Real world examples are a bit hard for me, I don't follow the game anymore, though it seems Kamara was a busted youth prospect by the time Rangers took a chance on him and re-found his potential before flipping him at the peak of his career to a Championship level team for a reasonable sum. In the OP's example, he has a world class youth prospect he paid 16million for, which in itself is arguably unrealistic for a team in Hungary.

From one perspective, the OP overpaid for a prospect, and depending on the stats the player has achieved in a mediocre division, might be worth 'only' 10 million to Juventus. Perhaps the OP just made a bad deal? It happens.

I also think the AI can be infuriating, but at the same time just because you think a player is worth a certain amount, it doesn't mean the AI must agree, just as in real life.

I've highlighted the part that I 1000% agree with. The AI is absolutely annoying to even negotiate with.

They could purchase a player, Never play him, Player gets listed at e.g 3 x what the club paid for him - Try lowballing the AI and you'll get laughed at. Yet it's ok for the AI to come in with lowball offers on unlisted players according to some people on here.

Same goes for trying to negotiate a loan. Club have listed players for loan. So you do your homework, scout and assess the player in question. Come to the conclusion he would make a good addition to the club on loan. So you attempt to broker a loan. Club that wants a player to gain experience then tell you - Important player, Max wages for both playing/not playing and then tell you some silly fee like £250k p.m playing fee, £450k non playing fee. Plus they also want a one off fee for your club either 'Gaining promotion, Avoiding relegation or reaching a set stage in a club competition'.. You try and negotiate with them but their stance WILL NEVER change. Now reverse that role for the wonderkids you would like to gain experience and you either get no offers or AI wants him on loan without paying any wages, fee's and also want to include a mandatory purchase price that is lower than his 'Value'..

So yes, In my eyes something is definitely broken. In real life you would at least be able to reach some conclusion as to whether or not you pay a fee or a bonus for avoiding relegation etc.

Just as Juventus wouldn't be lowballing an offer for a star player of a team it would at least be a reasonable one.

Try now..i check on 4k monitor and it's fine..download again the skin ;)

Don't know how but it works again!

Despite doing exactly what I did the last time which was close down FM and steam. Delete old skin. Then extracted skin again from the same download I had when you updated it. Today it actually works. No more weird home screen :D

Loving the skin! A little unsure on the team talk page, but I'll get used to it. Thanks again mate.

    v2.0
    Updated manager home panel
    Updated squad indication prematch
    Added preferred foot in tactics
Fix buttons "talk to" in the squad indication prematch
Added background to "continue" button in match
    Other small fixes

    I think it's a bug about 4k or 2k version..I modify this panel but i don't have a 4k or 2k monitor to reproduce the error.
Download the new version of the skin and let me know if the bug disappear thanks

Thanks for replying. Still no change. Thanks for trying though. Will stick to what I've been doing which is reverting to main skin after each session. Then loading into the skin from there.

  4. The one thing I find irritating with this M.E is the defending. Especially from free kicks and corners. The amount of head tennis I see happening is bonkers. You'd think that players of any level would be able to consistently head the ball out of the area. But nope, I see them head it forwards a metre or 2 for an opposing player to do exactly the same, Rinse and repeat a couple of times before either the opposition score or a defender finally puts his boot through it and kicks it into touch.
I get that not every header clears the area, after all a badly timed jump could cause that to happen on occasion. But not every single set piece.

Other than that I am having fun, my side is playing some fabulous football just wish these slapstick comedy moments would stop then it would be 100% more enjoyable.

i've put Quansah into the group with bradley as far as PA goes. definitley looks to be someone who could be a good PL defender

Quansah should be in the 140- 170 range personally speaking. What I've seen of him, The reports from his time last season at Bristol rovers he has matured into one heck of a player. Quick, Imposing and calm on the ball.
For me, He's ahead of Gomez in the fight for CB position IRL. In game I'd have him out on loan for a year for the experience, as long as he gets played that is.

This is just beyond ridicoulous, what does it mean no change log? So i am going to assume it’s just a cover up for not fixing any of the bugs of the beta.

As Ridiculous as it may seem. SI never put out a change log for the full release. It's not a cover up. They know there are issues. They will look to rectify those issues at the earliest chance they can.

In the meantime, Either play or Don't play. Entirely your decision.

    posted an Ange tactic!

I'll be giving that a go then at some point. Too busy having fun with a slightly modified version of ME24Beowulfknap4231HDSKEWMCP102CC

Mentality to Very attacking.. DM up to MC as BWM sup and Segundo Volante to MEZ sup and the SS turned into AP attack. Some of the attacking play is amazing to watch. Only thing I'm finding is that some games it's extremely sterile as in first half goes by without as much as even a shot taken, or barely 1 or 2.. But that's not just this tactic, had it with several. Which is why over the course of a 2 season test I must have used about 12 different tactics :onmehead:

3-2-5 = WM Shape: Learning From History

With both of my fullbacks tacking in to make solid 3-2 shape at the base of the formation, it should allow for more freedom for for the rest of my roles. This got me thinking why not make the midfield more more creative and more dangerous. Afterall in the old WM tactic as it was introduced by Herbert Chapman, you had two "inside forwards" in the middle. In modern football, its the #8 attacking midfielder that goes here. And this more progressive role is probably the most important element of the modern 433 formation.

But lets continue with the example of Herbert Chapman's WM. When it was first introduced by him at Arsenal in 1930s, it was a new and in some ways "eccentric" tactic which was frowned upon by contemporaries at the time. But it was crafted to take advantage of the new offside rule changes and as such had a distinct advantage against other popular tactics at the time. Or I should probably say more precisely lack of tactics. Chapman was a real football tactics "pioneer", in every sense of that word. Because his WM was probably the first real tactical innovation in history of football.

    Football_Formation_-_WM.png.1febda8c5119b01384cf9335528f211d.png

Chapman's WM went against how most teams played at the time. And they all played relatively similar. Not because there was a dominant tactic but because they viewed defending as something "beneath" a footballer. Attacking, running and dribbling was where the glory was. Hence most teams in Europe used 2-3-5 formation. Where there were 5 forwards and only two defenders (or fullbacks as they were known back then). This was the very first tactic if you will, The Pyramid formation. Except it was not really a tactic as once they were in control almost everyone attacked. The only transition being a fast counterattack.

    pa-526779.thumb.jpg.158fa4e80f615d0ba88a51f090460b6e.jpg

Herbert Chapman - well-dressed happily smiling chap on the far left.

To keep the story short, Herbert Chapman who became the manager of Arsenal in 1925. While manager of Arsenal he envisioned a new way of playing where each player followed distinct a role, much akin to how things are in modern football. He also wanted to counter the popular Pyramid tactic by moving the centrehalf (player between the two halfbacks) from midfield down to defence to act as a very first centreback. And the rest as they say is history.

This strategy of using 3 at the back was to counter the threat offered by the 5 forwards of a 2-3-5 Pyramid formation. And this move was met with much ridicule and opposition (before everyone realized how effective it was to be). Largely because the addition of an extra man in defence was viewed as a negative tactic and plainly not a very good idea. Why? Because in Pyramid formation, centrehalf was viewed as the main playmaker of the team, its tactical architect.  It was considered to be a suicidal move at the time, sacrificing the main creative cog of the team and adding an additional player in a position that was popularly considered to be worthless. But Chapman had something else in mind. By shoring up his defence and making it much more difficult for the other team's forwards to break through, he could now afford to give more playmaking duties to the other four players between the defence and attack - The two Inside Forwards and two Halfbacks. The Box Midfield was born!

In a way, Chapman's Arsenal tactic were very simple at the time but also not all that alien to what we today might view as "good" football. He basically wanted his players to defend as a unit, retreat as a unit, invite pressure and hold shape, and hit the opposition on the counter attack when defending. And this was where their midfield advantage came in. Chapman’s teams enjoyed maintaining possession of the ball, and making short simple passes, what at the time became known as "pattern weaving approach".

    Untitled.png.72f10287fb054702ca7de1ff37ff9b8c.png

The only individual instructions: "stay wider" and "get forward" on IW, "hold position" on DM and "close down more" on AF, Mez and IWB (because he is mainly operating in the midfield) to set up a partial split block.

The simple approach is something I decided to emulate as well in my own ever-evolving 433 tactic. In this latest iteration I decided to strip down some of the instructions and just allow the roles and the shape to dictate how the tactic should run. And the results have been not at all bad! At least when it comes to chance creation. So far after 2 months with the tactic, we starting to play some very entertaining, aesthetically-pleasing attacking football. Which is exactly what the Board and fans want to see at Braga in the Portuguese League. It's much too early to say how good this tactic can be but I am nevertheless happy to see that a simplistic approach can work so well in FM24.

Loving the look on this. Set up is how I've been playing anyway. So using that as a base and added your instructions onto it. I also kept one or two of my own. Especially for both CM being told to tackle harder. And kept tackle harder and mark tighter on the RB position. Will see how this goes.

  9. I have explored this route a couple of times with my current club. I signed a centre mid during January that wasn't able to gain a work permit so granted him an ESC place - Played him in as many matches as I possibly could (I'm sure it still fell below the requirement of something like 75% of matches played) however he could still have an ESC place the following season, but I lost one ESC contract (Went from 4 to 3). However when it came to applying for a new work permit after the 2nd allocation of his ESC contract he was then given a full work permit despite not having gained any international appearances.

Still don't fully understand how it all works. But happy to play around with it and take advantage of being able to sign players that would normally have been rejected.

  10. Nanasi had a £1.7m release clause. Everton were sniffing around and for that price even if I didn't want/Need him I wasn't about to allow them to get him. Easily walk into lower to mid table prem team.

Sanz is a former Barca yth prospect. Highly versatile and available for around £5.5m. For that kind of outlay he's a great addition to most teams.

  11. I also found Duarte by accident. I'd signed the young lad Franco Gonzalez who wanted me to sign someone to help him settle (Part of the terms to get him to sign) and went trawling Uruguay hoping for a bargain, Duarte will be that guy.

£2.4m upfront. Instantly jumped to £33-37m value.. Now that's what I love to see. His versatility will come in handy over the course of my first season in the premier league.

He looks great for the price, suspect he'll be one of my go to signings as well now.

Not sure how to post screenshots but Fidalgo and Doria are absolute bargains at the start of the game, under £2m each and can slot into a Prem side straight away.  Also Julien Carranza and Alexander Barboza are great pick ups on pre contracts at the start of the game.

I wanted to see if he had high PA as he seems so good, so used a non licensed scouting tool.. Sadly for me he isn't going to get any better than what he's gotten to currently. But he's been solid and reliable for my first season in the premier league, will likely revert to squad rotation in a season or 2 once I'm able to afford to.

Big games mean pressure... some players in your team wont be able to handle pressure well, hence bad performance....  shouting at them makes it worse.. try another approach maybe?

Away games are also harder for your team to play well at too...

Not sure. I've given them a good rollocking at other times throughout the season and majority responded well. Away at Southampton who went 1-0 up and got to half time without as much as a shot at goal. Despite having decent spells of possession they just weren't even attempting shots. Just crossing, keeper catches, rinse and repeat (This is even with work ball into box). Gave the hairdryer treatment, Came out for 2nd half and scored twice within 5 mins of kick off.

Given the hairdryer treatment at other times including another derby against Swansea City when it was 1-0 Swansea at HT and they all responded well and we went on to win 1-4.

So no idea if it's unable to handle pressure well. Or maybe those 2 incidences were to do with 'Team leaders' who had gotten angry so they all wanted to back them up? Not sure, never really had any issues with giving the hairdryer treatment last year so it was rather a shock.
