  1. I usually post in a new computer/laptop thread for people looking for new computers to play Football Manager, being doing it a few years now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello I'm here in the GD to ask any kind peeps here if they'd care to sponsor my journey in February to run 100km (or 100 miles) - in truth I think I'll hit slightly longer than 100 miles (160km). It's all connected through Strava (fitness app) and tracked so you know I'm doing it! You can support me here https://www.justgiving.com/page/euge100ihf Or if not possible any virtual support/sharing etc. or simply cheer me on through February. Or you can join too, interested, and fundraise too. ----- Here's more about the event: Run 100 kilometres or 100 miles and raise funds to help save lives from heart disease and stroke. Our mission is to eliminate preventable death and disability from heart disease and stroke and to support and care for those living with these life-changing conditions. Its fundraisers like you that help us support those who need it most Contact: hello@irishheart.ie Website: https://irishheart.ie/fundraising/run-100/
  2. Yeh I would agree with Kev here. The 5600H is better. The 5825U is probably a thin and light laptop designed for portability - U being the clue - as it will be designed for lower TDP meaning during high intensity use it will stay at lower speeds to maintain battery - this is known as throttling. If it's just sitting on the desk or around the house plugged in - then the H processors are much better and don't throttle. even the one linked by Kev has the U processor - I'd still go for the H processor based on the no-throttling.
  3. What's the actual error message - and please supply the exact specs for the MacBook. Can you go to your Mac and post a screenshot of the Battery settings? System Preferences, click Battery, click the Battery tab, then deselect the automatic graphics switching checkbox. In macOS Catalina 10.15 and earlier, this setting is in Energy Saver preferences.
  4. I have Samsung phone, Dell Laptop, iMac etc. Tying yourself to Samsung is difficult. You still haven't told me the budget. Where are you buying from? Once I have budget and place buying from I can be more helpful.
  5. They are expensive those Galaxy Books - and the specs are driven for portabilty and not performance. But what is your budget? I think it would run fine - but it's quite a small hard drive. There might be a better option for you.
  6. Yeh - it's fine - can't tell you about the 20/30 leagues as per opening post. But should be good.
  7. 700 wouldn't see significant gains. I already expanded the search to £750 before posting Unless someone else sees a better deal. It will serve you well.
  8. For that budget you're up against it. This would be best based on CPU https://www.box.co.uk/M3401QA-KM038W-ASUS-VivoBook-Pro-14-AMD-Ryzen-7-16GB-RA_4091585.html GPU is not as important for video editing. And you could do with upping the RAM to 32gb in the future. And you'll probably need an external drive - as the Hard Drive is only 512gb and sure to fill up fast with video edits. Ideally, you'd have a larger budget. But you'd be looking at more tha double your budget.
  9. You should be able to access the SSD by opening the computer up. What model is your computer? You can get make/mode/serial from base of the computer. Likely you'll have an additional SSD slot or else it just needs to be seated correctly. Either way, you could move it to a different slot if there's on free.
  10. See if it runs ok running in Rosetta. Find the app in your Applications folder. Select the app, and then press Command-I (or right-click/use the File menu and select Get Info.). ... In the Info window, look for a checkbox labeled, “Open using Rosetta”. ... Close the Info window. If you're already running the app, quit and relaunch.
  11. Quick one @kevhamster or @EdL More cores or faster base speed? Ready to pull trigger - just got to make this decision count
  12. I would have taken more jobs at higher reps teams. But I was determined to get promotion from lower leagues and work my way up. But looking back you could probably take higher rep jobs and get to the top quicker.
  13. One of the hardest journeyman saves I had was starting in South America, Peru. I wanted to work my way out of Peru, into Brazil, and then into Premiership. It took me 36 seasons. When I got to Brazil the football never stopped, it was tournament after tournament after tournament. Crazy. I think I ended up leaving Brazil league, where I had taken 3rd division team to top tier winners on everything. Then eventually into Portugal, Germany, Italy and finally the premier league. I was exhausted after the experience in Brazil though.
  14. Seems like it would. You'd have to try it out in the Demo or I don't know if it's too late to sign up for the BETA. There's way to tell you how many leagues etc it would run. @Brother Benhas a benchmark thread here Spreadsheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12vp32qrHivL-_auW9D0pp-F7ZvrvQlqtBgfcSOL8n5I/edit#gid=159596069 Closest one to yours is the one in 61st position. Suggests it would do ok. How many leagues/database size -.... that's up to you ... It's subjective to what you consider to be fast/slow.
  15. It's streets ahead Here's he processor in the 2019 Mac Air - 8210Y vs the processor in the recommended 5700U
  16. Great. I'll make a request for wedding rings. What are we doing here?
  17. Underwear colour could be important, I know a professionall footballer (well he's retired now) who wore the same underwear for every match, his lucky underwear. People have their things. If you don't like it - don't use it. Others will like it - and there's no need to belittle what they want to do. If they want to add a watch - then add it - it's so simple and so superflous - but who cares. I don't use the avatars in any game. Where I work people have avatars for their Teams meetings, some use their photos, some have built cartoon characters of themselves, some have not. I personally use my initials (the default). But if other people get a kick out of it - then go for it. What's the big deal?
  18. How is it any different to adding a hair style or a beard? I've a good head of hair and a glorious beard. I can represent myself with that as an avatar - so if I've dropped £800 on a glorfied smart watch - why not represent it in game. I mean, it's a watch added to an avatar in a game that only you play. If you don't want to use it then don't. You're the only one that will probably see it. I find the whole 'build an avatar of yourself' superflous anyway to the point that I don't care what accessories you can give the avatar. Other people like it though, so I respect that, I repsect that a lot.
  19. It's just a watch on an avatar. I'm not that bothered. It's added. Big deal. My judgement... who cares.
  20. No - windows would reserve max 1gb. If it's reserving more there's something wrong. https://www.softwaretesttips.com/hardware-reserved-memory-windows/#:~:text=The usual value of hardware,is faulty and requires fixes.
  21. Do you know how seriously people take this? I do - if you're on twitter at all - the amount of people who post a picture of their new smart watch, Apple Ultra, Pixel, Samsung - it's a massive market and very personal to people. If you want complete immersion you want a full representation of you within the game - and if that brings you closer to being more involved within the game - then whats the harm? For me - this feature is useless - never liked the idea of custom building an AI version represenation of myself. I've no - ZERO - interest in this feature. But others like it. And if it's important to create that perfect avatar for the game - then go for it. Who am I to judge?
  22. I'm not interested in this debate. You have your opinon - I have the facts. Fact is, people come here with a budget in mind 200, 300, 500, 900 or something along those lines. Not many people come with a budget in excess of 1.5k - and if they do I have no problem recommending a Mac to them. Any computer in that price range will run FM. The point of this thread is to help people buy the best computer for them within their budget. And most of the time that budget is not going to be enough for an expensive mid-range Mac. If you want to spout on about how great Apple are and bleat on like an iSheep then do it somewhere else. Most people here don't have the budget. If they do, I recommend the Mac or a better PC for cheaper. Have a nice day.
  23. My personal experience is misinformation? I am not spreading misinformation. I've got experience with it. My brother has the new Mac and says it can get really hot. If you don't like that then that's fine. Have a nice day.
