10/10/2011 Metalurg Zp 1-0 Stal Alchevsk

My first match was against Corby Town in the English FA Trophy 1st Rnd. culminating in a 2-1 home win for Kettering. Things did not go so well in the league however as we lost all three of our remaining fixtures in December along with the first fixture of the new year. Results as follows:-

10/12/2011 Kettering 2-1 Corby

21/12/2011 Grimsby 2-1 Kettering

28/12/2011 Kettering 0-1 Cambrige

31/12/2011 Kettering 1-4 Wrexham

1/1/2012 Kidderminster 1-0 Kettering

So, here are my remainig Kettering fixtures... We survived relegation on the last day as 3 of the 4 teams below us lost and Barrow had a horrible GD.http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/405/4ae1.png/

And here's our small and rather dismal FAT run..http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/716/igfg.png/

My contract would have run out but I decided to renew it and improve the team. So, I get a 1 year extension that the chairman is delighted with.

Edit: I missed out the last three fixtures which I would write here..

Darlington 2-2 Kettering (two Darlo own-goals after we were 2-0 down)

Kettering 2-1 Forest Green

Braintree 2-1 Kettering (almost had us down).

Season Expectations:-

We did quite poorly last season so my target is a bit more mid-table comfort and probably an even higher finish. So, considering the squad, I had to strengthen a bit.http://http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/202/p5tn.png/

Here's how our pre-season went..http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/15/qcsc.png/

The loss to parent club Brighton was expected but what disappointed me were the defeat to Salisbury and the draw with Farnborough.

Not the prettiest of starts to the season though as you shall find. I promoted youngsters John Lock and Sam Read having signed them from the youth candidates team and the two strikers provided us some goals. Here's how the season started...http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/15/j1dr.png/

Don't think we were 5th for that is a screenshot from 2013-14.

5 wins and a draw meant we were in the relegation zone.

Here are the remaining fixtures:-

Not the season I had in mind but I think I'll give it one more go. Here's our run in the other cups:-

FA Cup:- http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/407/h5mr.png/

We got Tranmere in the first round and battled hard, losing 4-3 on penalties

FA Trophy:- http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/11/e38s.png/

Not the FAT campaign I had in mind.

End of season review

Fans' Player of the year: Sone Aluko

Top scorer: Sam Read-12

Goals coming both for and against with the latter being more and this I'm sure cost us a play-off spot. A bright spot was the emergence of two strikers from the academy- 17yr old Sam Read and 16yr old John Lock. Sam Read has potential Championship quality with Lock having potential League one quality. The duo would be key to our fortunes next season.

Here's our league table:

As mentioned previously, this shall be my last season at Kettering, no matter what.

Well, here's my last season at Kettering...

Season Expectations

A play-off push. Nothing less is good enough. I thought the current squad was strong so there was not much activity in transfers in. Pre-season was alright for me, especially the big win over Bognor Regis.

Now to the first lot of fixtures. We had a great start but then the team quite stupidly imploded. Team meetings did raise morale but not enough to win games on consecutively on the trot.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/845/1ghn.png/

Then came the second half...The team went on a run of FIFTEEN GAMES WITHOUT A WIN. I resigned with the last two of the 15 game streak still to play. It was by all means the worst possible way to end the season.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/706/2nvf.png/

Here's our cup performance:

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/208/fqei.png/

Yet another season of cup disappointment. My time as Kettering manager ended with 44 out of 46 played with Lee Trundle succeeding me. Here's the final league table from that season:

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/534/5y6k.png/

Meanwhile, I reached two milestones during that season...

York lying in 20th place (Media prediction:1st) when I took over. The youth facilities have just been sold and we are running on rented facilities. So, this is how our season went...

First game was against Mansfield and it was a solid, if unspectacular start...

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/42/ivco.png/

Here's our cup performance... The board wanted FA Cup first round and FAT Final. The first I managed but the second you can see for yourself. Heavy defeats in both cups is truly disappointing.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/690/inf9.png/

The first lot of BSP fixtures

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/51/z5rl.png/

The second lot..

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/600/ipac.png/

And the remaining ones...

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/692/d95m.png/

So, an optimistic start that rather tailed away and there were a far too many draws and losses. Here's the final league table:-

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/401/hf7h.png/

To make it worse, former club Kettering finished high up in 7th and Lee Trundle, my successor at Kettering, got named the BSP Manager of the Year. Looks like they were simply trying to make me regret leaving them.

One bright spot in a season of financial struggle:-

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/6/k5gh.png/

Here are the transfers that I made last season.http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/19/cx84.png/

Finance

Youth facilities might have been closed down but the board just seems to be swallowing the money. We have had quite a turnover for the last season.

Now that does make the closing down of youth facilities look quite idiotic.

Neither do they want to provide any money out of that 1.3M profit.

Edit: Now, I see that the bank balance is nearly 400K in the red but this was before the profit was announced. I cannot understand what is really going on here.

Meanwhile, club icon David McGurk chose to retire this season.

2015-16 Transfers and Team Report.

Team report before transfers, at the end of the season.

Now, for the transfers. All the business was done before the start of August.

Tom Skosgrud - Young left back brought in on free from East Stirlingshire. Has 4* PA.

Rafal Kozlowski - 18yr old Polish left winger, on loan from Charlton.

Paul Pearce - 19yr old DM/CM sent on loan by parent club Millwall.

Josh Falkingham - English DM/CM on non-contract as backup. 2*CA/PA.

Kim Skosgrud - Tom's twin brother is a DC. Has 4*CA and 5*PA.

John Lock - I managed him at Kettering, and when I saw he was not needed by the club, I duly signed him. Has 3*CA and 5*PA. Improves our front-line.

Jason Dixon - Young centre-back for back-up.

Jamie Campbell - Brought in as Matt Blair's back-up. 2.5*CA.

James Shea - Brought in as back-up to Elliot Parish. 2.5*CA and 4*PA but don't think he'll fulfill his potential.

Hallur Hansson - 23 yr old Back-up central midfielder. 2*CA and 3.5*PA.

Elliott Hewitt - Young right-back with 4* PA. Useful back-up for Lanre Oyebanjo.

Elliott Parish - 25yr old keeper came in as first choice but was replaced after a poor run of form.

Danny Richardson - Can play on both right and left. An able back-up with 3.5* PA.

Daniel Redmond - Can play anywhere on the left. At DL, he has 2.5*CA and 3.5*PA but considering he is 24, might not fulfill his potential.

Callum O'Connor - 24yr old RB/CB with 2*CA and 3*PA. Another one who might not fulfill his potential.

Zakaria Rachdi - 25yr old Frenchman with 2.5* CA now. Will be used in rotation.

Martin Riley - 29yr old with 2.5*CA. Has Football League experience.

One final transfer happened in the month of November. Elliott Parish was on a bit of poor form and was replaced by this Lithuanian international.

The team report in November.
