I Mean Other than the fact that the smart arses out there will say because they scored 2 and i scored 0 but seriously i did everything right but apparently its illegal to score against chelsea

Actually, the smart asses out there will say "Because your tactics suck."

The real answer, of course, is "**** happens". As in real football, sometimes no matter how well you play you lose... I'm certain there have been games where you played very poorly and still managed to win. It happens to everybody, and even the AI has days like that.

This was a notorious problem before 8.0.2, but if you have 8.0.2, you need to seriously consider your strikers' big-game ability.

You didn't take your chances, simple as that.

this is why i play championship manager now, becasue this happens for frequently the game goes through stages i went through a 6 games run of conceding in the last 5 mins to draw all them games then i went through a stage of losing games when the team would only have 1 shot the hole game it is to make the game for fun but its just so frustrating so championship manager is the way forward

the fact that you dominated chelsea at stamford bridge is in itself a very impressive fact - especially with a team like man city. if you keep playing like that you'll win more than you lose even if you are unlucky on occasions

SI have stated that games like this tend to be slightly misleading in that the chances on target are not as high-quality as they sometimes appear to be on the 2D graphics.

A shot straight at the keeper is still a shot on target. Even if the keeper has to move it doesn't always mean it's a quality chance.

so all my shots were at the keeper? well i can tell you about 3 were the others were all in the corners. and i hit the post twice which is an off target shot

How can you tell they were in the corners on a 2D graphic anyway? Just because the keeper has to move doesn't mean it was a difficult shot to to save.

The issue is marrying the match engine to the 2D graphical representation. If you lose matches like this it's tactical or player quality. Perhaps a change of tempo is in order.

Oh so what you actually telling me is if the ball looks like it goes in the corner of the goal it actually doesn't? yeh ok thats erm great, if this is the case the they need to bloody sort it out cos thats rediculous. "High Quality" so you say but a shot thats hit hard and into the corner from outside the box and with elano and fernandez is poor quality they appear quality because they are quality shots

Im not saying i've never beaten them before because in past games i've with city in 6 years i won every game i played, i beat them 8-0 away before in the league cup final that game frustrated me

Im not saying i've never beaten chelsea before because on another save i didnt lose in 6 years.

I beat them 8-0 in a league cup final,(forget the away bit as i just relised there's no away team)

Its not my tactics as i've played them with those tactics and beaten them im top of the league and had't lost a game yet and i was 15 games in.

So my tactics it was not

Why can't it be your tactic? If you have played Chelsea before and beaten them heavily then why is it unrealistic that they should decide to alter the way they play against your team the next time you meet? If you were the Chelsea manager and your team got nailed by Man City would you just fieled the same eleven playing the same tactics the next time round and hope for the best? I don't think so.

At the end of the day Chelsea probably adapted and as people have already said these results are usually down to a bit of bad luck and the chances being less clear cut than they seem. At the end of the day if you are top of the league then chalk it down to experience and just get on with the game.

This has always been a problem since the game switched to the 2D match engine. Everyone knows that it happens, but there's nothing any of us can do about it. SI have the same problem - if human users come up with tactics that exploit the match engine so much that there'll be cricket scores in games, then they have to have a failsafe built in to prevent that. The failsafe being that easy chances are repeatedly missed by world class strikers, just to keep the scores more realistic.
