After mac-patch my game crashed right after startup HELP please

Can anyone help me. The game worked fine pre mac patch, når it shuts down. Help is needed badly

Try repairing your disk permissions. Look for Disk Utility in Spotlight. Highlight your hard drive partition that OSX resides on and click repair disk permissions

or open terminal and type:

sudo -s

enter your password and press return

then type:

diskutil repairpermissions /

Wait til completed then reboot and retry opening FM

Still doesn't work - any other suggestions. This is pretty annoying after waiting 5 days for the patch. And now it seems to crash the game.

Yes I'am but according to the manual - it should run on tiger

Well its looking more likely that its a specific Tiger issue. I on Leopard and it works fine you see, and others in the 'Waiting for the patch' thread are reporting the same info

Tried deleting/moving the si folder in preferences in finder? This fixed a pre-patch issue for me.

they can fix it for us, there is nothing in the manual that says you need leopard to run this game

I'd just like to point out that the Mac patch was always being worked on. It wasn't a case where there were 30 pages of complaints and that spurred the development team into action. It was always coming, it just took some time.

As someone has mentioned on the 'Waiting for Patch' thread. It states clearly on the Box for FM that it requires Minimum Spec: OSX 10.5.5. This is the version number of Leopard. No where it says it will work on Tiger. So it does look like SI has covered their own ar$e..

Ignore all the moaners, 99% of people very much appreciate your work, with a game this big there are bound to be bugs... Could you just answer one thing, people are reporting that on high power macs with top graphics cards people are still having the following issue:

Cannot change the 3-D resolution to medium or high. It's still auto/low on my mac.

Is this to be fixed by a future patch or is this a system issue?

They really should have made the game unable to install on anything older than 10.5.5. Lazy programming tbh.

I do find it shocking that on the box it says 10.5.5 and in the manual it says 10.4.11. Thats really lackadaisical on SI's part to say the least

Though maybe they messed up with the fonts again and 10.4.11 means 10.5.5

Try clearing the caches with Cocktail. You can probably get Leopard on eBay for 50 quid though, probably worth it.

As far as I can tell, i haven't said anything that could possibly p*** anyone from SI off. I agree that that would be unwise

tried moving the folder to documents, loaded up for about 10 seconds longer but still crashed. the fact it loaded longer made me thing its something to do with where the folder is located

You can try to get Leopard for free, by going down to the humac store ( http://www.humac.dk/ ) and kindly ask for an update DVD of Leopard. As far as I remember, it work for one of my buddies. Can´t remember though whether he bought something when getting the update for free... Your Mac should run Leopard without any problems. Maybe that helps. Would of course be best, if you bought your Mac at humac. ;-)

After you installed the patch did you remove the Demo? If you did I suggest reinstalling the demo. I had the same problem and this solved it for me...
