lewisktfc
I'm planning to get a new tablet, which amongst other things would be used for FM. Can anyone recommend a cheap tablet for this? I'm not planning to spend much, up to about £150 as I'm a student so obviously skint. I was looking at the Asus MeMo pad 7, Samsung Galaxy tab 3 and the Kindle Fire HD, is FMH available on these does anyone know? Thanks
SI Staff Alari Naylor Posted November 8, 2014 SI Staff Share Posted November 8, 2014 Hi, Exactly which MeMo Pad 7 and Kindle HD are you looking at? Some are better than others. I recommend avoiding the Galaxy Tab 3 (especially the 7" version) from personal experience. One that you might not have considered is the Tesco Hudl 2 (not the nicest design or nicest to hold but probably the best power/cost ratio). If you can stretch to the Nexus 7 (2013 model) this is an excellent device but bear in mind no SD expansion slot.
SuperXstyle
I bought my wife the Nexus 7 (2013) it's superb!!! I'm a gadget geek and do LOTS of OTT research. But yep, no SD card slot... Surely just save to the Cloud or equivalent ?
lewisktfc
I was looking at the MeMo Pad HD 7 (ME173X) and just the normal Kindle Fire HD. I'm looking for one that will perform well for FMH, but I've heard that on quite a few of the cheap tablets, its not even available. I've looked at the Hudl 2, but I don't particularly like the sound of a Tesco Tablet, it sounds kind of cheap to me! Ive also looked at the Nexus 7, is that good with FMH? Thanks
SuperXstyle
I've also looked at the Nexus 7, is that good with FMH? Thanks If people can play FMH on iPhone, then a Nexus 7 is a huge step up! Larger screen for one.
SI Staff Alari Naylor Posted November 9, 2014 SI Staff Share Posted November 9, 2014 The Nexus 7 is by far the best of the mentioned devices but make sure you get the 2013 edition. The Hudl 2 may look and feel cheap, but it's the next most powerful of those mentioned.
lewisktfc
Thanks for the answers guys. Some of the other tablets I've been looking at are the Acer Iconia One and the HP Stream 7, can anyone shed some light on these? And is FMH available on a Windows 8 tablet? SI Staff Alari Naylor Posted November 9, 2014 SI Staff Share Posted November 9, 2014 Can't recommend either of those, also FMH is not available on Windows.
lewisktfc
Ok, thanks for your help mate. At the moment, Im looking at the Acer A1 - 830 which I like the look of. If it is good with FMH, then I think ill go for it, as it suits my budget nicely.
SI Staff Alari Naylor Posted November 10, 2014 SI Staff Share Posted November 10, 2014 I would recommend that, it's a decently specced device - but the screen is a strange resolution so the game could potentially look distorted on it, we haven't got one here so I can't let you know for sure. Toney
I've tried it, out of curiosity, on my Mom's Nexus 7 (2013), and it looks amazing. I recently bought an iPad Mini 2, and I can't wait to try out I've considered buying 2014 again, but with 2015 so close I figured it was a waste. bentley2011
Hi,I recommend avoiding the Galaxy Tab 3 (especially the 7" version) from personal experience. . Uh oh. Why not?
Footix
I don't know the 7" version of Tab 3, but FMH plays rather sluggish on the 10" version (personal experience).
SI Staff Alari Naylor Posted November 18, 2014 SI Staff Share Posted November 18, 2014 Uh oh. Why not? We have found these devices unreliable internally and they are pretty poorly specced for modern tablets.
MontyUK
The Tesco Hudl 2 looks ideal for FMH ... great spec, 8.3" screen and really well reviewed. £129 I think.
Peterrrrr
I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. 7inch and I have never had a problem with mine. It runs perfectly (or to my knowledge!) and is fantastic. Could not recommend it enough!!
privs
Might be a bit late now but the Tegra Note 7 has amazing hardware. Google it mate....I'd never heard of it either but got one soon as i saw how much they cost...In speed tests they're almost unbeatable.
