  1. PF(s) W(s)-AM(a)-W(s) With narrow team width, the box shape showed(from what i remember) then direct passing with take fewer risks on them. I like to do that to replicate higher tempo in my forwards
  2. While i was trialing this tactic, i thought about how England were capable of using this setup and heres how they would look option 1: Option 2: If you were pushing it and want to fit in Walker,Trent and Reece And heres the shape it can drop into in defence
  3. The idea behind this thread is that i wanted to create a team that would fit in managers tactical ideas and some of my favourite players i have got to watch. Some players i have had to take a more broad approach towards but ill explain my thought process behind the decisions. The focus is less about making the perfect tactic but more so fitting in as many of my footballing thoughts(?) while it still making sense tactically. Structure: The general structure will be inspired by Peps 3-2-4-1. I want to use JDP and really like a 3-2 base to build up from. However I would also like to use Nagelsmanns ideas of minimum width (there may be other managers that have used minimum width but i found out through reading about Nagelsmann) (ill add a thread from twitter at the end.) It will switch between maximum and minimum width, which i will have to do manually as i have found that player swaps between two players that have Personal Instructions stops working after initial swap. Possession: I like possession based football, i really dislike it when in FM, players just hoof the ball up with no aim. However with the fact that im trying to make a team of players that are quite attacking, ill have to give up a bit of that control. In the first phase, as a lot of teams a teams are trying right now, i want to build up in a manner similar to De Zerbi. Short and delayed passes to suck in the opposition and then hit them in the artificial counter attack. In the final third, i want to make use of the minimum/maximum width that i have mentioned before. In terms of chance creations, I want to use influences from the teams of the players i am going to use. Out of Possession: I want a geggenpress similar to Klopp but i feel like that requires a more direct approach and is difficult to recreate in FM. But for the sake of adding names to the ideas behind instructions, i am going to mention them for why i am adding counterpress. For the pressing structure, I am trying to use the ultra high pressing of the earlier Liverpool Klopp teams and a team that i believe is inspired from Liverpool , Howe's Newcastle( I have not really paid full attention when watching Newcastle but when i do, they have a lot of similarities, again thats imo). This one is more of an idea that i am thinking of and have not tried applying. Also unsure whether i am going to use it now. I am going to intentionally drop off and reduce pressure so that opposition teams push up and then play rapid,,shorts 1-2's in counter attacking football. I feel like this is what Carlo Ancelotti did in that run to the UCL. He knew he had higher quality players so he used the threat of transition to maximise his players spaces. GK= SK(a) : Ederson This one should be fairly self explanatory as i want an extremely ball playing oriented GK that can play out from the back but also play long accurate passes if necessary. I was thinking of saying Jason Steele of Brighton due to his ball playing ability but that name felt out of place RCB= WCB(s) : Reece James Truthfully the back 3 are cop out answers but i really liked the way sheffield united had overlapping CB's so this was inspired by that. As a Chelsea fan, Reece is a perfect RB and imo the best in the world (when he's actually available). He is capable of playing in this position however I want him pushing up but not most of the times. CB=: L(s) or BPD(d) Thiago Silva Again, a cop out, i could have put VVD but i am a Chelsea fan so i put TS. Having said that, Thiago Silva still has it all, and i would say at present in terms of technical and defensive ability, TS is slightly better in the present moment however VVD has freakish athletic ability which makes him a scarier prospect of facing (i fully understand if you disagree but this was my opinion.) When i used this role in the past with this shape it made him push up next to the DM so this shape is optional. LCB= WCB(d) Levi Colwill I needed a player that had played under De Zerbi (and he also plays for the chels) but he also has those beautiful passes in behind the half spaces. RWB= IWB(a) / CWB(s) Trent Alexander Arnold Although i said Reece is the best RB altogether, i have to say offensively, Trent is unbelievable. The two things i think Trent is better at then Reece is his eye for a pass and ball striking (so passing and crossing) RCM=AP(a) Eden Hazard Now, this is the biggest cop out answer of the lot and i have even had to switch the side he is playing on but, He is my favourite player ever and no way was i not going to fit him in somehow. Initially i had him in the left half space but due to the shape of the team, i decided to play him here. I never really tried AP(a) in the midfield role before but i tried it recently and it was the first time i have noticed a player roam so much. The reason i used Hazard here and not in the LW slot is because of how he played. He used to do everything for us, and i felt this role perfectly encapsulates what he offered us. However, depending on what role i use Trent, the player i envision playing this role changes. If i use Trent as a CWB(s) the AP(a) tends to move into the pivot so i imagine him to be the way Enzo played against Liverpool. CM= DLP(s) Rodri I pushed him into the midfield role as i found it helps the pressing structure. But in terms of why i chose him, i just think at present, he is the ideal DM. LCM=MEZ(s) De Bruyne As a result of having to switch the two midfield roles, i have to play him down the left. I envisaged the half space demon he is, whipped crosses to the back post and just the efficiency of his passes. RW=W(s) / IF(s) Mohammed Salah Again, I dont really think i need to explain why i chose him. i LW=WT(a) Cristiano Ronaldo One of the greatest ever goalscorer's and does not require much explanation. I chose wide target-man as i wanted him to be at the back post for crosses from Trent and De Bruyne, however i switched Hazard and De Bruyne. I want him to operate as a poacher at the back post. I could have used a ramdeuter but i wanted to try the wide target man. ST= PF(s) / CF(s) / F9(s) / TF(s) ????? Of all the roles, this is the one i am struggling with the most, I have a few players in mind but am unsure who to choose. Option 1: Seeing as i have Salah and CR7, it would make sense to have a F9 like Benzema or Firmino Option 2: I have recently been using tall poachers and have really tried to mimic Haaland so thats an option but with 2 other players that would ideally get 20+goals, it could be overkill Option 3: I was thinking of perhaps using a Target forward with Drogba being the inspiration. It offers a long option in case the team is struggling with pressure. Im leaning towards this tbh Ill send more updates soon
  4. Truthfully, idk, i sometimes see 1-2s but only when there is no other option but to. But i still train it. Also i forgot to add, i also train Bring ball out of defence. Against teams with less pressure, i reduce tempo all the way and add dribble more on BPD's. I try get CB's with min 10 dribbling/passing/vision and technique to have it. It does well for me imo. I wish the game would allow for players genuinely to stop until pressed, They very rarely actually do this but the patterns look similar to irl
  5. what i do is get the AM to man-mark the opp DM and the IF's to man-mark the wide CB's. Ive always found this to work, and with the BtB being in the midfield role rather then DM, they tend to be involved in the high press. Alternatively against 4-2-3-1, i get the ST and AM to both man-mark the opp CB's while having close down more on IF's and reducing the team press by 1. Also use Opp instructions where i get the back 4 to play inwards and tight marking on all central players
  6. heres possession for league season (30 games in) and for last 3-4 games i have been trying to copy his shakhtar 4-3-3 shape
  7. my newer version, i have found it to replicate to a good level. traits needed across back 4/mid 2, are tries to play out from back, stops play, dwells on ball(CB's and if possible get it on GK,i used in-game editor only on GK to get these traits) , plays short simple passes and plays 1-2s. On the BtB i got comes deep, plays 1-2s, tries to play out from back and plays ball into feet. I switch between IF(A) and W(S) for the wingers. Ive felt the play down the middle has helped a lot in the play. Traits for wingers are, hugs line, beats opponent repeatedly, arrives late in box, wants ball to feet and likes to beat offside trap, you can also use the BtBs as SV's with same instructions
  8. 3-2-2-3(MtM,HIGH PRESS).fmf you can move one of the forwards to AM and get both AM's to man mark against DMs in a 4-2-3-1
  9. Same as ^ the winger roles were just tests, i wanted to get both overlaps from wingback sometimes but also underlaps from SV's if possible
  10. I have 2 versions (im still trialing the "vs Big Team3" i tried getting the shape where one of the mids stays between the inverted wb's while the other goes forwards. So if both mids have similar attributes you can use swap position. The winger roles can be changed to be honest, i was just trying stuff
  11. I added the traits about the GK with in-game editor but the rest i bought with the traits or mentore this tactic was a one off for a second leg ucl tie, but heres the system
  12. heres a goal i scored similar to a de zerbi type, i was using a different system but had the same traits and instructions
  13. If you have access to the in-game editor, you can give your defence and GK the traits, Tries to play way out of trouble, stops play and brings ball out of defence(yes, even on GK) . I also add play short simple passes to the defenders + plays ball with feet to GK. Then play GK as SK(a) and In Transition, play to CB and slow down play. I also do not Play Out of Defence as i found that they tend to go long under pressure more (might just be me) Alternatively, if you dont want to use that method, you can put GK on SK(d) and add instructions Direct Passing and Take fewer risks. if the opposition press is high then i use CD's and apply the same^ and increase tempo of the game. When i do this i use SK(a) or against low pressure, BPD with dribble more and shorter passing
  14. do the DOF take note of the squad planner or is it exclusively for the manager? So, if i put a player in squad planner and leave signings to the DOF, would they be signed?
  15. Has there been any updates to this, ive been trying to apply a mixture of minimum and maximum width but this problem has been effecting my attempts of having a team play with fluctuating width
  16. Add mark tighter to everyone and use opposition instructions Players with support are more likely to keep with the nearest players, while on attack they will jump to press the player on the ball
  17. Ive tried to replicate this aswell and i think ive done a good job at it. When we start having 60+% possession and/or winning. I add these instructions to keep the ball and constantly go at them. take fewer risks to each player, increase tempo(sometimes), run at defence(or just have the wide player on attack duty), the most narrow width, focus play down the middle(sometimes or down the flanks) and overlap I keep the pitch as narrow as possible so that the counter press is as effective as possible, the overlap is used cuz most of the time i do this i have IWBs and it sometimes lets them overlap. I also add step up more(+highest line of defence) to reduce space for attackers
  18. There should be an option where you can train all academy players in certain positions to learn certain traits and learn certain roles without having to manually do it.Getting multiple players to train roles is easier but sometimes it gets undone randomly. I understand that you can use mentoring to get younger players traits but thats only when their promoted to first team (This can also be fixed by allowing mentoring to players outside the first team squad.) e.g; For my wingers, i want beats opponents repeatedly and hugs touchline, and i want them to train the position Shadow Striker so that their concentration is trained. If this was possible, even the lower quality academy players can be usable from the off, similar to how La Masia and Ajax academy players can seamlessly break into the team as they have the necessary abilities and positioning/behaviour to fit in.
  19. I want to use a target man but as an AM so was wondering what kind of traits would you want for a target man
  20. Ive recently found FB(D) with sit narrower and the opposite side CB having stay wider has made a 3 atb but when the opposition is deep in their half (not fully sure, but the team width was narrow and i think this was a factor)
  21. I havent noticed any problems recently thankfully and would say there has been improvements. Thanks for the reply
  22. Onto player 2 and that has to be Drogba. Again, another player who i got to watch in his latter years and through highlights. If you cant tell i'm a Chelsea fan and want this type of player in my team
  23. I have been trying to use traits to get the best out of my tactics and decided that i want to replicate certain players into my tactic. I understand that i cant get a 1 to 1 replication but just want to understand what traits i can use to get a similar mould of player. Also, i know FM has the traits of players and i might even know them but i want the communities opinions on the traits these players would have The first role i want to replicate would be a goal scoring no.8, and the player that i want is Lampard. I only got to watch him in his latter years and even then i was quite young, so quite a lot of my opinion is based off watching Premier League Years and youtube videos. I want to create a player similar to him with his goal/assist output. Particularly, what attributes are needed most and more importantly, what traits would he have?
