  1. I was a market researcher and still occasionally design surveys. It doesn't look like the survey is purposefully misleading, however its verbiage and option structure could be significantly improved. It seems SI is developing consumer personas to inform communication and product strategies for FM. Interesting.

    :applause:

  2. In corners, the defense very often returns the ball to the feet of the player who took the corner. It’s a senseless ping pong fest.

On throw-ins, the throwers often sends the ball directly to the opponent’s feet (as if in a gentleman’s return).

Set pieces has been broken for many editions now, but it’s getting worse in FM21.

    Can you please fix it?

  3. Thanks for sharing the article. As I had suspected, quality of staff is better than multiple hires to reduce length of injuries. Sports sci is to warn of future injuries...

I make sure my physiotherapist are 20 or close to. I try to have 2 excellent PTs and 1 excellent Sports Scientist. I may hire more staff but only if they ask for low salaries (as non-playing staff can bite a good chunk of your payroll if you are not careful...)

  4. In staff search, it would be good to have a column for "salary requirements" of the candidate. It's a waste of time to start negotiating with candidates, just to find out that they have world-class, exorbitant salary requirements. IRL, any HR recruiter asks for this info before submitting candidates to the hiring manager, so why not on FM?... Thanks.

  5. I'd like to see how the market value and salary of my players have evolved over time. Can you please consider adding a tab with a graph showing that (x=time, y=currency)? It could be under Contract tab, or creating a new one (see image below). Thanks

  6. I may occasionally spend some 10 million euro on a wonderkid, or spend some 20 to 30 million on a superstar whose market value is twice the asking price.

More commonly however, I purchase cheap high-potential youth, and develop or loan them out. I often also hire ageing superstars (32+ age but pace 10+) leaving super clubs on a free, or at a highly affordable fee (~5 million euro), as they can still be very good value for the money...

  7. I saw Steam, and it shows I "play" FM for anything between 2,000 and 3,000 hours. I put play in between quotes, for these questions:

    1. I often leave FM on (not actually running) while my laptop is on sleep mode. Is FM logging those hours that I'm not playing?...

    2. I often multitask while playing FM: I may have my TV on, or I may be listening to some podcast. How should I count these hours?... (Divide by two?...).

    3. More broadly, I rarely play other PC or console games, so 95% of time gaming hours are on FM. As I see some people "feeling bad" for so many hours to FM, it depends on whether you also play other games...

So I am running an absolute power house: 3090, 6/12 cores/threads and 32 GB RAM. But the game is running way too slow for my liking. Hell, I am only loading 4 leagues and 12k players. But running through a season is taking a long time: it takes me approximately 18 hours per season and this is with auto-continue, instant sim for most games and cheat engine for 100x the speed.

Surely I must be doing something wrong; OOTP baseball takes under 15 minutes to run through a season, and 20 after 15 seasons. I understand FM has significantly more players and more matches to emulate and more behind the scenes processing -- but is 6 hours per season unreasonable?

    Looking forward to your reply

PS - Loving the game nonetheless. Glad to be back after a three year hiatus!

Hello. My laptop is a new gamer Alienware (yet, not as powerful as yours), and it takes me about two days to go through one season (Portugal + Champions, as coach of Porto). I think it's more about your expectations... FM is a very slow game (for whatever reason), regardless of computer power.

I never renew a contract at any club regardless of how I'm doing there. Holiday through the first season and then apply for vacant jobs and off I go!

So, do you resign after 1 season, or do you apply for other jobs while still employed as a coach (but if you apply while employed, you risk being sacked) ? Just curious... Thanks.

  10. I typically offer contracts emphasizing bonuses for performance. Then it dawned on me: if I offer high goal bonus to wingers, will they become selfish and work to score rather than cross/assist/collaborate?...

(I'm now in the process of reducing goal bonuses to players who need to assist more - as I often find that my wingers are quite uncollaborative...)

Does this make sense? Any tips or advice?... Thanks in advance.

  11. The video by Daveincid above has great advice, which I also follow.

Moreover, in journeyman saves, as you get jobs in higher leagues in major nations, you can gradually remove lower leagues and countries that make no sense anymore. It seems that removing leagues will help maintain game speed for a little longer, as it progresses and otherwise gets really sluggish over time. (I learned this tip in video by LokiDoki).

  12. What's the difference between "Reserve team", "B team", "U23" (and U19, OK, that's juniors)? I'm a bit confused as each club has a structure and terminology. I also suspect that moving a player from senior to B may block him from being moved back up?...

Anyways, can you please explain if these terms actually mean different things (or B=Reserve=U23)?... Any major suggestions and tips are appreciated. Thanks.
