black stars question

Recommended Posts

couldn't see anything on this but you know when you scout a player you have the gold stars for how good they will be followed by a few black for how potentially good they might be, scouting usually you more of an idea, however say you had 100% of that player knowledge but only showed say 2 stars with potentially 5, is there any point keep scouting to see if that will change as you have 100% knowledge of this player, or do you just have to risk it and buy him

hope that makes sense just something i wondered

black stars is potential of potential

and yes, you can keep scouting him (even at 100%) to see if the potential can become more defined

or you can take the punt (knowing his complete attributes and good/bad characteristics) and hope you signed a gem

Not really potential of potential, but rather it's the scout or coach's uncertainty in that particular field (current or potential ability). That is, if a scout or coach gives a player 2 gold stars and a further 2.5 black stars, what they're saying is that they're almost certain they are at least 2 stars, and think they are within the range 2-4.5 stars. Players will still have black stars even when fully scouted or playing for your club until they're into their 20s in many cases.

but also keep in mind that stars are always in reference to the comparitive quality of the squad. You might have a great potential youth prospect come into the club, the club gets promoted, you sign some higher-profile players, and suddently that "2 gold, 2 black" star prospect might only be a "1 1/2 gold, 1/2 black" star prospect.
