  1. the X tables are new to me. Any indicators of how they are to be analysed? And in terms of lower league football, any suggestions as to the tactics that could work. I have one decent midfielder and 1 striker, everything else is average and I have no money to offer any contracts. I also used to play by having 5-15 managers in one save, but without save scuming there is no way I can play like that anymore. Something I have to come to terms with but whatever.
  2. What tactics are you using and how on earth did you manage to get a smaller league side to the top? I am failing at the simplest of tasks at the moment. Mind you, I havent updated my game since 2017. Thanks
  3. Okay, i was using hyperbole with the word 'cheating'. I always had games where I would hit the post 5 times and the opposition 2-3 times yet still manages to beat me. Is there a way to save scum now, or once you are in the match, you have to wait it out? I am trying different things but the outcome of the game is always the same. Any ideas?
  4. So, after months sorting leagues, testing them, getting updates and making sure it all works, I finally began my main save, eager, as always, to drown thousands of hours into the game as I always do. As the title says, I am unashamedly a save scummer in the way that I play this game in past installments. Over the many years playing this game in this way, I have noticed that overall, there are only a few things you can tweak that will change the outcome of the game. I took lower division teams to glory (promotion really) but have always found that, no matter what, larger reputation = more wins, lower reputation = less wins. It isnt rocket science. I have seen some incredible things too (and this is why I was upset here at not being able to save scum, my first game with a lower Swedish team had my guys missing absolute sitters whereas the opposition had to simply get to my goal to score, it seems - so the mechanics and formula has not changed with the game). [Updated, played another game with the same Swedish team; they had 2 red cards and somehow, we still couldnt beat them, 94th minute they scored an equaliser despite being down to 9 men!! I mean, this doesnt happen that often in real life, and yet, Football Manager always has a way of the team that is MEANT to win the game, always winning the game]. Here is my analogy of why this game needs the ability = playing football manager is akin to playing Heroes of Might and Magic (pick any installment, they are the same). You go towards goal, and you a sprinkled with bad luck and some movement disability. They go towards goal, and the magic wand sprinkles them with the greatest of luck. They kick the ball falls somewhere to one of their players and he takes a shot and scores what would be the goal of the year - every game nearly. You go in front of goal, shoot at point blank range, and someone shoot AT the keeper!!!! I mean, for years I knew the game cheats! So, my justification for save scumming was that IF the game can cheat, so can I? So, my question (and thus rant) is, instead of save scumming (because why allow people to play the way THEY want when you want to dictate the way YOU want the game played), what other ways do you minimise the incredible way in which the computer wins games? Thanks Disgruntled long-time fan
  5. Sorry for the silly question, I am wanting to set up various awards in the Advanced Rules for tier 1-6 in the nation I am making. I know that it is easy to do it in Basic set up, but if I go into Basic, my leagues do not want to verify, and thus, makes the change pointless and more work. So, any way around it? Can regular awards be made in Advanced Rules? Any help is much appreciated.
  6. Any... I have now tried redoing my managers, and this was still the same problem. I could only choose a team from the playable leagues (I had ALL leagues and custom leagues added to the game, but if it is not playable, it was not showing up). Cheers
  7. Oh awesome thank you!! I will make the entire league in terms of how it looks and how it is structured (in an image so that you can see what is happening as an overall picture). (Will do this later tonight) You said you made 20 Asian leagues? Do you by chance have Japan and Iran? I am wanting to include those two in my main save but have been stuck on NZ now for a month!
  8. Sorry, I really should have explained more. Because the whole country is split into regional leagues (due to distance in RL), getting these correct is a pain in the butt. I will give you one path I am trying to sort out first and maybe we can begin with advice there: I will start from the bottom mving up the leagues. New Zealand NFF 1 and AFF1 are Regional Fourth Divs. They playoff for a single spot into the NRF Men's 1. A team from NRF Men's 1 should technically have 1 relegation spot down. Then we have NRF Men's 1 and Northland in one pool for Regional Third Divs and WaiBOP Champs in the other pool. Like in the previous Fourth Divs, NRF Men's 1 and Northland playoff for one spot to NRF Championship and WaiBOP Champs go directly up to WaiBOP Premiership. Then in Regional Second divisions, you have NRF Championship playing off against WaiBOP Premiership for a spot into Lotto NRFL 2. From NRFL 2 it is directly up to NRFL 1 and from NRFL 1 directly up to Northern League. I will make an image so that it is easier to follow. While this doesn't follow RL completely, it is just my attempt to not do as much work to get it looking as real as possible. So, does all this work need to be first done in the Basic rules? then adding Advance Rules for playoffs? Any hints are more than appreciated. I dont mind doing the work as long as I know what I am doing. Manyyyyyy thanks!! :-)
  9. Here is the file so far. The finals competition is played at the END of the normal leagues, but WITHIN the season itself. It is like a championship round, or like a league structure finals instead of the knockout cup in Australia. Do you have any suggestions on how to make the two league playoff for promotion game viable? Cheers New Zealand National to Tier6 v8.fmf
  10. Okay, hopefully the super long title gets people's attention. I have now been working on the same problem for about a month, on and off, and am not getting anywhere. I seem to have a game with the potential to be great but I havent even begun to play it yet. Just feeling frustrated and like this is more of a job than fun. Bah. Anyway, to the task at hand.I am wanting to recreate (mostly like RL) the NZ league system. I have done a bit of work getting the leagues set up and have created the basic leagues populated with teams (the lower you go, the more B teams in place). This is like in RL (just we call them Reserves, but whatevs, tomayto tomato). I am weary that a lot of the work needs to be set up in the Basic rules before going onto the Advanced rules. I am using another person's 2021/2022 version as a guide for everything but I am having 0 luck. 1) There are several leagues that act as subdivision of a main 'fake' division. Eg, NRF Championship and WaiBOP Premiership are both part of the NZ Regional Third Divisions (as the parent competition). Now, I am wanting to create a playoff between the winner of each of these leagues which leads to a promotion spot to the next division (NRFL Div2, NZ Regional Second Divisions parent league). I followed all the specifications and changes made by the person whose database I am using but I have an error come up. This is the error (the Fourth Divisions is completely fake and does not follow RL but I wanted to add all of the lower divisions teams): Now, I have absolutely no idea why the error is coming up or how to fix it? Where do I go? 2) *** The most important question is replicating the RL National League. Some background. In NZ there are three regional top leagues (North, Central, South). the top 3 teams from each region is promoted to a special 'finals' league (alongside the only permanent team being the Wellington Phoenix Reserves). Here the teams play each other and the top two play a playoff against each other to determine the NZ champion (overall). The same two teams qualify for the continental competition (being the OFC Champions League) (as the finals league is the best of the best in NZ so it is the highest competition). Again, I am using this person's database for the hints on how to do it, but without having luck with the above playoffs, you can possibly guess that I have not had luck here either. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. So, can I ask for the following help a) Hints b) Hints from a 2023 version which has the above work I can use to see how to mimic and do for my own. c) Can someone look at my file and see if they can make sense of where the issue. d) ANY help Thanks everyone, much appreciated!
  11. Hi all, Sorry if this has been asked before, I searched but cannot find the answers I am looking for. 1) How do I set up the Champions Playoff to mimic the Australian (and I guess ISL) style: top team wins Premiers; then top two teams enter as Semi finalists, whilst #s 3-6 (4 teams) play technically the quarter finals. The quarter finalist winners are then added to the other semi final slots, and the rest is easy. 2) How (or can you) set up the famous Asian 5+1 (or 3+1) foreigner rules in the playing 11? Thanks all
  12. Okay uploaded as "Hrvatska Divisions HNL to Deveti Rang v7" (please be aware that the original work of adding depth to the Croatian system was done by someone else brilliant, not me. I have just tried to piggy-back on their work). I have been tinkering with the awards since the message and I have made some advancements, and found some other issues. The advancement: I have been able to ADD (not duplicate) awards up to 'Treca Liga' (4th division). After that, doing everything the same seems to bring out crashing to the game. I am about to start isolating WHICH award is crashing the game by adding one award per time for the leagues.... pain in the ass, but now I am determined.
  13. Hi, So I CANNOT find a reason for this. Here are all the things I have tried: 1) Duplicated working versions (Young player and Player of the Year seem to have issues). This is even after I deleted ALL of the versions then added I new one. In the editor, the Award is called HNL Player of the Year, but as soon as I load up the game, it just uses 'Player of the Year'. This is, as if it is not recognising the changes. All other custom made awards seem to have no issues. 2) Changed the Croatian Young Player of the Year and Player of the Year to be in Croatian (Mladi Igrac Godine, Igrac Godine) just to see if this is a problem. The changes made to these, appear in game. No change to actual issue of blank award name. 3) Duplicated the awards from the England database and changed all facets to reflect Croatian leagues. No difference. 4) Added fake dates for awards so that the awards appear in the game no greyed out. No difference. 5) Tried adding awards to other, new Nations, like Mongolia. No issues here at all. I am using a custom database created by someone else (they have spent a tonnnnnne of time on it). I have tried testing other leagues I have added myself, and no issue as of yet. Tested alongside the custom database. Thanks
  14. Ok, I am out of ideas. What I have tried so far: 1) Duplicated working versions (Young player and Player of the Year seem to have issues). Now it is worse, with all the changes made: I am out of ideas. Could this simply be a bug, or is it me not doing something?
  15. Tried doing this, but, as I said, it just ruins another one that was working earlier... Ok, removed all the old ÍD versions of the awards, still exactly the same issue. I am a little lost now. No idea what I can do to fix this???
  16. Hi everyone, So, I have tried testing this several ways (below) and it is still coming with the same issue. 1) Initially (see picture as the problem is the same), I saw the main issue come up for Young Player of the Year. I simply duplicated an existing award and changed the details to suit each of the leagues. 2) I then tried doing the same process, stealing from the English Premier League. I did the same for Player of the Year as my custom database did not have an award for this. Now it is Player of the Year that is having an issue. It seems it is the LAST award that I add... havent tested that theory though. I am using a custom database created by someone else (they have spent a tonnnnnne of time on it). I have tried testing other leagues I have added myself, and no issue as of yet. Tested alongside the custom database. I forgot to clarify, the image below actually says Croatian First League Player of the Year, which is the default award in the game. It disappears once you simulate for a year. BUTTT, then if you save, exit, and come back, this space appears instead of the name of award. Has anyone had this issue before? Can it be fixed? Image of issue is below: Note: Kulenovic wins almost every time I do a seasonal test. Seems like more than a coincidence? Hehe Thank you for the help!
  17. Is there any way to give teams the ability to have more regens from a certain country, or second nationality, at least? So, if I was to say do Sydney United 58, as it was in the older FMs, they have a very high chance of creating Australian Croats. First nationality was Aussie, second Croat = which I think was the most accurate. I believe one way around was to switch nation to the nation you wanted regens from, but then that team almost exclusively had single nationality from that country you chose, but made it very unrealistic. Is there a way to replicate the older FM Sydney United 58 regens style? Cheers
  18. I am also looking at adding u19s and Reserves Cups to the existing and added leagues. When I try adding a competition, the only options that come are PROPER cups, which means they double up. I know this has to be wrong. Am I meant to create my own competition or do I need to add the competitions to the overall pyramid structure so that it can be seen and found? I am just unsure how to make it available or assign it specifically. Any assistance is welcome. Thanks
  19. I am wanting to create a league using the teams from around the world that form the diaspora for a country. Teams would be from Australia, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Italy, and a couple of others. Teams from these nations are all MINOR clubs that arent exactly part of the league system, but instead are part of the 'lower divisions'. I am also wanting to include Croatia as a place where clubs are pulled either from lower divisions or from a competition. How would I go about setting up this? The teams for all but Croatia would be the same yearly, but the Croatian one, I would like to be from a competition, if possible. Thanks all!
  20. Is anyone interesting in updating and setting up the Mongolian pyramid? I love playing the lower echelons of the footballing world. :-) Please and thank you :-)
  21. So, I logged this is an issue (but this could just be the way the game is, I guess) in BETA: When creating the manager, under Favourite Teams (or Secondary Favs), you can only choose a club that is in the main 'playable' leagues. As I said then, in FM17, you could choose ANY from the entire game's database. As I like putting old internationals as managers, a lot of them come from humble beginnings, and yet those clubs arent possible to choose from even though a basic search in-game finds them. As I said, minor issue, but a tad annoying. Thanks
  22. Do you by chance have any FM23 examples we can learn from? Thanks :-)
  23. Does anyone know (and has tested) if there is a NZ league pyramid out there to download? I am planning to make it eventually, but it will take me a while to get done as I am a novice at the editor. Thanks ahead!
  24. Really stupid question: How do I add Reserve and Youth cups to the game? I cannot seem to get it to work. Thanks
  25. Where were the Database changes? I might need to do the changes manually too... Thanks
