Coefficients- will they rise?

Recommended Posts

If say the Austrian league does well in Europe, will their coefficients rise, or are those capped? Is it possible for a league to improve to the point where the champion goes into the group stages, as opposed to the qualifying rounds?

You can check it out on the Uefa Champions League page under coefficiency.

They should really change that for 2011, league reputation would surely improve even if just by a little bit if a team(s) from Austria (as in the example) had a sustained period of success in Europe.

Yes, coefficients change as irl and thus any league could in theory rise or fall down the ranks.

What will not change however is the league repuation as a whole. This means you might have trouble signing great players even if your club is very successful in Europe.

it is clear that usually players choose leagues with bigger reputation, but how important is team's reputation? yesterday a player joined nott forest (rep 6500) instead of my benfica (rep 7800), of course, PL's rep is higher, but surely a regular CL 1/4finalist should be more tempting to join!?

A team's reputation is important as well. A player would probably choose your Benfica instead of a team further down the Premier League than Nottingham Forest are.
