    Ok can anyone explain this?

Free kick setup vs Free Kick ingame.

Why are none of my players marking the man stood in the middle of the area by himself? Needless to say they passed to him and he scored.

I have 3 players set to zonal and 3 to Go Back. Why are 6 of them marking 4 attackers and leaving the other guy completely alone??

    Game is not bug free.

save game, find .pkm from your computer and upload it with game time to forums. I think this kind of bugs should be quite easy to fix.

Seriously? This again?  It's like saying in a flight simulator, you shouldn't be able to choose the livery of your plane (or even the plane itself) as a pilot doesn't get to do that.

In any simulation game there is the role you role-play as taking part in the simulation and then there's control of the gameworld as the person playing the game.  Both choosing a livery for your plane in a flight sim and having control over the layout of your stadium in a football manager simulation fall into that second category.

Role-play manager and gamer - two completely different things with different scope on what they should be able to do.

In FM we already have lots of things we can do that a real manager can't do, both as part of the game loop and, especially, via the editors.

But maybe I have a different outlook to a lot of players, but I'd like the gameworld to be much more open to modification and control by the gamer.  For example, I can't see SI ever making the gameworld dynamic for future years, but I'd love to see features of the pre-game editor brought into the main game so that I could set the Champion's League to revert to the current format in 2030, or schedule a change in substitution rules  or number of teams in a league for a future season.

I don't really post on here, but I've been playing Kevin Toms Football Manager, Championship Manager and then FM. So mentioned for context as I've been around a bit. What I am always amazed at is how many people don't realize or have forgotten that this is actually a GAME, and not real life. And so many just don't seem to enjoy it, but consume themselved by analyzing and scrutinizing the hell out of it. Real football is full of bizarre stuff happening in it every weekend. So play the game, it's quite an amazing product and get fired up about serious matters.

Thank you! Good choice of words. I couldn't said it better. It seems for some this feedback thread gets turned in to a room where you can pickup a sledgehammer and mash some TV's :D.

    Just to clear things up:

    1.  There were no Match Engine changes in the most recent update. It's not even possible for us to update the ME without changing the ME version number (which you can see via the game status screen). If we did, all your past matches would diverge which would be a major issue!
    2. Having said that, what rp1966 said above is true, factors outside of the match can feed into the match in different ways. However, since the only change in the last update was to player development, I think it's very unlikely there's any difference. It's more likely that your team lost 1/2 games and lost confidence, and then you've struggled to turn it around for whatever reason.

Oh come on! I was already celebrating you have ruined someone's tactic! Bring on the challenge. ;)

The highlight for me was a game against Crystal Palace which I won 6-0. I was leading 2-0 and Casemiro was sent off in the 37 minute and I managed to score 4 more goals after that. Absolute joke.

I think especially this game would be nice to get reported with .pkm attached.

what do you mean mate? relatively new to the forum

This is directly from match engine bug forum.

    How to find a PKM?

*After your match has finished or if you return to your schedule and view the match you can save match in the top right corner of the screen. This will save your PKM file for your to share so we can further investigate the issue. You can also find .pkm files in your 'automatic' folder which is located 'Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2023\matches\automatic*

Then just add .pkm file and send here or to me. But if it's too hard just let it be. :) I'm just curious what happened inside the match.

random question but does SI get so much s*** for their features every year, or is this year the year us fans are "rebelling"?

There's lots of feelings towards FM series and like in old marriage things tend to grow bigger if you think you're not being listened. :D "He didn't fix the roof all he did was talk", "They didn't fix set pieces, again I'm not being listened". So yes there's always someone who thinks they're not listened. :D

  8. So much negative one sided atmosphere here. I know everyone got a right to demand improvement but to be honest the heart and soul of this game never has been graphics. Most important thing in my opinion is graphics are good enough to give proper information to our eyes what happens under the hood at the field and it's getting better every year.

    While browsing this thread

I’m a bit surprised by some reactions around

I mean what were you expecting guys ?

People want more incredible features, ok, but football is still football, what can we invent ?

For my taste, I don’t like to have 10000 clicks which are just for cosmetics/minor tweaks purposes

If one wants to deal by himself all the areas of his club, without any help of the staff, you already have a lot to do

Some people complaining about graphics ?

I reckon it would be nicer but come on it’s absolutely not the core of that game, and I’m sure that it will logically evolve in the upcoming years

I truly prefer to get a nice processing game speed rather than fifa graphics for example

I’m more interested in a solid ME and transfers/contracts interactions which are the main reasons why, I think, we like to play this game for decades

Then for all the cosmetics stuff this years, at least they tried to do something, the fans profile when you take over a club is a nice addition Imo, not game changer, but still, it’s interesting when you’re in charge of a team you don’t know IRL

Same for the licensing, not game changer for me, as most of us were already using dedicated files, but still, it’s something and I’m sure they’ll get more officials licenses in the upcoming years

I just wish, youth wise, it has been tweaked from last version and international management, that I personally not fancy, would have needed something more

Regen faces are still weird, but anyway, not game breaker at all for my taste

Lets see how it will be during beta before criticize everything

I agree this 100%. Also I got a feeling people didn't quite understand how big thing AI manager and deep defending feature really is. If it's as good as it sounds like it really open whole new side of the ball to the FM. No more just press high and profit, no more plug and play tactics because you need several "plug  tactics" ( :D) to use while playing more intelligent reactive AI manager. I would be disappointed if this FM would not be the hardest FM we have seen yet.

I am in the year 2038 on FM22. My game feels like it takes forever to advance a day. I have sparked new life into one of my long term saves and fancy playing it again. I think i probably didnt realise how slow this moved before but coming off the back of a couple new saves, the difference in processing speeds for advancing days is clearly evident.

Am I correct in thinking that the save file is just too big and there is no way to salvage this to speed it up? I remove some leagues and the detail level is already on 0.

Hey copy your savegame to safety before trying this. If shortlists and scoutings are important for you. So to the point, delete your shortlist and remove all your scoutings and see does it help. It might be there's too many scoutings to process when continuing forward.
