I think he's trying to say that the player in question has played from the start in 4 appearences but has only played the minutes he posted.

This player gets substituted early in the match an awful lot.

He has started 4 matches. But only played 67 minutes.

Quite rare to see, but it does happen. It's also possible that it's for tactical reasons.

I've seen a couple of my opponents make early player changes in matches, when they're changing from one system to another, so sacrificing one player for another more suited to that system.

On the occasions I've seen early changes, it's usually when my team has been dishing out a pasting to an opponent, so they have to change something to try getting back into the game.

Quite realistic of how some managers might respond I would say. I quite like to see AI teams doing something to counter my tactics and my team, rather than make robotic changes late in a game simply to bring on fresh legs.
