I don't have any tips you probably don't already know,  I just wanted to comment that after doing a Wednesday save myself I can't believe you haven't gotten rid of Windass yet 🤣

Windass is kinda decent as a spearhead in a 2 striker formation or 4-2-3-1, since he is reasonably fast, got good otb, decent workrate and finishing, I renewed his contract 😉

    Hello fellow FM addicts,

one of my best players won't perform. He has everything for almost every position in defense but I it won't work. His best matches has been as an No 8 like a BWM but those two places are reserved for more creative players. We play a 433 with two FB(S) and two W(S) center is like DM(S) AP(S) MEZ(S), tactical style is fluid counter-attack. We have 11 machines on the pitch, all hard working, determined and brave creatures.

Any ideas to get his engines running?

He is missing Team Work and hight for the DM(S), hight and jumping for a CB, Acceleration for a WB but for a FB(S) or a BMW(S) he's good enough (?) I like my midfield trio to have Team Work.

This guy is terrible, can't pass, dosen't work hard, can't jump, isn't fast, poor stamina, tbh he wouldn't get into my match day squad at Sheffield Wednesday and I'm still in the first season

Did you test/use this 3-5-2 in FM24? I'm reading a lot of content about 3-5-2 in the last few days and came across this marvelous piece:cool:

I'm doing something similar, but my setup is more based on Uncle_Sam's brazilian box midfield tactic from fm12, the reasoning behind this is that it should give me the playing style that I'm aiming for and the attacking WCB's should in theory provide better wideplay and more overloads inside the opponents box, without making sagnificant sacrifices to defensive stability. Will do a more extensive post in this thread and upload a few screenshots once I get back home from work.

As long as it's still common for people to chant 'umrite siptare' or the suchlike at matches in Belgrade without anyone in the country batting an eye, the racism will persist.

That is definitely racism, thought just saying siptare is not

Because in the Balkans, when people argue and try to insult a person of a nation they don't like, they add that person's nationality at the end of an insult. It's quite common.

I don't think they realize just how accurate this is, it's just simply how Balkan peapol argue, been on the receiving end of a couple of those jibbes from my ex gf, well deserved I might add, acted like a knobb and she called me out on it

No, it is just the most natural and easiest way of how people set up their tactics, especially tactical unexperienced players.

A style that relies on inviting pressure to then launch counter attacks or to pull off a style that effectively relies on possession and complex attacking patterns to open up space, can be quite tricky as you may need to actually understand how things work

nevertheless Gegenpress is a modern, very intense and effective style of play.

To add to this, there is a community wide trend to focus way to much on youth development

This leads to a lot of ppl icorectly assuming that an aggressive high intensity style is more effective, since it works better for the type of squad they are building

Falahk thanks also for your advice. But I don't understand why you say he's way to slow for a AMC? In my opinion, a number 10 doesn't need to be fast if his technical and mental attributes are good.

One of the main changes that started to take place between 10-15 years ago irl, was the type of player being used in the trequartista role, nowdays it's extremely rare to see a pure playmaker, now it's ether a hardworking guy who is reasonably fast (attributes to look at: pace, acceleration, stamina, workrate, teamwork, strength) or someone who would have played as a winger for an English team (attributes to look at: pace, acceleration, stamina, flair, dribbling, tecnique, of the ball)

Some playtesting on older fm's have also shown this is the way to go

What is the best role/position according to you for Botta then? In general, how a player with very good attributes but with low decision should be used?

Probably sounds odd, but I would only consider using him as a creative striker in this formation, he is way to slow for the AMC role and don't have the defensive ability to play deeper in midfield

I'm using the Cautious mentality and this is how my Board view my performance for their desired attacking play style.

Playing "attacking" or "defensive" football is about much more than just mentality .

If I remember correctly, then this playing style requirement only take into account how many shoots you fire at the opposing teams goal

For example my board was extreamly happy with my cautious Brazilian box that averaged rhoughly 35% possession, but created a lot of chances on the break

  9. I thend to create a tactic during preseason (often inspired by something I observe while watching football) and then stick to it for a full season, I might make minor tweaks if I spot something that don't work as well as I anticipated but that's about it really

During matches I never make tactical changes, I just alter how the team is playing with player selection and substitutions

I might make a new tactic to accommodate how my squad is developing between seasons or if I'm bored with how my team is playing

  10. Second tactic goes like this:

    Gk: goalkeeper/defend

    Lb: wingback/support

    Cbl: central defender/defend

    Cbr: central defender/defend

    Rb: wingback/support

    Dmc: Anchorman/defend

    Mcl: advanced playmaker/support

    Mcr: box to box midfielder/support

    Aml: inverted winger/attack

    Amr: inside forward/support

    Stc: advanced forward/attack

    Balanced mentality

    Ti's:

Much shorter passing, pass into space, play out of defence, play for setpices, take short kicks, distribute quickly, counter attack, regroup, higher defensive line, higher line of engagement, extremely urgent, prevent short goalkeeper distribution, thight marking

Can you post the screenshot of the tactic(s) in English, please?

Not my native language, but close enough for me to translate it

    First tactic goes like this:

    Gk: goalkeeper/defend

    Lb: fullback/support

    Cbl: central defender/stopper

    Cbr: central defender/defend

    Rb: fullback/support

    Ml: inverted winger/attack

    Mcl: deeplyining playmaker/defend

    Mcr: box to box/support

    Mr: wide playmaker/attack

    Stl: advanced forward/attack

    Str: advanced forward/attack

    Coutious mentality

    Ti's:

Shorter passing, pass into space, play out of defence, play for setpices, take short kicks, distribute to fullbacks, dustrbute quickly, counter attack, counter press, force opponents outside, higher line of engagement, thight marking

Will do the second tactic when I have charged my phone
