylsden managed to level things up before half-time. They then took the lead around the 60 minute mark and this turned out to be the winner as they went through, winning by two goals to one.

After a superb performance in the last round, both Richard McKeon and Burscough would be hoping for more of the same at home to Wakefield & Emley. Captain McKeon set up Burscough's opener and they added another two before the final whistle, Martindale getting a hat-trick, to progress thanks to a 3-0 win.

Alex Gibson was selected for Basingstoke as they faced Bamber Bridge at home in their match. The game ended goal-less, and Bamber Bridge did well to hold out as they were reduced to ten men with fifteen minutes left. The sides now need a replay.

Alex Gibson travelled to Bamber Bridge and started for Basingstoke in their 3rd Qual. Round replay in the FA Cup. Basingstoke led at half-time thanks to Gibson himself after he headed home a Whiddett corner. This looked to have won the game for the away side but an own goal from captain Bristow in the last minute sent the game into extra-time. Bamber Bridge then took a shock lead in the first half of extra-time before Bristow compunded his misery by getting sent off. Bamber Bridge added a third before the break and then a fourth in the second period to defeat Basingstoke 4-1.

It was Spanish Cup night in Spain (amazingly) and that meant action for a lot of the OTF players. It also meant that some OTF players were watching from the stands. Three of these players were Real Madrid trio Taz Devil, Brendan Concan and Jakup Osskissun. All three sat in the stands as Real Madrid scraped past Tenerife 3-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the normal and extra-time.

Another who wasn't selected for his team was Angus MacGuyver, and he was also in the stands (albeit at a different game). His Numancia side travelled to Sporting and they went home with their tails between their legs after a 2-0 defeat.

In a similar fashion to the previous players mentioned, Getafe's Frank Appraisal was forced to view the action from the sidelines. His viewing will not have been as nerve-wracking however, as Getafe easily brushed aside Mar Menor by three goals to one.

In one of the more interesting ties of the night, Vecindario hosted Barcelona, a tie that was screened live on television in Spain. Benny Haesebrouck failed to get selected for Barcelona but Chris Porter made the Vecindario bench. Two goals from Larsson saw the visitors leading at half-time and they added a third almost immediately after the restart through Márquez. Shortly after this third goal Porter entered the game, but his contribution was limited and the game ended 3-0 to Barca.

Páraja Playas decided not to name Michael Orzelek in the squad for their home tie against Valencia. Due to this decision, Orzelek will have to wait another year for a chance at cup action as Valenica strolled to a comfortable 2-0 win.

Jonathon Bevington was another who had to watch his side play from the stands as Real Betis travelled to Gimnástica. Inside the first ten minutes the visitors has both scored and been reduced to ten men, but even that did nothing to affect their dominance as they progressed to Round Three with a 2-0 win.

Ceuta had been drawn at home to Zaragoza but if a shock was to be dished out by the home side, they would do it without Tim Van Speybroeck, who had failed to make the squad. Cueta took a very early lead but by half-time Zaragoza had installed themselves as the leaders with two quick goals. No further goals in the second half saw Zaragoza go through 2-1 winners.

Niether Ben Schooling nor Luke Carlisle managed to secure a place in the Cuidad de Murcia squad as they faced Atletico Madrid at home. They would get the chance to appear in the third round though as a first half goal from Roberto Cuevas and a last minute effort from Luciano sealed a 2-0 win for the home side.

There was also cup action in England, as the Carling Cup Third Round was schedueled to take place. Chelsea succumbed to Liverpool at Stamford Bridge by a goal to but whilst that was happening Chris Nicol was turning out for the reserves at home to Aston Villa Reserves. The sides were goal-less at half-time and also full-time as well. Nicol was booked in the second half and also missed the best chance of the game shortly afterwards.

Darlington had been rewarded for their superb cup progress with a home ties against local rivals and Premiership side Middlesbrough. Rather than playing three upfront, Darlo opted for just two striker but Nick Morgan was one of them. Early goals from Mendieta and Németh effectively ended the game as a contest and Mendieta added a third before half-time. Southgate made it four and that was how it stayed. Morgan was subsituted with 25 minutes remaining.
