FootyManPro_GTFC
At home I'm looking to play a more direct, quicker approach, what pitch size should I choose? Small pitch or bigger one?
stevie_G_32201
Longer = direct and quick play.
FootyManPro_GTFC
Longer = direct and quick play. But shorter pitches mean the midfield has less space and considering I'm going to bypass my midfielders it maybe isn't such a bad thing for me but for the opposition it could weaken the threat from midfield? pigfacemonkeyman
Be sure to check any Pitch size regulations for the competitions you will be involved in.
Lazaru5
http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/115392-I-think-I-m-on-to-something-read-if-you-are-new-or-are-struggling-with-tactics Large or long pitch = Direct passing. Short or Narrow pitch = Short passing. In between the above = mixed to start with (and I’ll tell you how to read the game in a minute). Tempo: start with it at the same click as your passing style then adjust according to feedback. Misplacing short passes: Play longer Misplacing long passes: Play shorter Misplacing easy passes: Slow tempo.
tony1977
ive always thought FM has this wrong. with the above guidelines, short/narrow pitches suit teams who play a short intricite passing game. teams like man utd, arsenal or barca certainly dont have short/narrow patches in real life. Guest
Arsenal had one of the smallest pitchs in the league before they moved stadium. Personally I dont think it makes a difference irl or the game.

Yes, in my opinion and in my experience (albeit as a Sunday League manager! ) the larger the pitch the quicker the tempo you can play and the more short passing connect. The shorter/narrower the pitch the more problematic space becomes when playing intricate football. That's not a hard and fast rule however...the best teams (see Barca recently) find space regardless of the pitch or the number of players in midfield, due to movement.
