Nobby_McDonald
I'm happy with boring mid table when everybody in the game was tipping us to go straight back down. Nobby_McDonald
APRIL/MAY 2017 A strange month. The third last game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. The final two games were then shuffled back to play the rearranged game. Then the penultimate game was also postponed and the final game was pushed back again. This meant we finished the season over a week later than most of the other teams and it delayed the playoffs from starting. noikeee
Well done avoiding relegation but I'd be worried with that defensive record. Nobby_McDonald
AUGUST 2018 A new season and the same forecast, as the bookies, media and the board all expect us to be relegated. This is the third time they have all predicted this, the previous two occasions we have finished in mid table. Favourites for promotion are South Shields who have been promoted in each of the last three seasons to reach this level. In the last two seasons they amassed 114 and 123 points in 40 and 42 matches respectively. They could well murder this league. Last season we amassed a measily two points from seven matches in August and were rock bottom. This time round we fare a lot better despite losing Blake, Bridge and Clayton to injury in pre season - our vice captain, captain and top scorer for the last three seasons respectively. NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION Ilkeston 0 Newcastle Town 0 - 538 Newcastle Town 1 Tadcaster Albion 1 (Walsh) - 86 - Blake returns Stalybridge Celtic 3 Newcastle Town 5 (Blake, Walsh 2, Parker, Tolland) - 331 - Bridge returns in a crazy game where we were 3-1 down after 55 minutes and then 3-4 up after 69 minutes. Darlington 0 Newcastle Town 0 - 1,113 Newcastle Town 2 Hednesford Town 1 (Urwin 2) - 94 As expected, South Shields are top with four wins and a draw. Nobby_McDonald
SEPTEMBER 2018 A great start to the season as Clayton returns in the first match against Blyth which sees Walsh come off the bench at half time to score four goals. After that we really struggled for goals, not even averaging one a game including a single goal against a struggling tier 9 side in the FA Cup. NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION Newcastle Town 6 Blyth Spartans 3 (Parker, Urwin, Walsh 4) - 108 Buxton 2 Newcastle Town 1 (Clayton) - 193 Newcastle Town 1 Salford City 1 (Mattis) - 107 Newcastle Town 0 Scarborough Athletic 2 - 98 Frickley Athletic 0 Newcastle Town 0 - 168 We're mid table after ten games. FA CUP FIRST QUALIFYING ROUND - Newcastle Town 1 Southend Manor 0 (Clayton) - 240 SECOND QUALIFYING ROUND - Newcastle Town 1 Northwich Victoria 1 (Golding) -
Nobby_McDonald
OCTOBER 2018 A disappointing month sees us take four points from four league games and get knocked out of both of the main cups. NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION Newcastle Town v Shaw Lane Aquaforce - postponed due to waterlogged pitch Warrington Town 0 Newcastle Town 3 (Mattis, Shuaibu (og), Clayton) - 205 Stafford Rangers 2 Newcastle Town 2 (Clayton, Bridge) - 443 Spennymoor Town 2 Newcastle Town 1 (Clayton) - 693 Newcastle Town 1 Shaw Lane Aquaforce 3 (Sloane) - 100 We finished the month in 15th with 18 points from 14 games FA CUP SECOND QUALIFYING ROUND REPLAY - Northwich Victoria 3 Newcastle Town 1 (Parker) - 279 FA TROPHY FIRST QUALIFYING ROUND - Rugby Town 1 Newcastle Town 0 -
Nobby_McDonald
NOVEMBER 2018 Not the best month with some poor performances leading to an especially disappointing defeat at home to lowly Arnold. It might be time to rethink my attacking tactics, as exciting as it makes the games we're dropping too many points. NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION Hyde United 1 Newcastle Town 0 - 638 Newcastle Town 2 Curzon Ashton 0 (Clayton, Bridge) - 89 Newcastle Town v Marine - postponed due to waterlogged pitch Newcastle Town 2 Arnold Town 4 (Clayton, Parker) - 100 NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE CHALLENGE CUP FIRST ROUND Whitchurch Alport 4 Newcastle Town 0 -

Time to join the dark side and play hipster football. Alternatives to join this cult include strikerless, wingerless, or using inverted wingbacks. Nobby_McDonald
December 2018 I decide on a change of formation to 4-1-2-3 for the trip to promotion favourites South Shields and it works. For a short time before we lose our form at the end of the month, at the same time Walsh stopped his scoring run. NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION Truro City 2 Newcastle Town 1 (Walsh) - 265 South Shields 2 Newcastle Town 2 (Walsh, Clayton) - 112 Newcastle Town 1 Alfreton Town 0 (Walsh) - 138 Newcastle Town P Whitchurch Alport P - waterlogged pitch Newcastle Town 2 Ilkeston 0 (Walsh 2) - 105 Newcastle Town 1 Stalybridge Celtic 2 (Mattis) - 88 Tadcaster Albion 2 Newcastle Town 1 (Mattis) - 196 And here is how the table looks at the turn of the year. We could have been better.
Makoto Nakamura
Impressive to still have a positive (albeit only just) goal difference whilst down in 17th. Truro should fall even more with the travel costs surely racking up.
