  1. I'm not sure whether this is a bug or intentional.

Won my 1st leg 5-0, But during a poor first half of the 2nd leg where I conceded 3 goals from 3 shots on target I pressed 'Berate' at which point all my players then had angry faces. Why?

Surely this 2nd leg should be treated as any other game. If I'm losing I should be able to berate my players for not performing as they should do without them being angry at 'Feedback'. During halftime team talks I can throw a water bottle or be Irate at them without them getting angry, but to shout at them for performing like donkeys during the game isn't natural?

So can anyone tell me if this is indeed a bug or it's intentional, If it's intentional then it's daft.

    load mc40 , then duplicate it x2 (mc40) ? right?

    or?  short
or outwinger near post (default ones of the game right? )
    thank u in advance :)

Yes, load MC40, Duplicate it to create a 2nd routine then change the setting for routine 2 to Short or Outswinger just to vary the delivery or even duplicate it a 3rd time and have all - Inswinger, Short and Outswinger

In previous versions i've had sucess with no wingers/wide midfield players.

Fm23 I played 4-3-3 with wingbacks, 3 central mids, and 3 central strikers with good results.

Fm22 it was 5-3-2 with 3 centre backs, two advanced wingbacks, 3 centre mids and 2 strikers.

Most suggested tactics for FM24 seem to include wingers, is anyone doing well without wingers in this version and what set-up are you using?

These are 3 that I've been using with good success. Can at times be a little leaky (3-6 defeat at home v Real Madrid last season was probably my worst in 4 seasons)

All based around the same instructions with similar shapes.

I am just trying to find solutions to a problem, which this chat shows we all agree exits. For the years to come, FM25, 26, 27... they will improve the game. And part of any improvement alongside to the tactic, strategy gameplay should also be the transfer market.

This is a management simulation and they try to make it as close to real life as possible.

All those addons you mentioned, they are readily used across Football. Therefore they are not going to leave the game anytime soon unless FIFA/UEFA outlaw them. You'll just have to live with the fact that there is an exploit within the game as such.

Also players asking for new contracts few months after they've signed a 4-5 years contract is annoying

    THIS!!

I signed a free player in the summer window which was when I was promoted to the premier league - By mid January he was asking me for a new contract!! Even if I thought he was worthy of a new deal he wasn't getting one that quickly! Get out of my office!! :herman:

I get that players want to be paid what they think they are worth. But at least get 2 years into a contract before approaching me to ask for a new one. I'm not signing a player in the summer to then be approached for a new contract between January and March of the same season they signed just because they've had a run of good form.

I'm more than willing to give a new contract every 2 years of a 4 year contract (If they approached after 18 months I'd tell them one would be sorted at end of the season), 18 months of a 3 year contract (again it would be done end of the season, and with the elder statesmen of the squad who are on 2 year contracts I always add in 'Optional extra year' to guarantee some stability and then would likely offer an extension with a year left.

In regards to squad approaching me supporting their fellow team mate. I'm good with that (Unions support normal workers in their fight for pay rises, So I get that fellow team mates may offer their support towards a respected and liked member of the team getting a new contract). However the resulting talks need some revision. Majority of those talks Usually end up with at least half of them upset at you for the next 'X' amount of months for refusing to give into player power. I'd like to see some more reactions to those talks other than the majority sulking for months. Which seems to happen constantly.

  6. Last edition of FM I didn't have this issue often, Clubs would show some common sense when dealing with loans, obviously there were some exceptions but this year seems to be broken. Well, not broken but not right.

So there are 3 players I targeted as potential loans to fill squad places.. 2 would have been fighting for starting place and the 3rd a squad player.

Callum Doyle (Man City) and Tyler Morton (Liverpool) both would have been fighting for starting spot as I am light in both positions. City and Liverpool would not budge on their demands of £125k playing fee, £250k non playing fee, 100% playing/non playing wages plus wanting a bonus of £850k. On both players I said I was happy paying full wages, Happy for both to be regular starters but both clubs refusing to even negotiate the "Playing/Non playing Fee" which I simply cannot afford to pay.

Both players then went to other clubs for ZERO playing fee, Morton's loan club are paying all his £15k wages, While Doyle has ZERO playing fee and zero wages. Both have gone to clubs in the Championship, rather than to a newly promoted premier league team.

Player 3 Ashley Phillips again went to a championship side for ZERO playing fee and zero wages.

Another annoyance - Went to sign a free player - Mario Hermoso was released by Atletico Madrid. No one else interested, agreed a contract and no soon as I had then Southampton who are still in the championship come in for him, he signs on for less wages and to a championship side over a Premier league team - Yes I know reputation plays a part here, but surely Southampton who weren't promoted and stuck in the Championship for a 2nd successive season should have taken a further reputation hit for failure to get promoted and therefore not even be in the running to sign him over a newly promoted team?

All of this makes very little sense. 3 players that would have got ample gametime with me moving on loan to a division below. Now before someone says "It's because you're in the same league as their respective clubs", I have a 4th shortlisted player Bouanani of Nice who is available for loan and again like the above 3 loans they just won't budge on any of the criteria they set. :idiot:

  7. Transfers are frustrating. But I like it this way.

What does bug the life out of me are LOANS.

If I put one of my players on the loan list I get offers Zero monthly playing or none playing fee, 0% playing/unpaid wages, No offers of a bonus if club achieves 'promotion' or 'avoids relegation'.

Yet when I have looked at loaning players in (my first 2-3 seasons) then despite the players I make an approach for being listed for loan their respective clubs ask for e.g £125k playing, £250k non playing, 100% wages paid plus a bonus for 'promotion/relegation' and won't budge in their negotiations, sometimes seeing that player then leave on loan to a club in a lower division than I am in for 0% wages, no fee's, no bonuses.. :rolleyes:

  8. Gk Avoid using weaker foot Use long throw to start counter

FB Get forward whenever possible Looks for pass rather than shooting

CB Stay back at all times Tries long range passes

DM Comes deep to get ball Dictates tempo

MC Tries killer balls often Arrives late in the box

AM L/R Curls ball Places shots

AM Tries killer balls often Tries one twos

CF Tries first time shots Likes to round keeper

There is no definitive answer to your question though. All managers will want different things from their players/tactics. It's best to mould them to how you would want them to play as @Jimbokav1971 said above.

  9. At one point during the season I did think we would have no chance at all. City were dominant, Haaland was in beast mode. They sat 1st for the first 17/18 games. They won their first 13 games straight till a 2-2 draw away at Nottm Forest derailed their imperious start slightly. We had them on matchday 15 away from home. We were sat ok in 2nd place, but had dropped 5 points behind after a defeat away to Nottm Forest 3-2 with a last minute winner conceded and a 2-2 draw away at West Ham had left us needing to beat City to stay in touch with them. We went with a gameplan to frustrate them for the first 20 mins and then go attack.. Plan worked perfect as we strolled past them with a 0-2 win. Leaving us just 2 points behind. They stumbled to a 1-1 draw against their City rivals Utd in December to put us level on points. From there it was anyone's title. We were relentless, a 19 match winning run saw us eventually stroll to the title with a P38 W35 D1 L2 record - Villa being the only other team to take points away from us in a 2-3 loss away again a 90 +2 min winner for Villa.  We scored 141 league goals and conceded 28

Europa league was a bit of a stroll. Easy group apart from Real Betis who gave us 2 tough games drawing both 2-2 home and away. Round of 16 Celtic were dispatched 10-2 on aggregate, AC Milan were dispatched 8-3 on aggregate and Villareal were sent packing 7-3 on aggregate to setup a final against Jose Mourinho's Roma who were but another notch en route to sealing the Europa league with a 5-0.

Carbabao cup - we beat Norwich 3-0, Leeds 2-1, Chelsea 6-1 in quarter final and Spurs got hammered 10-2 on aggregate in the semi final to leave us facing Man City who we beat 3-0

FA Cup - We got to the final beating Swindon, Vila, Leeds and then Brentford before losing to Arsenal 3-2 AET again a last min winner conceded.

Overall top scorer was Virgil Van Dijk with 31 goals - 23 in the league - In the early stages of the season he was scoring for Fun, Massively dominating at corners and freekicks even managing a Hat trick (One a pen)

Salah was next with 29 goals - 23 in league in an injury hit season.

Of all the outfield players that played this season Only Bajcetic and Bradley failed to score.

Trent was top assists as you could well have guessed. 38 in a highly impressive campaign as well as a further 8 goals. Robbo was next with 26 assists, Szobo with 21, Tsimikas with 15 and Endo with 11

That was a long tough season. Some players exceeded my expectations - Endo was superb, barely injured, 11 assists and probably one of the first names on the team sheet for his consistency. Doak is improving nicely as was Bradley till I loaned him out in January and he got Zero games on loan which I am disgusted by. I'll think wisely before sending any player out on loan again, but he needed more gametime which I was struggling to give him with Gomez being TAA backup and being superb.

Where do I improve from here.. DM is a position I will look at for the long term. Grav did brilliant in the SV role as did Trent when I mixed things up to give gametime to Bradley and Gomez.. Willing to listen to offers for Matip, Thiago, Gakpo, Jota and possibly Diaz, Macca who both want to play more.

  10. First time since FM23 of playing as my beloved Liverpool.

First transfer window turned off. No transfer budget in January. Did have the chance to bring some in when Newcastle bid £54m for Tsimikas which was flatly rejected.

Outgoing January transfers and loans in pictures below.

Season review will follow sometime this evening.

Very frustrating end to second season transfer window - was looking to shift players out but couldn’t get the sales and on top of that - had players claiming they were unhappy with game time even though they have played over 3/4’s of all fixtures. Included Alisson, Szbosolai, Nunez, MacAllister.

The whining is insane on this years game. Jones was in my office not long ago complaining of wanting more gametime. He's a squad player, playing games here and there plus sub appearances. Shut up, get on with your game and prove you deserve more gametime ahead of the likes of Szobo, Macca, Grav, Elliot, Gakpo, Jota, Salah
