  1. Numerous reasons. Your reputation compared to the clubs available. Duration left on your contract, if you've just recently signed a new contract, you'll find clubs are unlikely to approach you - even if you apply for them. Do you align with the clubs vision, so you might have the reputation but do you align with their goals? Developing youth players etc. All factors that will be considered alongside reputation and what other managers are available. Do remember, if you're a 2 star rep and the clubs 2 star, it doesn't necessarily mean your the same reputation.
  2. Have you recently renewed a contract? I've always found if you renew a managerial contract then you'll likely get no job offers close to you doing so. Also how much are you on per week on your contract, are you too expensive for clubs to buy you out of your contract? As others have mentioned, you're winning everything, recently in Italy which is one of the top leagues, some clubs likely find you unapproachable as they don't think you'd leave.
  3. The high scoring games have finally ruined it for me - the games great and there is so many improvements from FM23 but the immersion has been completely taking away for me with the amount of games that regularly finish with 5+ goals in them. In the last 3 weeks (game time) in my league, I've seen 7-2, 8-3 & 5-4. One of these games was Rangers 8-3 Arbroath in which Arbroath are sitting bottom of the league with 3 wins to their name yet and a squad there is barely Championship level but managed to go to Ibrox, have 20 shots and score 3 goals while also conceding 8. (This game was AI vs AI btw). It happens far too often for my liking and has ruined any enjoyment I've had from my saves. I'm hoping this is something which will be patched in the near future as it's a really good game outside of this issue. P.S Far too many worldies from outside the box too while I'm at it.
  4. Teach me your magic - the AI keepers seem to have no issue but if my keeper has a 7.0 it's the game of the season for him.
  5. Goalkeepers are honestly terrible in this game and I don't know what's caused it. Every save, every keeper, no matter who it - rarely seems to have a good performance or make a save in key highlights.
  6. Didn't mean to come across as dickish as perhaps my original comment sounded however to elaborate on why I said it, based on your examples you provided in your previous post: Save 1: Ibiza: Season 1 - Expected to finish 1st, came 2nd and failed in playoffs - underachieved Ibiza: Season 2 - Expected to finish 1st, did so - matched expectations. Huesca Season 3 - Expected to finish 6th, finished 9th - underachieved Save 2: Real Zaragoza: Season 1 - Expected to finish 12, finished 3rd (promoted in playoffs) - Overachieved Real Zaragoza: Season 2 - Expected to finish 18th, currently 20th - currently underachieving My point? I simply went based on the examples you provided. As you said yourself, you've only overachieved once in the 5 seasons you've provided as examples and underachieved in 3 of them compared to your expected league position.
  7. Hate to break it to you mate, you're not very good at the game. FM is incredibly easy to overachieve in if you do the basics right.
  8. Far too many ridiculous score lines for me. 5-3 is far too frequent, I ain't necessary just talking about my team, in the league alone - I'm seeing high scoring games far too often for my liking. Saw 6-5 back to back, 5-3 and a few 5-4s. Also on key highlights it appears that the highlights are either goal, off target or the woodwork - keeper rarely seem to make saves from what I've saw after 400+ hours plus. Been tempted to move to comprehensive but just don't have the time for it. Finally, the xG stat can **** off. Sick of having xG over 5 and the opponents under 1 yet the game finishes 5-3. The game is good, don't get me wrong but the above is really taking away the immersion for me.
  9. Could just be me (as I've not amazing at the game anyways) but since the latest update has anyone found the game more difficult unless your using a 5 at the back system? Ever since the latest update, current saves and new saves seem to be more difficult to get a tune out of my sides when using the more traditional 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1 and even a 4-2-2. I know formations this season with 5 at the back had became more popular and a bit OP but just seems a bit like overkill since the latest update.
  10. Hey mate, how did you manage to open the file? On my Mac it just opens a blank page on a browser when I click on it.
  11. First competitive game after the patch in a new save and there was 7 goals despite both sides having an xG of under 2 and the AI got 4 of them with an xG of 0.9 - two of which came in the 90th and 92nd minute to complete a come back to win 4-3. So not much has changed in that front when it comes to the ME. Already counting down the days for FM24 because there is no way the ME can be as tedious as this one.
  12. From my experience in FM23 and I'm sure FM22 was the same, if you let your contract run down - then two things will happen. You'll leave the club but it will be recognised that your contract ran out rather than you resigning or the club will allow you stay in the role on a month to month contract but this may depend on how well you've done at the club for this to happen. Either way, if you don't actually click the resign button and simply let your contract run out - you shouldn't be penalised for it - your rep will remain intact. Where as if you do actively resign yourself before then, I've noticed that your rep can take a hit from doing so.
  13. Downloaded the update however it now says "Disk Write Error" and won't allow me to load up FM23 - no issues with any other games. Using a MacBook 2020 M1 with the Ventura 13.2.1 operating system. Any other Mac users having this issue? Only happened since the new patch came out - was working fine before hand and running at top performance.
  14. In a way, I'm glad it's not just me who is constantly coming up against this for my own sanity. In to my 5th season with Plymouth where I'm in the Premier League after finishing 9th first season and the amount of results I've had like this or worse over the seasons is brutal. Even in prior saves before this one I've came up against it. Finally had enough and uninstalled FM23, going back to FM22. I mentioned about potentially doing this in a prior post but didn't think I actually would as I've never did it - but I've simply had enough. This is the most unrealistic, over the top, tedious and infuriating ME in FM history for me where it actually stops you having fun, even when you're winning and having successful saves. It genuinely feels like the ME just threw drama in for the sake of being dramatic. 100% will be holding off on the pre-order for FM24 until I see enough feedback to suggest their is enough value in purchasing the game.
  15. Anyone else noticing an incredible high amount of yellow cards? 4 seasons in to a Plymouth save and at least twice a season we're being fined for not controlling our players. We're probably averaging 3-4 yellows per game, my right back had 7 yellow cards after only 12 games in to the league campaign. I am playing a gegenpress system but I don't have "get stuck in" on or fully maxed high press, so I don't understand why we're getting so many yellows. Never seemed to have this issue in previous editions. Spoke to a few friends who have noticed the same with their saves too. Wondering if it is just a coincidence or whether others are finding this? I personally find it way over the top though.
  16. I get what you’re saying, but even if we forget xG and simply look at stats, their still seems to be an awful lot of “smash and grab” results in this years edition. Also the amount of AI teams that play with 6-7 players in their own half is ridiculous and simply over the top in my opinion but that’s another thing. My point isn’t that these games shouldn’t happen, they just seem to happen far too often in this years ME. Everything just seems to be a drama, high scoring games with low xG/shots in general, high amount of yellow cards and in turn red cards, games with 2-3 disallowed goals etc. The ME this year for me just takes away the believability of the game. It’s so tedious watching the same ridiculous game happen again and again and I say this in the middle of a very successful save. For me, it really is the worst ME for many of years, if not THE worst. Hopefully the patch can bring back some of the promise the ME had originally during the beta phase.
  17. I just need to re-iterate how infuriating this ME is with the xG. As pointed out with various other posters, the amount of times I've lost or drew games when I've dominated with shots & shots on target and they score with their only shot and is below a 0.7xG is just over the top. Even when I win games, I'm winning 2-1 or in some cases 5-3, and my xG is 3+ and the ai's is under 1.00. I'm not saying this shouldn't happen, as it happens in RL - it's how often it happens on FM. It's almost every single game and this is across various successful saves with various different formations/tactics used. It's almost like the ME just needs to have drama in the games for the sake of it. Totally unenjoyable to play, even when I'm winning.
  18. So, I'm in my second season with Plymouth Argyle. First season we comfortably won League 1 and the Papa Johns Trophy. Second season in the championship, I rebuilt the squad for this level and continued with the same tactics which brought success before. We're currently floating around the play-offs, which I'm happy with, well over-achieving as our objectives are to avoid relegation however it's been a weird/strange/frustrating season. We have the BEST away record in the league with 6 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss. However our home form is the 6th worst. 2 wins, 4 draws and 3 losses. This tactic worked home and away last season, I don't expect it to work all the time, especially with a step up in quality now we're in the Championship but I'm confused why we're struggling at home while we're smashing it away from home. Has anyone got any suggestions or ideas of what could be done to improve the home form?
  19. Also, the amount of games where the AI has scored two or more goals and their xG has been below 0.7 is driving me insane - lost count the amount of games across multiple saves where teams have had 3-4 shots and got 2-3 goals. Relentless with it on this ME this year.
  20. Totally agree mate, no idea why they drastically changed it. I was messaging my mate on the night the Beta being released saying it was one the of the best I'd played. Such a drastic change only a few months later, now I wouldn't even recommend people buying FM23 if they have FM22 already.
  21. There’s been so many valid points made in the previous comments about the ME that I don’t feel the need to repeat them. However to summarise where I’m at with the game. I’m at the stage where even when I’m doing well, I’m not enjoying myself. The ME is so incredibly tedious this year that it’s even making winning unenjoyable. I’ve never went back to a previous edition before but this might be the first year I do because I just can’t continue to force myself to play with this ME.
  22. I felt the variety of goals was so much better, I was seeing goals and build up play I'd never seen before where as now almost 80% of the goals (in my favour or against) are over the top balls or 25 yard screamers. Also the amount of pointless free-kick highlights is beyond tedious, 30 yards+ and not on target is not a key highlight imo.
  23. Personally, now I've managed to have 5+ seasons in FM23, I'd say FM22 is better. Which surprises me because when I played the FM23 ME during the beta, I absolutely loved it. The passing, the different types of goals etc. Since the full release and the most recent patch/update, I personally feel the ME has taken a huge step back. So much so, I'd say it's worse than FM22 but I appreciate it's a matter of opinion. As others have said, try the demo and see what you think for yourself or hold off until January and pick it up on sale which it'll likely be on.
  24. I'm curious to hear others opinions on this. I don't think it's a bug but it does seem a little OTT. I started a Sunday League to Hall of Fame save, no coaching badges and Sunday League rep while unemployed. Managed to get my first job at Chippenham Town in the National League South who were fighting against relegation. I turn their season around and get them in the playoffs on the final day of the season but unfortunately lose in the semi-finals. The following season I finish 4th and again lose in the playoffs. During this 18 months, I manage to get up to a Continental C License. I don't renew my contract at the end of this season and decide it's the right time to move on - my rep is 1 and half star and 25%. After a few months, I managed to land my next role, with a 3 star reputation side called Eupen in the top division of Belgium. In summary, surely moving from the National League South to the Jupiler Pro League in one move is a bit unrealistic?
