Does a hat-trick mean "at least three goals by the same player in a match" or "exactly three goals by the same player in a match"? I'd go with the former, in which case there's no issue here. A hat trick should be exactly 3 goals as thats what a hatrick is if someone scores 4 he scores 4 not a hat trick.
