Started with a typical 4123 formation and began to experiment with 4231 in the second season, mainly because I found that with 4123 there was too much space between the midfielders and the attackers. Results with 4231 have been stunning so far including winning the Europe League in the second season (beating Milan 9-1 on aggregate and Tottenham in the final), 8-0 and 1-7 victories against Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League and wins against Valencia and Manchester United, proceeding as first in the Champions League group. Leading the Eredivisie with 16 played, 15 wins, 52 scored and 7 conceded in the third season. Tactic and team instructions I decided to play with two DM's instead of two CM's because there was too much space between the midfield and defence and now they contribute in attack as well as defence. I start with the team instructions as seen above. Depending on the match, I sometimes add 'work ball into box' and against a bigger side like Manchester United I start with a standard mentality. I wasn't too sure about the role for the DMCL. Started with a Box to Box midfielder and playmaker, but was inspired by @Cleon when I found his topic about the Segundo Volante role. Thanks.https://community.sigames.com/topic/414887-the-4231-explained/ Results and player performances What is working really well: DM's are contributing in attack and are very helpfull defending when the opposition has the ball. Segundo Volante role is stunning: has the highest average rating, scores goals and creates chances. The attacking winger is doing his job very well, running past defenders and giving crosses to either the striker, attacking midfielder, segundo volante or inside forward. As you can see he has the most assists. On the right side the attacking fullback makes forward runs into the space created by the inside forward and contributes to the attack. He has a couple of assists by doing this. Tactic analysis Also works well against similar and higher rated teams, but is mostly blowing away lower rated teams.
