Yeah I'll be continuing the same save, when I get round to downloading the patch. Can't really be arsed to play FM today though.

So it will probably be Friday/Saturday by the time I finish September haha. And it wasn't even a draw, I lost 2-1 :[

Gonna continue my own save as well, altough Steam hasn't updated my game yet

I thought it was a draw, but a defeat?? Thats just shocking!!

My Player of the Month

Eren Derdiyok -his form has seen a change of shape with Eren going up top and pushing Kiessling out to an advanced left wing position.

Goal of the Month

Gonzalo Castro - maybe a fluke but I think he meant it and the importance of the goal was massive as we were 1-0 down but we went on to win 4-1 after this goal.

No no, was a shot!

On the new patch?

It was a shot.

Definitely a cross. Rubin aren't that bad a team anyway, got some quality players, like Carlos Eduardo.

Yes it was a shot

Was never a cross. Yea, I know they arent bad but you need to beat them if you wanna get out of the group.

Stefan Kiessling – had to be Stefan as he scored 4 of our 7 goals as well as 3 Man of the Match awards. He really stepped it up in the absence of both Helmes and Derdiyok due to injury.

Goal of the Month

Stefan Kiessling – that man again! This goal brought us back into the game where we ended up snatching a draw after being 3-1 down and this delightful lob gave us the momentum to turn the game around.

Goal of the Month

Patrick Helmes vs HSV - not for the finish, but for the build up before the goal. Also, it was an important goal as it turned out to be the winner.

Nice results bar october. Kiesslings lob was beautiful.

You will be reading about my new game when i get the season under way.

Well written updates by the way

The only reason we arent top is because of the draws in October, we're 5 points behind Bayern.

Good luck with the new game.

Thanks.

Evil - I doubt I'll win it, I'll settle for Champions League qualification

He looks great but I'm enjoying this save on 11.1

Bayern always dropped stupid points on mine if you could beat them away they drop silly points so you would be back in with a shout imo.

Great updates Burns. Remember my first season, I was at least 5 points behind Bayern for the majority of the season, then I kept on winning and they just dropped points all over the place and I won it by a fair margin in the end.

You planning on switching to a narrow diamond permanently then?

Evil, Lucas looks great, but he's not German enough for my liking :p

I'll be getting back to my save tonight, had a busy few days though.

Thanks Joe. well we are now 7 points behind them and Wolfsburg have overtaken us.

No, gonna stick with my 4-5-1/4-3-3 but its just a nice option to have.

Exactly the reason why I won't buy him.

Any chance of these updates? :p

Who do you think would be better to tutor lucas barnetta or augusto.

And the updates will come with a few additions.

Speaking of Lucas,

http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/233776-FM11-Lucas-%28SPFC%29

I'll just leave that here. I signed him for a save with Gladbach and he started 24 games in the first season with avg rating around 6.9. He's been on fire in the preseason and EL qualifying so far in the second year. He's a great, versatile player to have.

Joe you mind if i use your template,i have a few revolutionary ideas in the field of updates lolz.

Aha of course. It's hardly a revolutionary format :p

I bet you'll still catch up.

In the first season I started 50% of games with the 4-5-1, 50% with a 4-2-3-1. Generally found the 4-2-3-1 to get a lot more posession and chances, but it was a lot weaker defensively without Vidal sitting as deep as usual. Also switced to a 4-2-4 a lot towards the end of games. Never tried a narrow diamond though. This season it's maybe 80% 4-5-1, 20% 4-2-3-1.

Link to post

The 4-2-3-1 works really well with kiessling upfront less so with helmes.

i use the 4-2-3-1 75% of the time 4-4-2 diamond 15% and 4-2-4 and 4-3-3 5% each i would say.

And a contender for goal of the month in my first league game.

Make that 10 points now :(

90% of the time I start 4-5-1, and usually change to a 4-2-4 if we need a goal and a 4-2-2-1-1 if we are protecting a lead.

Thats why Helmes has so few starts for me, cause he can't play as a lone striker so if I do play the diamond with 2 up top it means he gets a start.

Upload the goal :)

August 2010 Monthly Update

Transfers

Transfers In

Lucas 3.6 million: Young versatile attacking midfielder who can play on either wing future replacement for Barnetta.

Mario Gotze 450k loan fee 8 million future fee: Backup for Barnetta and will start in rotation with sam on the other wing.

Adil Rami 5.5 million: Quick strong defender with great attributes though can be a little rash.

Transfers Out

Burak Kapal 5.5 million over 48 months: Good but not as good as Lucas and 5.5 million is too good to be refused.

Manuel Friedrich 3.8 million: Not good enough for Leverkusen so of he went.

Dortmund 1-1 Leverkusen Barnetta.

So a satisfactory but slightly disappointing month.

The First 3 games i was in control of and we could of won by 4-5 goal margins but i opted to keep payers fresh over that.

The Dortmund game was frustrating for two reasons.

Firstly as we were dominated from start to finish by Dortmund.

And secondly as we went 1-0 up only to be pegged back by really poor defending by Castro.

Player of the month

Michael Ballack

The reason Michael got this was because in every match he played he dominated the midfield and was a real goalscoring threat.

Goal of the month

There were a coupe of not that great contenders for this month but this but Michael Ballacks 20 yard strike vs Frankfurt wins it.

I would of sone a few stats but there are not any odd ones.

My Player of the Month

Patrick Helmes scored a great hat trick to win the game against Dortmund, was the only positive in a bad month that has seen us fall 7 points behind FC Bayern.

Goal of the Month

Eren Derdiyok vs. St. Pauli – this goal was the best of a bad lot as 2 of Helmes goals were tap-in’s and the other was a penalty, nonetheless a great finish.

Decided to restart my game with the new patch. Again I removed Balitsch and Ballack via Editor.

Noteable outs so far are Friedrich who went to Lille on a loan and Barnetta who got me some funds to bring in some new young talents. Midfield got Sven Bender (Dortmund, 3.2m) and Patrick Funk (Stuttgart, 2.3m). For the defense I signed Werley (Atl. Mineiro, 1.9m) and Sebastian Jung (Frankfurt, 4.5m)

As backup for my three strong strikers I loaned Niflore, I don't want to hire a long-term guy here because I have hopes to get something out of Sukuta-Pasu when he comes back.

I'm mostly done now, not sure about the winger positions though. I have a bit left of my budget so I might bring in either Deniz Naki, Marco Reuss or Timo Gebhardt. Also I am unsure wether to keep Renato Augusto or not. He's a good player, but in most of my games he requested a transfer during the first season so I am not sure if I want to count on his loyality or just sell him now and get a long-term solution for him.

I just hope Helmes turns out as lethal as in my first game :)

Thats how I plan to play:

Results Analysis and conclusion

Another good month with a disappointing result at Gladbach where we lacked penetration and clear cut chances followed up by a great performance against Wolfsburg even without Rami for the last 30 minutes as we created a lot of chances and Kiessling took them.

I am especially pleased with the way we dealt with Dzeko who had 1 shot on target which was a speculative 40 yard effort contrast this to my performance against Gladbach where i only 4 shots on target.

Injuries

Mario Gotze 6-8 weeks

Renato Augusto 2-3 weeks

Player Of the month

No real outstanding players this month but the award goes to Kiessling for the amount of important goals.

Can I ask why you removed Balitsch and Ballack Dinu?

I just dislike the persons (as i know them from TV). I acknowledge that Ballack might have class and like I said, Balitsch does a surprisingly good job in RL but what I see/saw from them in the past in interviews, behaviour on the pitch, etc I am not fond of them. (thats why I never will hire Podolski :))

9 games to go (10 for Wolfsburg) and thanks to our decent recent form and Bayern dropping points, the league table now looks like this:

GermanFirstDivisionInformation_LeagueTable-8.png

And here is the recent results and run in's for the top 3 altough Stuttgart and Bremen can't be completly ruled out.

Leverkusen

Bayern

Wolfsburg

A possible dramatic title deciding last day with Bayern playing Leverkusen while Wolfsburg play Bremen.

Ah Ballack's a ledge, but then again I am a Chelsea fan :)

How's Vida doing for you Burns? Interesting that you're playing him ahead of Hyypia and Friedrich. Told you you'd win the league anyway, never had any doubt :p
