Saxonaitor
I know this has been answered before but after a lenghty search I could not find it. My question is that how do you get rid of the annoying little box in the bottom right corner of FM to use your activation key or somthing? It's really starting to bug me and I wanted to know. Any links welcome and once my question has been answered mods can deal with this thread accordingly.
Arijit
Why do you start Steam for playing FM? It is possible to play FM without Steam. Assuming you have installed Steam in drive C: (C:\program files\steam), you can find go to football manager 2009 folder inside your steamapps folder (you have to dig down several sub folders). Right click on fm.exe and select 'Desktop Shortcut'. Now you've FM shortcut placed on desktop. Use it to start FM without ever touching Steam. Saxonaitor
I do have a FM09 desktop shortcut but it still uses steam... Is that what you mean?
Matt ex SEGA
Nope, if you have a look for the actual installed directory of the game you can find the fm.exe file in it and create a desktop shortcut to that - and it will start the game without starting Steam. Saxonaitor
Thanks for that, but one question, will this mean that I need the CD to work every time I play?
Matt ex SEGA
Good question and I don't know the answer to it. Give it a try and find out...
Arijit
No you don't. I had the Steam version (now I have reinstalled using digital installer) and I used to run FM the way described above. Never needed the CD.

Saxonaitor
any way of just removing this annotying message? I know it can be done but I don't know how
Jorge Campos
Just find the EXE file and pin it to your start menu. I did that right after installing, and I've never seen a message about a CD key or anything of the sort. You're basically running FM on its own just like you would if you had bought the boxed version.
