GloryFan2002
Bridging The Divide- an East German rejuvenation story Ever since German reunification in 1990, East German football is has been taking a dive. In the 2015/16 season there was no East German clubs in the Bundesliga following RB Leipzig's controversial promotion in 2016 there is now currently one. I the World Cup winning German side of 2015 was born in East Germany, Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos being that one. In the past, before reunification, East German teams struggled to keep up with their West German counterparts. West Germany winning 2 World Cups while the East relatively struggled. A bright light in the countries footballing history was FC Magdeburg, the team won the now disbanded, European Cup Winners Cup, bringing continental glory to the country. Since the 1990/91 season (first season with East German teams back in the competition) the Bundesliga has been contested 25 times won every time by a West German club, similar story with the DFB Pokal, well exact same story to be precise. The aim in this career is to even out the competition. Have East German teams win as many Bundesligas, DFB Pokals and Champions Leagues as the West. As well as evening out the spread of clubs and members of the national team between the 2 sides of Germany. The current spread looks like this. And you may be wondering how this task will be completed. 20 year old manager Bannan Brucke, will start off with no coaching badges and Sunday League reputation at a club from East Germany in the 3. Bundesliga. He will move around the East German clubs trying to improve their reputation, place on the pyramid, team and facilities. By doing this and using different techniques, I believe that there is hope for football in East Germany
GloryFan2002
So the team Bannan will start off with is... Rot Weiss Erfurt!!! Currently expecting an 18th spot finish it should be an interesting task to begin this challenge with. The squad looks fairly decent. Seems to have a good striker, a good midfielder and a couple of good defenders.
mjaferrie
Interesting concept!
GloryFan2002
End of August 2016 Very Good Start 4 straight victories followed by 2 losses before finishing the month with a 2-1 victory 2nd we might actually get promoted, this is looking good. GloryFan2002
Summer Transfers 2016 Only 3 loan signings of backups. Including one from our new affliates in Borussia Dortmund. Despite them being a West German team, my main focus is to get East German clubs winning before I focus on the international sides of things.
noikeee
Very interesting concept for a career, I will be following. Good start, too.

GloryFan2002
End of October 2016 Started off well and then I did the thing you should never do on a winning streak, I turned off the game and went to bed. Next day it went to disaster going winless for 5 games, I had to change some tactics and finished off the 2 month stretch with a win. Somehow despite the losing streak we are still in the promotion spots in 2nd hopefully we can keep this spot til the end of the season. Also good to see other East German clubs Chemnitzer in 3rd and Magdeburg in 4th.
noikeee
Still going strong but I'd be concerned with the sheer amount of goals conceded. Are you playing very attacking or what? Looks like tons of goals each way on every match.
GloryFan2002
@noikeee Recently switched to a more defensive tactic, pretty much the same tactic with a defensive midfielder rather than an attacking midfielder. Started to draw a bit more though, hopefully when my top attacking mid returns, I can return to the attacking one. EDIT: Just as you say that
GloryFan2002
END OF DECEMBER 2016 Not a good couple of months, only 8 points from 6 games. I tried to play more defensively and I struggled to score more goals than the opposition. This poor couple of months hopefully will not be repeated And unfortunately it had an impact on our spot on the table as we slipped put of promotion and into 5th spot. noikeee
Is that no clean sheets since August? I think you were probably better off playing attacking then. At least you were outscoring the opposition! You're still well in the fight for promotion though!
GloryFan2002
End of February 2017 Alright couple of months, really good game against Holstein Kiel. Carsten Kammlott had a hattrick and 2 assists No ground gained on the table.
GloryFan2002
Youth Intake 2017 Very good intake, although due to German squad selection rule all player profiles I'll show in this update won't be playing for 3 years. So 2 5 star potential and 2 4 and a half star which are these ones.
noikeee
That does indeed look like a very nice intake. I think Bernsdorf in particular can go a very long way.
GloryFan2002
END OF SEASON REPORT 2017 Disaster, did manage to get 2nd clean sheet of the season in the 2nd last game. Obviously didn't even get close to promotion after thoe 3 months Carsten Kammlott got player of the season. I'm going to stay at this team unless I get offered the job at Union Berlin or Dynamo Dresden and hopefully get promoted. I can see a vastly different team playing next year after this month. AKA more defence
GloryFan2002
East German Update 2017 No progress from the East German clubs as they do not catch up a single bit with the only divisional changes are Erzebirghe Aue and Magdeburg switching places. Bayern Munich won the League Hoffenheim won the cup And PSG beat Benfica to win the Champions League. Bayern got to the semis This leaves the table pretty much the same with only West Germany only adding stuff to their side. Toni Kroos remains the sole East German in the national team. noikeee
Holy crap, that run must've been frustrating to watch. Not sure what's gone wrong, the 4-3-1-2 seems to be a pretty much bulletproof formation on the last few editions of FM. Better luck next season. GloryFan2002
End of August 2017 + Transfers Undefeated in the league after 8 games. We seem to be going well. 2nd in the League, yet again in the promotion zone, lets actually stay their this year. Had some very good transfers. Mikel Merino is easily the best player in the league, he's suited to the Bundesliga!!! In these transfers we managed to cut 10k of our wages as well to help our dwindling finances. GloryFan2002
End of October 2017 No longer undefeated but the good form continues. Even managed to get a clean sheet. Top of the league, lets go. Even 8 points from the team in 4th.
GloryFan2002
Hahaha no. This is an EAST German career.
GloryFan2002
Will these West German clubs lower than me in the table stop offering me jobs, just cause there not in debt like the situation I'm currently in.
GloryFan2002
End of December 2017 A loss to promotion rivals Zwickau put a dampener on a good couple of months. Looking good, seems to be a 3 horse race for the 2 promotion spots. Lets hope we don't do a Spurs and come 4th.
GloryFan2002
Youth Intake Day 2018 Not the best youth intake. 2 best players are wingers, which don't fit my formation. Volker Ernemann is the only players with even a slight chance of ever seeing first team action. We did get our first ever 2nd nationality with a Serbian second nationality If he didn't have 20 determination he could possibly had been the worst top potential player I could've gotten. Doesn't fit formation, very injury prone, very inconsistent, lets hope we can get some $$$ from him atleast Carsten's brother maybe?
nie jem frytek
That's some interesting concept, will follow.
noikeee
Much more consistent this season, even if the defence's still suspect. I think this time you're going up for real.
GloryFan2002
End of February 2018 Update Pretty Good couple of months, only loss was friendly to Bayern. Included an 8-2 win vs MSV Duisburg. 11 points clear in 2nd, should hopefully not just completely collapse. Note, Carsten Kammlott top scorer in league.
GloryFan2002
There goes Kammlott's season, we need a backup striker to step up now or we can kiss promotion goodbye.
GloryFan2002
End of Season Update 2018 Not that good end if season. 2 wins to finish the season. But we still got promoted, only losing the title on the last day of the season. Kevin Scheidhauer was the leagues top goalscorer after Kammlott's injury. Kammlott was Player of the Season despite his injury as we get promoted. Next season we will stay up, again I'm staying here unless I get a surprise cheeky offer from RB Leipzig. GloryFan2002
East German Update 2018 Not much progress. An extra team in 2.Bundesliga after our promotion and Energie Cottbus being promoted to the 3.Bundesliga. Bayern win the league again. Dortmund win the cup in a Ruhr derby final. PSG win their 2nd Champions League in a row. Leverkusen was the only German team to make it out of the Group stage. The Golden Generation of Belgium has finally come through winning the World Cup 5-0 in the final. Divock Origi got a hattrick. Germany lost in the Quarterfinals I mean we got 1 team into the top 3 leagues, but other than that no improvement.
jambos1990
Loving this thread!! Tried something similar in fm16 with hansa Rostock big fan base but I couldn't get the debt under control and eventually came undone
GloryFan2002
We might be moving on sooner than I'd expected. Let me just say why this would be a good move. We need to limit West German teams winning trophies as much as I'd love to say that would be possible at Erfurt it really wouldn't. RB Leipzig have an incredible transfer budget rivalling that of Bayern and Dortmund. Taking this job will help me start getting East German sides winning and then I can go on to help the smaller sides such as Erfurt rise to the Bundesliga. Keep in mind I'm not favorite for this job and currently I only have a National B license so it will be a massive coup to move here.
GloryFan2002
End of September 2018+Transfers That RB Leipzig thing, didn't happen. Decent start, we're expected to be relegated and my objective is to not be in a relegation battle. But, my own personal aim is top 10 because it would save our dwindling finances. We are out of the cup after losing to Hoffenheim. 11th going well. Look at Dynamo Dresden in 2nd, hopefully they can continue and get promoted so we can have 2 East German teams in the Bundesliga. Couple of loans, added some backups and brought in hot prospect Godwin Izuchukwu (not only for his name, I promise) who looks like he will be Thomas Bernsdorfs CB partner in the fututre
GloryFan2002
END OF NOVEMBER 2018 Alright 2 wins, 2 draws, 2 losses. 10th and pretty safe from relegation. 1 extra thought to add in Kammlott is still doing amazingly, 3rd in the top goalscoring chart and he missed 3 games through injury.
noikeee
Looking pretty solid, I wouldn't say the gap over the relegation zone is comfortable, but I thnk you'll survive in the 2.Bundesliga.
