Harper
Is there a way to edit the salary cap to raise or lower it from year to year when you're running a franchise? Not after a game has been started. All finances are static in the game. No cap increase, no ridiculous salary inflation.
bmorrissey51
Well there should be cap movement though, if it is to be realistic.
kidhander1983
Well there should be cap movement though, if it is to be realistic. No, players demand don't increase with the time.
bmorrissey51
Again, not realistic though, right? I thought in the 07 version you could edit a file to change the cap amount.

Well, the game doesn't have inflaction, I don't see it as unrealistic.
Harper
Again, not realistic though, right? I thought in the 07 version you could edit a file to change the cap amount. Once there is an editor, you'll be able to do that here. The game has been publicly available for one month, as an early access beta. Slow your roll and be patient. Additional functionality will come, from SI or third-party developers. Additionally, to accurately simulate simulation cap fluctuation, an economic model would have to be developed. Of the things to implement in the game, that would be a higer demand of a limited resource (dedicated time from the developer). Many of us would rather the "on-ice" product improved, as well as the more tactics engine, trade models, AI squad management, scouting, training, and player progression models. Having a static cap and relatively static wage demands are acceptable, for the time being.
SI Staff Riz Remes Posted April 30, 2015 SI Staff Share Posted April 30, 2015 Even FM doesn't try to model inflation, so I don't think that will implemented any time soon. For a fully dynamic cap for example, you would need a very detailed financial model not just for all the clubs in a league but the league as a company itself. Not to mention a global economic model to correctly simulate the effects from the financials of other leagues and markets. So yes, sometimes a balance must be found between gameplay and realism, especially when a fully realistic model would require so much resources to develop that it would hinder other gameplay development. In the end, it is a computer game, not an attempt to scientifically model something 100% realistically compared to real life.
AaronV
How about just have a roll of the dice at the end of every season, the cap could go anywhere from 2 million above to 1 million below last years level. But then again the biggest issues with EHM has always been player management by the AI so having a fluctuating cap every year could actually hurt the game because the AI isn't smart enough to even handle a fixed cap. Greg4
Modeling inflation would be pretty silly, but the salary cap should change based on league reputation once those are implemented. Or better yet, base it off of team finances which would be influenced by the league reputation.
