West Ham enter a brave new era – The rouchie years – Season 2

A new hope (for consistency)

Transfers In

Gabriel Tamas was snapped up from Spartak Moscow for £2.8 million to bolster the defence. Paul Rouch was particularly excited about the purchase as he feels Tamas will grow to be a world class player. We shall see! A number of other players were targeted but last minute complications with work permits meant that their signatures were not secured in this transfer window, although the manager remains hopeful of securing their services in the next window.

Transfers Out

Veteran striker Teddy Sheringham was allowed to leave on a free transfer after loyal and gratefully received service to the club. Welsh international defender James Collins was sold to Rangers for an initial fee of £1.6 million and a sell on clause was inserted in to the contract.

Friendlies

V Pirin (A) 10-7-07 1-0 Win

V Rodopa (A) 12-7-07 1-2 loss

V Levski (Sofia) (A) 15-7-07 0-0 Draw

V Burnley (A) 18-7-07 1-0 Win

So a mixed bag of results with 2 wins a draw and 1 loss icon_confused.gif

The Season Proper!

West Ham Vs Fulham – Saturday 18th August 2007

A local derby to kick the season but a crap game and a disappointing bore draw to start the new campaign icon_frown.gif

Final Score : West Ham 0 Fulham 0

Attendance :35481

Man Of The Match:John Pantsil (West Ham)

Sunderland Vs West Ham – Wednesday 22nd August 2007

A trip to the north east to face newly promoted Sunderland, and on this evidence it will be a short visit to the premiership for the Geordies. Carlton Cole grabbed a goal to open the scoring just before the half hour and the only surprise was that it took the visitors this long to score! An own goal in the second half finished the game off and saw the Irons running out 2-00 winners giving their loyal fans something to sing about on the long trek home icon_biggrin.gif

Final Score : Sunderland 0 West Ham 2

West Ham Scorers :Cole (28) Leadbitter (OG 62)

Attendance :35592

Man Of The Match:Gabriel Tamas (West Ham)

So an unbeaten start to the season, will it continue? Stay tuned ……………

The New Season

Having avoided relegation it was nice to hear from our board that next years target would be exactly that, avoid relegation!

Although they showed this in the generosity of their transfer budget, a whooping 500k!

So this really meant one thing, we're gonna have to sell to buy, I dont mind that as my plan is to reduce the wage bill to

begin with anyway, too much dead wood in the team and we need to youngsters to liven things up.

So here are the ins and out

Transfers In

Robert Kovac - DC - Free

George Lucas - WBR/DR - Free

Wernbloom - DMC - 250k

Jesus Mendez - DMC 600k

Sinan Bolat - GK - 550k

Philipp Tschauner - GK - 55k

Marek Jankulovski Every where! - 1.7m

Halmosi - AM/DL - 170k

Transfers Out

Stubbs - Released - Earned too much and at the end of the road, just had to go

Richard Wright - Released - Once again, a whole load of nothing.

Simon Davies - Brought by Wolves for 2.2million, much needed cash.

Van der Meyde - Im glad his wages are off my bill! 300k in return as he moves across to Dave's Citeh

Naysmith - Signs for a dire 20k but with 50% sell on, I just wanted rid, he wasnt ever gonna play

There were also some youths released who just didnt make the grade im afraid!

Anyway, I was happy with my purchases and stretching the budget as far as I could, it has made us under budget in terms of Salary and we still have plenty of money in the bank meaning the club are not in debt anymore and hopefully moving into a new future!

The first game of the season came and went, the opener of the new league season was very mouth watering as we face Liverpool!

Everton vs Liverpool

It was the all known hero's who did the honours here and started the new season in great fashion with a win again our fierce rivals! Johnson and Beattie scored, although it was the 94th minute, a win is a win!

Everton 2 - 1 Liverpool

Reading vs Everton

Should have won this but I think its gonna be a season like West Ham had last year, consistenly inconsistent! Hleb scored a great free kick and we really should have won this game but they scored such a late goal it was unbelievable!

Reading 2 - 1 Everton

Everton vs Pompey (Steff)

We scored all 4 goals, yes it was an own goal from George Lucas, guess the force wasnt with him! But Pompey started out the brighter of the two sides but after a rapid increase of yellow cards for his players, one eventually saw red! That was all that was needed and the goals then came thick and fast. Cahill scored and the other two were by James Vaughan who bagged a brace having scored 3 goals in his first two England U21 matches.

Everton 3 - 1 Pompey

Everton vs Plymouth League Cup

No idea what went on in this game as I wasnt there but Kovac and Lescott did the honours and scored to take us to the next round!

Everton 2 - 0 Plymouth

Aston Villa vs Everton

Well the last lose another away game but again, the assistant was in charge so I couldnt tell you if it was a close game or not! But they didnt score enough to win is what I know for sure! Vela scored in this one.

Aston Villa 3 - 1 Everton

Everton vs Man Utd

We could have won this game but we're struggling to get a squad together, especially in the striker department, after only 10 minutes, our only two strikers were playing and ended up both injured, so that we then still managed to finish 2-2 against Utd was out of this world! Hleb and Jankulovski the scorers in this game.

Everton 2 - 2 Man Utd

Wolves vs Everton

I think I need a tactic for away games, although I dominated against the Wolves I just couldnt finish, we just cant afford to do that against these type of sides, a must win game that we didnt come away with maximum points.

Wolves 0 - 0 Everton

Everton vs Chelsea

After two minutes Torres scored for Chelsea, after this, if it wasnt for the fact that we had no strikers it could have been an Everton win, but Chelsea are top of the league and we made them work very hard for this win.

Everton 0 - 1 Chelsea

Newcastle vs Everton League Cup

We started so bloody well aswell here! I thought any second the ball would go in but no, a screamer from Emre saw the end of that, although Van Gaal has done wonders at Tyneside and they are now playing some great attacking football!

Newcastle 2 - 0 Everton

Newcastle vs Everton

After the cup game I just knew what was gonna happen, the exact repeat of the above funnily enough! A good start saw us fade away and they banged in two goals we could have prevented, back to the drawing board for away games for sure!

Newcastle 2 - 0 Everton

Well, we've faced some of the top teams already and after a steady 10th position we slowly slipping down the table towards our real home! We need to sort out the away tactic and hire some bodyguards for our strikeforce they just keep getting injured in matches by the opponents defenders! We really need Beattie back as that lack of aerial ability is showing, hopefully a turn around coming up!

The future of Everton looks better though! New players, new structured finances........is the managers job actually now done? Stay tuned to find out more......

There comes a time when every member of a clan has an embarrassing result here or there.

In EFB we had a few especially suffered by young Stephen Riddell who was ridiculed for years not even months. He was a Hearts fan too like young Sandy Pettigrew. Now young Pettigrew is quite good at this old game FM but tonight he suffered thee worst result I have ever came across in CM/Fm online gaming. The scene was set at the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners taking on the Villa and Pettigrew would have fancied his chances of pulling off a draw at least but no, low and behold the lad suffered the humiliation of this defeat...........................

For the whole online commumity I present to you in association with 'We all hate those Jambo *****' and 'lets all laugh at mad Vlad' thee best screenshot you are ever likely to witness on these forums!!!

Enjoy one and all..................................

The Season Proper!

West Ham Vs Arsenal – Saturday 15th September 2007

Another local derby after the international break, and West Ham get off to an ideal start with Mascherano netting after just 5 minutes! That was the only goal of the first half and West Ham left the field deservedly ahead. The restart saw a much more adventurous Arsenal side and Henry nabbed the equaliser almost immediately! West Ham were stright back in it though as Tevez reclaimed the lead within 2 minutes. Dutch star Van Persie levelled again for the gunnes mid way through the second half, and Lupoli snatched an ill deserved winner for the visitors 6 minutes from time leaving an incredulous West Ham wondering how they had thrown this game away?? icon_confused.gif

A famous night for the hammers as the outplayed and annihilated the scousers in their own back yard! The underperforming reds were kept on the back foot all night and were looking ragged from the moment Tevez scored the opener after just 11 minutes. West Ham enter a brave new era – The rouchie years – Season 2

A new hope (for consistency)

The Season Proper!

Portsmouth Vs West Ham – Saturday 3rd October 2007

Fellow clan manager Steff Browning and this south coast outfit were West Ham’ first opposition of the month, and a real ding dong battle it was! Goals from Etherington and Tevez in the first 5 minutes made it look like Pompey were going to be mauled, but a quick response from Adriano for the home side halted the threatened landslide! Quintana levelled just before the break. Etherington was quick out of the blocks in the second half as he grabbed his second to restore the lead, but Quintana also netted his brace to level again on 50 minutes! The fans hardly had time to draw breath!! Eventually the game was settled Dean Ashton as he belted home the winner on 71 minutes and sealed the win on a very entertaining game icon_eek.gif

Final Score : Portsmouth 3 West Ham 4

West Ham Scorers : Etherington (4, 47) Tevez (5) Ashton (71)

Portsmouth Scorers : Adriano (12) Quintana (45,50)

West Ham Scorers : Ashton (90)

Attendance : 39972

Man Of The Match: CZat Knight (Fulham)

Man Utd Vs West Ham – Saturday 27th October 2007

Man Utd were on fire in the first half and opened a seemingly unassailable 3 goal lead before the break. Whatever was said at half time was effective because West Ham came out and got themselves straight back in the game with a goal from Tevez after the restart! West ham camped in the utd half for the rest of the game but the second goal took its time coming and did not arrive until the 86th minute. United hung on to grab the three points icon_mad.gif

Final Score : Man Utd 3 West Ham 2

West Ham Scorers : Tevez (48) Cole (86)

Manure Scorers : Rossi (6) Smith (32) Pazzini (44)

The Rovers Record - A new season and starting again!!!!!

Well it's a new season and Hepburn is hoping to start again after a dismal first season in charge of Blackburn Rovers. He talked a lot about how good his pedigree was albeit on a football simulation ffs but Hepburn is just starting to realise how big real life football management is. Rovers spent much of the season fighting relegation after a dismal run in europe that lasted no more than two matches. He managed to keep them up but the fans and everyone else connected with the Rovers are expecting a lot more in the coming season. Hepburn knew he was under presure to perform and went about pre season like a man possessed. He had his players in morning and afternoon for some tough pre season and also managed to find time to spend the little money he had on new players to try and bolster his side. He managed to bring in......

Stilian Petrov DM/AMC - £3 million from Aston Villa - A fantastic signing for Blackburn as he negoiated successfully with his old mate Sandy Pettigrew to bring Petrov to Ewood Park for a superb fee. Pettigrew wanted to rid and Hepburn was only to happy to part with most of his budget for a superb player who will add bags of energy to the Blackburn midfield and should weigh in with a few goals.

Wilfred Bouma DLC - £1 million from Aston Villa - Hepburn again went back to Villa to sign a proven Dutch international for another cut price deal. Again Pettigrew got rid as part of his mass clearance and Hepburn jumped at the chance to sign a player he has admired and knows will add much needed strength to his defence.

Teemu Tainio MC - Free Transfer from Tottenham - Another bargain for Hepburn as this time he went to another of his mates Rob Perry to seal another international player going nowhere fast with Perry in charge. Will add some steel to the midfield, which was sadly lacking last season.

Callum Elliot - Season long loan from Tottenham - Hepburn also managed to snap this young Scottish striker from Tottenham for the season to give him regular first team football before Perry bloods him into his own team. Has bags of potential and hopefully Hepburn can nurture him into a better player before he returns to Tottenham.

So not many new signings due to financial restraints but Hepburn was more than happy with the players he has managed to bring in as his gets his team ready for the new season. The Rovers also managed a few wins in pre season as they went into the season high on confidence but Hepburn knew it was only friendlies. Here is how pre season went for Rovers......................

Blackburn v Lens - (H) Sat 7th July 2007

Final Score - Blackburn 2 v 1 Lens

Sloboda (V) v Blackburn - (A) Thurs 12th July 2007

Final Score - Sloboda (V) 0 v 5 Blackburn

Masor v Blackburn - (A) Sat 14th July 2007

Final Score - Masor 1 v 3 Blackburn

Inter (Z) v Blackburn - (A) Mon 16th July 2007

Final Score - Inter (Z) 1 v 2 Blackburn

Blackburn v Bordeaux - (H) Sat 21st July 2007

Final Score - Blackburn 3 v 1 Bordeaux

Nottm Forest v Blackburn - (A) Sat 28th July 2007

Final Score - Nottm Forest 0 v 4 Blackburn

A superb pre season for Blackburn and they headed into a tough season opener at home to Arsenal full of confidence.

Premiership

Blackburn v Arsenal - (H) Sat 18th August 2007

A huge season opener for Rovers as they faced Arsenal who thrashed them last season so Blackburn had a point to prove. It was a much different game from last season as Blackburn battled and got in Arsenal's faces, which they did not like. An early own goal from Lauren gave Rovers the confidence to get something from this game. They rode their luck at times but were well worth their 1-0 half time lead. It got even better in the second half as Robbie Savage put them two ahead and Arsenal were rocking. Benni McCarthy added a third soon after and suddenly Rovers were coasting to victory. The fans were shocked and Hepburn was shocked at just how well this game had panned out for his team. The Gunners pulled one back but it meant nothing in the end and Blackburn earned a superb victory.

Final Score - Blackburn 3 v 1 Arsenal

Goals - Blackburn - Lauren (og,10), Savage (50), McCarthy (64)

Goals - Arsenal - Adebayor (90)

Att - 31284

MOTM - David Bentley (Blackburn)

Premiership

Liverpool v Blackburn - (A) Wed 22nd August 2007

It did not get any easier for Rovers as after the huge game against Arsenal they faced another huge game away at Liverpool although they won the same fixture with ease last season. It was another huge test and again Rovers came out of it with flying colours. They dominated the game for large periods and the scoreline should have been a lot more. A goal in either half was enough to win the game. McCarthy opened the scoring just before half time and then Pedersen sealed the win in the last minute. It should have been over long before that as they missed a hatful of chances but they got the job done in the end. A superb win for Blackburn that saw them go top of the table!!!!!

Final Score - Liverpool 0 v 2 Blackburn

Goals - Blackburn - McCarthy (41), Pedersen (90)

Att - 43619

MOTM - Morten Gamst Pedersen (Blackburn)

A fantastic start to the season for Blackburn and many could believe that after two games against Arsenal and Liverpool they would be sitting top of the table with six points. Hepburn was delighted at the start they had made and lets hope they can keep this sort of form up for a long time to come.

The Miserable Manc Update

Its time to continue on with the season at hand and unfortunately the first bit of news is an injury, with Kily Gonzalez out for 2 months with a hip injury.

League Cup 2nd Round

Swindon 0 - 2 Manchester City

A good chance to progress in the cup here with an away tie at Swindon. Sylvian Distin gives Citeh the lead after only 10 minutes. And Mokoena raps up the win early in the second half.

Man City scorers: Distin (10), Mokoena (53)

Attendance: 9528

MotM: Distin (Man City)

Good to progress into the next round of the cup and its Middlesbrough away in the next round.

Premiership

Sunderland 2 - 0 Manchester City

Another game against premiership newcomers. This time its Sunderland. But it looks like Man City who look like the new boys as they concede a goal within the first 10 minutes. And Citeh didn't ever show any signs of coming back into the game as Kavanagh scores a penalty early in the second half to seal the win.

Sunderland scorers: Lawrence (9), Kavanagh (pen 52)

Attendance: 33026

MotM: Wallace (Sunderland)

Very dissapointing performance, and we will need to improve if we want to get anything from Arsenal in the next game.

Premiership

Manchester City 3 - 2 Arsenal

Going into the game as 4-1 underdogs I didn't really hold much hope. But Darius Vassell gave us a glimmer of hope with a goal after only 4 minutes. But Arsenal pegged it back only 5 minutes later. The first half comes to a close with Arsenal looking in total control. Into the second half and Toure gives Arsenal the lead after only 4 minutes. And just when it looked like it was all over for Citeh the new Manc Starlet Vecchio came into the game and grabbed both the equaliser and winner with only 10 minutes to go. His first ever goals for Citeh.

Man City scorers: Vassell (4), Vecchio (78, 89)

Arsenal scorers: Ljunberg (9), Toure (49)

Attendance: 47886

MotM: Richards (Man City)

A fantastic comeback to take the 3 points from one of the top teams in the league there. And to add to Micah Richards man of the match award he is also awarded with the young player of the month award.

Premiership

Liverpool 5 -1 Manchester City

With Liverpool currently struggling in the league at the moment Citeh were classed as favourites for this game. But Liverpool obviously didn't like this and Bellamy saw to it that Man City's dismal away form continues. Vecchio added another to his tally but it was to be no more than a consolation as Barton was sent off. 2 goals in the last minutes made the scoreline even more embarassing for Citeh.

Liverpool scorers: Bellamy (30, 34, 83), Alonso (89), Luis Garcia (91)

Man City scorers: Vecchio (65)

Sent off: Barton (75)

Attendance: 45354

MotM: Bellamy (Liverpool)

Absolute pish.

Premiership

Manchester City 2 - 2 Reading

A pretty poor first half ended in explosive fashion as Lita gave Reading the lead in the 46th minute. But Pocognoli equalised just before the half time whistle is blown. Samaras stepped up in the second half to give Citeh the lead but Lita got his second and gave Reading the draw.

Man City scorers: Pocognoli (47), Samaras (58)

Reading scorers: Lita (46, 66)

Attendance: 42150

MotM: Lita (Reading)

Another poor result but lets leave the league for now and go back to the cup.

League Cup 3rd Round

Middlesbrough 1 (1 aet 4) 1 Manchester City

Man City looked to secure their passage into the 4th round early on when Samaras opened the scoring after only 4 minutes. But Milan Baros equalised right on the stroke of half time. The second half was pretty boring and the game moved into extra time. Citeh proved to have the better stamina as the went on to hammer Boro in extra time. Although some people may attribute it to the sending off of Arca in the 106th minute.

Middlesbrough scorers: Baros (46)

Man City scorers: Samaras (4, 100), Mills (110), Mokoena (118)

Attendance: 25037

MotM: Veron (Man City)

A fantastic win there and its Sunderland at home in the 4th round.

Premiership

Portsmouth 2 - 0 Manchester City

A very poor performance from Citeh here and Dabo's injury adds to the misery. 2 goals in the second half give Portsmouth the deserved win.

Manchester City 3 - 3 Aston Villa

A change of tactic was required for this game and it looked like it might pay off as Citeh went into half time with a 2-1 lead. 55% possession and 7 out of 7 shots on target. But everything changes in the second half as Higuain grabs 2 goals. But new boy Ortiz gives Citeh a deserved point.

Man City scorers: Samaras (23), Vassell (33), Ortiz (85)

Aston Villa scorers: Sidwell (25), Higuain (51, 62)

Attendance: 47970

MotM: Higuain (Aston Villa)

A better performance in that game but a dissapointing defence.

League Cup 4th Round

Manchester City 2 (3 aet 2) 2 Sunderland

Another good chance for Citeh to progress. But its Sunderland who take a lead into the half time. In the second half and Richards is penalised for a head butt with a red card after 74 minutes. Just when it looked like Sunderland would make it to the next round Ortiz equalised in the 94th minute. Into extra time and things got worse for Citeh as Issakson gets carried off injured with no subs left to use. Zurawski is handed the keepers jersey and plays the last 25 minutes in goal. It Samaras however that gives Citeh the win in extra time.

Man City scorers: Carrus (22), Ortiz (94), Samaras (106)

Sunderland scorers: Cunningham (20), Connolly (28)

Sent Off: Richards (74)

Attendance: 40513

MotM: Pocognoli (Man City)

Another nice cup win in extra time and its the quarter finals next and a tricky home tie against Man United. But bad news is Micah Richards is handed another 5 games ban for his head butt in the last game.

Premiership

Chelsea 2 - 0 Manchester City

A dissapointing first half as Van der Meyde is sent off for an elbow and then Samaras is stretchered off injured. But on a positive note its 0-0 at half time. It looked like we may hang on to the draw until the last 5 minutes as Chelsea took control and scored 2 goals.

Chelsea scorers: Makelele (84), Torres (89)

Sent off Van der Meyde (31)

Attendance: 42329

MotM: Torres (Chelsea)

After that game Man City announce a link with Japanese team Sagamihara Topolino. Hopefully this tie will bring in some much needed money for the club.

Premiership

Manchester City 3 - 3 Newcastle

Another game where Citeh looked like they were back on their top game again. With zurawski grabbing a hattrick. But unfortunately the defence was very dissapointing again as Newcastle were able to match Citeh.

Man City scorers: Zurawski (34, 46, 76)

Newcastle scorers: Milner (35), Martins (53), Owen (82)

Attendance: 43220

MotM: Zurawski (Man City)

Premiership

Tottenham 4 - 0 Manchester City

Pure pish.

Spurs scorers: Defoe (12, 37), Delgado (39), Jenas (54)

Attendance: 40868

MotM: Jenas (Tottenham)

Final game for the session and its a home tie against last seasons struggler Everton without Steve at the helm.

Premiership

Manchester City 0 - 1 Everton

Another game that can only be decribed as pure pish. Totally boring and rubbish game.

Everton scorers: Vaughn (35)

Attendance: 47976

MotM: ?? (Everton no doubt)

I have not much to say except that I have a lot of work to do. We are playing terrible and we will have to turn things around sooner rather than later.

The Bolton Boogie - Hepburn joins Bolton!!!!

In a shock move last night it has emerged that former Blackburn manager is taking over as manager of now Championship side Bolton after resigning from Blackburn last night. Chairman Phil Gartside was quick to approach Hepburn to offer him an immediate return to action albeit in the Championship. The team has a load of talent in it, spearheaded by Kevin Nolan and Hepburn will be looking to get them back into the Premiership as quickly as possible. Hepburn had this to say as helt the Reebok Stadium in the early hours of the morning,

"I can't believe what has happened, it's all bit much to take in right now. I left Blackburn because quite frankly the players at the club are nothing more than a bunch of overpaid, talentless wasters and I was just sick and tired of them under performing week in week out. I got no backing from the chairman when it came to buying players there was just no ambition at the club so I just left in the end.

I now have a fabulous opportunity here at the Reebok with a team full of talent and I have felt a lot more welcome here already than I ever did at Ewood. Ok the team are not doing too well sitting in the Championship but I feel I can take this team back to the Premiership and competing at the highest level. I can't wait to get started tomorrow morning and take a look at the players I have."

So it's been a whirlwind few hours for Bolton and Hepburn and funnily enough he has leftout this fantasy Football manager computer he always went on about at Blackburn.

Jenkinson Appointed New Wigan Manager.

Wigan currently lying in 11th have decided to change there manager and have appointed unknown Gareth Jenkinson as new boss.

Jenkinson told the press that he hoped to prove himself at the top level with his fist managerial role and take Wigan on to heights never seen at the JJB before. ‘With the backing of the Chairman and the players I hope that this club can soon be considered a settled Premiership team and go on to push for trophies and European football in the near future’

Newcastle (a)

Jenkinson's first game in charge was a tough away gave to Newcastle. Jenkinson’s men where the underdogs and it showed as Newcastle pilled on the pressure in the opening 20 minutes before Martins was put through to fire home from inside the area. On 40 minutes Scott Parker was sent off for a second Yellow and it seemed things could be looking up for Wigan. Then minutes later it could have been two when Milner headed over from close range. The second half started the same as the first and it wasn’t long before Newcastle was 2-0 up and costing Milner crossed in from the right and duff was there to finish. Wigan clawed one back on 61 minutes when Scharner Fired in a strike from 25 years. Then a long ball found the head of angel who flicked on to Camara who finished from 10 yards. On 81 minutes a good run and cross by Teal found Angel who produced a wonder strike to send Jenkinson on to a win in his first game in charge.

Newcastle 2 Wigan 3

Charlton (h)

Next up for Wigan was Charlton at the JJB. The first real chance fell to Clarkson who was 1 on 1 with the keeper but Ashdown was able to save and push the ball to safety. Shortly after Angel Headed well over from 6 yards after a good 1-2 between Teal and Camara. In the second half a couple of half chance with a Dagoberto free kick going over from 25 yards and a header over from Angel going just wide before Henri Camara finished well from 6 Yards to give Wigan a 1-0 lead. Wigan then doubled the lead when Jackson crossed and Angel headed home at the front post. Charlton’s, Clarkson the shot wide from 12 yards to sum up a miserable day for Charlton.

Wigan 2 Charlton 0

Man City (a)

Next up was Man City and early chance in the game feel to Cotterill who crossed in and one of the city defenders nearly put the ball into their own net. A good ball saw samaras through 1 on 1 with the keeper only to rattle the bar. Cotterill then had a 25 yard effort turned over the bar before scoring the winning goal in the 35th minute which was enough for Man City to sack the manger.

WBA (h)

This was a very slow boring first half with no chance on or off target for either side. Wigan started the second half better and soon went 1-0 when Cotterill went down the right and found Angel in the box to head home. Todorov then equalised for WBA with a powerful strike from outside the area. There was chance either end but no one could find the net and the game ended rightly as a draw.

Wigan 1 WBA 1

Fulham (a)

Wigan faced Fulham who straight from kick on pilled on the pressure and was unlucky on a number of occasions not to take the lead with Svensson having the best of the chances. Wigan lucky not to go in behind was lucky when Boa Morte was flagged offside just after the re-start. Fulham finally took the lead when Scharner put the ball past his own keeper. Wigan then hit Fulham on the counter attack and Junker put the ball in the back of the net. Scharner then made up for his earlier Own goal with a great finish at the other end to give Jenkinson another 3 points.

Wigan 2 Fulham 1

Sunderland (a)

Wigan met Sunderland and the couldn’t get off to a worse start when Webster was sent off after 4 minutes after brought down the forward as last man. Sunderland took the lead on 30 mins with Kavanagh open the scoring with a cracker from 30 yards. Sunderland held the lead till the 42nd minute when Dagoberto finished from close. Lawrence then finished well at the back post to give Sunderland the lead once again. Lee McCulloch then crossed for Scharner to level up again before McCulloch himself scored a re-bound off the keeper to seal another victory for Wigan.

Wolves (a) FA Cup

This was a game which Wigan dominated but just couldn’t find the net. They did finally take the lead when a well taken free kick from Fitz Hall gave the keeper no chance and put Wigan into the 4th round draw.

Tottenham (h)

Tottenham started the game the best and had most of the possession but couldn’t convert that into a goal. Then Wigan took a surprising lead when Teal found Dagoberto with a 30 yard cross field pass and he put the ball into the top corner giving the keeper no chance. McCulloch made it two with a back post header. Delgado the scored on 69mins giving Tottenham hope but it wasn’t to be and Wigan pulled off a surprise victory at the JJB.

Arsenal (h)

Wigan again played host to a London Club. They took a surprise lead after 8 mins when Dagoberto finished from the tightest of angles. De Zeeuw then played an excellent pass to put Teal in who finished for his first goal of the season. Hleb went through 1 on 1 with Ashdown squared the ball to Rosicky to put into an empty net. Then a typical run and finished from Henry put the Gunners level before a Jackson OG gave Jenkinson his first defeat of the season.

Arsenal 3 Wigan 2

The Games !

August Games

Chelsea 3 - 1 Aston Villa

A poor performance by Aston Villa in truth which saw then get hammered 3-1 by billionaire's chelsea. The only consolation was that youngster Ray Jones who got a rare start grasped his opertunity buy scoring a wonderful header late on.

Aston Villa 2 - 2 Newcastle

Aston Villa failed to show up in the first half for this game with Gio VanBronkhorst opening the scoring early on and then just before half time Kieron Dyer doubled the lead for the toon. Pettigrew threw a barney at half time and took off Fletcher and Jones and brought on Sychev and O'Connor which prroved to be a piece of tactical genious with them two scoring two strikers goals to make it level and grab the first point of the season

September Games

Spartak Moscow 0 - Aston Villa 2

This game had disaster written all ove rit when Liam Ridgewell got sent off in the fourth minute of the game for taking out the last man. Spartak failed to capitalise on this and with Villa only playing 1 up front they did not create many chances. Garry O'Connor was playing as the loan striker and Vincent Enyeama had the game of his life with making saves left right and centre. In the 78th minute Pettigrew took off the exuasted O'Connor and brought on the youngster Fletcher just for a run out but in ten minutes Fletcher failed to do what Spartak had been trying all game. He smacked home a 20 yard strike to put Villa 1-0 up and then placed a 2nd home 2 minutes later to get the 2-0 lead and 2 away goals.

Tottanham 0 - 3 Aston Villa

Well Pettigrew did not show up for this game and paid the price with Cesar Delgado scoring 2 goals and Ziegler getting a third. Villa were rank in this game and Pettigrew had no comments to make.

Aston Villa 3 - 1 Everton

Steve will tell you the score did not reflect the game at all but that is rubbish, mt Villa side turned them upside down and inside out with Garry O'Connor opening the scoring early on to make it one nil and then the his young scottish strike partner Steven Fletcher scred just after to make it two nil to the lackluster poor Everton. For some reason Steve persists on playing Beattie and Johnson up front and leaving the most talented player in his squad on the bench in Carlos Vela who came on and was the only player for them who looked dangerous and grabbed himself a late goal but then substitute Sychev scored for Villa to finish off any hopes for Everton.

Aston villa 1 - 2 Spartak Moscow

All Villa needed was to keep hold of their 2 goal lead but they didnt half make it hard for themselves within the first minute when Kirichenko scored for the Moscow club. They then doubled the lead in the second half with them only needing one more goal to take them through but the saviour of Villa was none other than Brazilian starlet Kerlon who got his first goal for the club which turned out to be probably the most important to the club ever to keep them in europe.

Blackburn 0 - 1 Aston Villa

Andy Hepburn brought his helpless Blackburn into this game dying for some points but could not do anything to sto pa wonderful Steven David freekick going in to be the winner of the game. Andy does alot of trash talking but just does not have the tactical knowledge or skill to back it up !

October Games

Aston Villa 2 - 2 Wigan

Wigan took the lead by ex Villa player Juan Pablo Angel with a header from the edge of the box. Matty Dawson then scored minutes later from a Corner taken by Shunsuke Nakamura. Kevin Kilbane scored in the last minute of the game or what he thought to be but Ashley young basically scored as soon as it kicked off after the Kilbane goal and then the final whistle went to make it 2-2.

Club Brugge 1 - 1 Aston Villa

First game in the UEFA Cup group stages and Glen Sloover scored after the 5th minute to make Villa off to a bad start. The game was very stop start with villa commiting alot of fouls but Sychev made it 1-1with 15 minutes left with a left foot volley from the edge of the box.

Aston villa 2 - 0 Liverpool

This league cup encounter was a great win for Villa with Gonzalo Higuain getting his first goal of the season and 2 minutes later Sammi Hyppia scoring an own goal to end Liverpool's cup hopes.

Aston Villa 2 - 0 Charlton

A great performance from Higuain with him scoring a goal in the 5th and 67th minutes. Higuain is attracting alot of interest from other club in cluding Marseille, AC Milan and Barcalona. Pettigrew has said he is not going to consider anything less than 30-40 million.

November Games

Man city 3 - 3 Aston villa

This was a very entertaining game with Samaras opening the scoring early on but only with Stevie Sidwell making it 1-1 after just 10 minutes. Vassell then scored to make it 2-1. Higuain was then brought on and managed to score 2 goals in quick sucession but bloody Ortiz scored in the 94th minute to take a point for City.

Aston Villa 2 - 1 Reading (League Cup)

This game was a pretty good performance with Gonzalo Higuain scoring straight away. Mikel Aranburu scored a 25 yard strike to make it 2-0. Pettigrew was strolling t his game but ex spurs player Steven Naismith scored in the 90th minute to give reading a chance.

Aston Villa 2 - 0 Red Star (Euro Cup)

Another good victory for Villa with Steven Fletcher opening early on and Villa strolled the game without ever going out of 2nd gear. Ashley Young then scored a stunning strike made it 2-0 and ended the game.

Aston villa 0 - 0 Sunderland

This game sucked and was a 0-0 draw that had next to no shots.

Slavia Prague 1 - 1 Aston villa (Euro cup)

this was another poor performance with Sychev scoring the opening goal to make it 1-0 and pettigrew's side kept tight and held Slavia off for 40 minutes but in the 45th minute Caloun making it 1-1.

The Bolton Boogie - Hepburn makes solid start as manager!!!!!

After the whirlwind start to his tenure as manager of Bolton, it was onto the training ground and getting in amongst the action again and getting Bolton safely back to the Premiership at the first time of asking. Hepburn had a great start as they were sitting fifth and he was hoping to push up the table and into the automatic promotion spots. Bolton were already out of both cups so Hepburn was fully concentarted on his task for the remainder of the season with no distractions. Here is how his first month in charge of Bolton went..........................

Championship

Bolton v Sheffield Utd - (H) Sat 12th January 2008

A huge home debut for Hepburn as Sheffield Utd came calling at the Reebok. Hepburn was looking forward to a new chapter in his managerial career. His team got off to the best possible start as they went 2-0 and were seemingly coasting to victory. Kevin Nolan grabbed number one and Diouf was on hand to score number two. In the second half they took their foot off the pedal and let Utd back into the game and they grabbed two goals to spoil Hepburn's opening game in charge of Bolton. Hepburn was pleased despite the result and hoped for more from his team.

Final Score - Bolton 2 v 2 Sheffield Utd

Goals - Bolton - Nolan (18), Diouf (32)

Goals - Sheffield Utd - Kazim-Richards (69), Jagielka (83)

Sent Off - Danny Webber (Sheffield Utd)

Att - 28464

MOTM - Kevin Nolan (Bolton)

Championship

Derby v Bolton - (A) Sat 19th January 2008

Next up for Hepburn was a trip to Pride Park to face Derby and Hepburn was looking for all three points to get him up and running. His team went about their business with a lot of purpose and should have been two or three up by half time. Unfortunately they could not find the target. It was more of the same in the second half and then Nicolas Anelka stepped up to blast Bolton ahead just after half time. They should have added to their lead but Derby held out but it was Bolton who took all three points home with them. Hepburn was impressed at the performance and was very happy with what he aw from his team.

Final Score - Derby 0 v 1 Bolton

Goals - Bolton - Anelka (48)

Att - 22457

MOTM - Nicky Hunt (Bolton)

Championship

Bolton v Millwall - (H) Tuesday 22nd January 2008

What an absolutely superlative performance here from Bolton. Everything just clicked and with the talent Bolton have, demolished poor Millwall. Everything Bolton hit was going in the net and Hepburn was just as astonished at how well his team had played. It was a rout and Hepburn was delighted. Anelka grabbed a hat trick and Vaz Te helped himself to a double. Pedersen and Giannakopoulos added more to the scoresheet to complete the scoring. Superb win and helped boost the goal difference at the same time.

Final Score - Bolton 7 v 0 Millwall

Goals - Bolton - Vaz Te (3,34), Anelka (6,20,pen,66), Pedersen (71), Giannakopoulos (84)

Att - 24123

MOTM - Nicolas Anelka (Bolton)

FA Cup 4th Round

Bolton v Wigan - (H) Sat 26th January 2008

Hepburn's Bolton went into this game full of confidence as they welcomed PRemiership Wigan under new manager Gaz Jenkinson, an old friend of Hepburn's. Unfortunately Jenkinson could not make the match due to illness but his assistant did well in his absence. Bolton started the game where they left off against Millwall as they dominated the opening stages and found themselves 2-0 up inside twenty minutes and looking good for the next round. In the second half again they took their foot off the gas and it cost them as Wigan pulled themselves back into the tie with a double in three minutes from Pole Cywka. Hepburn was furious at his team's defence and he knew it might have cost them their place in round five. In the end they had to settle for a replay and Hepburn knew how tough it was going to be at the JJB in a couple of weeks time.

Final Score - Bolton 2 v 2 Wigan

Goals - Bolton - Anelka (4), Nolan (18)

Goals - Wigan - Cywka (53,56)

Att - 28469

MOTM - Tomasz Cywka (Wigan)

Championship

Bolton v Burnley - (H) Wed 30th January 2008

Bolton ended the month with a hard fought victory at home to Burnley. Bolton looked tired and Burnley took full advantage of this. Noel-Williams had them ahead midway through the first half but Bolton showed real character byt fighting back and equalising ten minutes later and then Anelka continued his fine scoring run by grabbing the winner in the second half. It could have been more than 2-1 but Hepburn was happy with the three points and another win.

Final Score - Bolton 2 v 1 Burnley

Goals - Bolton - Teymourian (35), Anelka (61)

Goals - Burnley - Noel-Williams (26)

Att - 24820

MOTM - Danny Coyne (Burnley)

So a great start to life as Bolton manager and Hepburn is hoping for the same as they push for promotion back to the Premiership.

The Miserable manc Update

Just for info:

Premiership

Manchester United 3 - 0 Manchester City

A tricky derby game against the mighty reds and a warm up to the league cup quarter final. But City had no chance to win this one with their own players scoring for United too. 2 o.g.s and a Saha goal were enough for United today.

Man U scorers: Ortiz (o.g. 14), Saha (24), Mills (o.g. 61)

Attendance: 76187

MotM: Neville (Man U)

Premiership

Blackburn 0 - 1 Manchester City

A chance to improve our fortunes now with an away trip to another struggler and Lebohang Mokoena's first half goal was enough to give Man City a win.

Man City scorers: Mokoena (17)

Attendance: 30247

MotM: Onuoha (Man City)

League Cup Quarter Final

Manchester City 0 - 1 Manchester United

Another chance for United to humiliate us and Smith grabs an early goal. But that was all the game had to offer and United progress to the semis.

Man Utd scorers: Smith (7)

Attendance: 47969

MotM: Richards (Man City)

Premiership

Manchester City 0 - 1 Wigan

New boy Gaz brought his Wigan team to Manc land (well technically his ass man did). And it proved to be the final nail in manager Johnston's coffin. A pretty poor game and a 1-0 defeat.

Wigan scorers: Cotterill (35)

Attendance: 47988

MotM: Scharner (Wigan)

And that was it for Johnston. A shock announcement from the board after the game and Johnston is given the boot. After a fairly good first season the second season was just not coming together for Johnston and the board and fans obviously had enough.
