it amazes me that everyone seems ok ignoring the abscense of dribbling in the ME,  i tested multiple times with psg and inverted wingers or inside forwards trying to make them focus in all possible combinations to make them cut inside, atempt to dribble a 1v1 against a defender, get past them and shoot at goal, just atempt to dribble, am not asking maradona like plays every time, just a little try to make them even a little more agressive at dribbling to get inside the box, but what happens almost every time? they dribble away from goal, the ffact that psg with messi, mbappe and neymar cant even do dribbles or tricks against a low tier team in versus mode is a joke, but hey the move "nice" off the ball so everything must be fine right? neymar and mbappe never dribble their way inside the box IRL ... right?

I think the problem is in its complexity just like in completed passes being too high. FM needs more scenarios where you can really mess your game plan with your tactics and instructions just like you would geniously solve problems. Example. If you order your team dribble more against well defending tightly center guarding team there should be "maybe" higher chance to lose your chance to win a game. Meaning your instructions need to have more power and ofc consequences. Problem lies again in AI if there's more power in instructions then AI needs to be wiser.

Anyone else finding finishing more clinical or is it just me? I've noticed the wingers cutting in more and making attempts at goal which is great

Didn't play much yesterday but I saw one thing related to finishing. This was the velocities of shots. I saw two identical goals scored with higher velocity shot. It would be great if SI really did tweak the presentation of good shot and bad shot. It's always nice to know as a player why something happens at the 3d field. :)

Players should be removed based on moral grounds, not on legal basis.

"Not everything that is legal is moral" is the first thing you learn on Law school. Example, the Apartheid was legal, slavery was legal. Civil disobedience was illegal, interracial marriage was illegal.

So, if a club sues a player based on some contract disagreement, will SI get rid of the player?!... This needs to be revised.

That just never ever going to happen :D It would mean FM becomes the judge who is not moral enough. SI moral office would have to be built too because the case numbers would be massive. :D Which would basicly be start of an end to rights use player real names in games.

I find your point of view interesting and I respect your opinion but I don't agree.

I ask for more dribbles from players who are dribblers. It would be unrealistic for Kroos to dribble and it's unrealistic for Vinicius, Mbappé or Salah to dribble very little in FM22.

More interceptions is real football. What is not realistic is to see third division teams with a passing accuracy worthy of Guardiola's Barcelona.

Quick transitions. It is respectable that you do not like quick transitions and prefer passing football but a good ME should allow you to develop your passing football and me to develop my quick transition football. The problem with this ME is that you can develop your football and I can't develop mine when we should both be able to do it.

In the last thing you say I agree a lot, in fact when I talk about more interceptions one of the ways to achieve it is anticipation.

I also agree that it is a very difficult job to achieve a balanced ME, I simply try to explain the origin of some problems in ME 22 because I think that many of them come from a conception of this ME that is too oriented towards passing football and I would like that FM22 reflected all styles of football

Yeah I trust we're speaking same thing but from different perspectives. I just try to make sure SI don't try solve problems with old ways. :D I don't want flank dribbles back what are unstoppable (they still are partly), unnecessary clears (there's still some), perfect balls over over the top (there's still some)

I think that SI Games, with their best intentions, trying to improve the ME, has made a serious mistake and I don't know if they will be able to fix it in the next patch.

There are too many passes, you explain it very well... Also in this ME the players are very cowardly, they play scared... For that reason when an attacker has the ball and can dribble he usually prefers to make a pass, when he has the option to run inside or outside, he gets scared and usually chooses not to risk and go outside to finish with a back pass...

    Midfield battles? few

    Interceptions? few

    Pressure? little intensity

Quick transition? Few, better short pass.

    Run or pass? Pass

Dribble or pass? Pass (more dribblings, please)

The consequence of all this? Too many passes.

At first I thought that the biggest problem was the IF/IW issue, I admit my mistake, the IF/IW issue is not the problem, it is an annoying consequence of the real problem: The cowardice of the players and ME in which only passing football has a place.

    Dangers of:

    - More dribbling, game becomes individualistic rocket men competition.

    - More interceptions, game becomes middlefield battle without no pass plays.

    - Quick transitions, game becomes ball over the top again. And maybe even clear fest's.

My answer for all of these is off the ball movement. Defensive and attacking. More anticipating more moving in general always moving. If players move spaces open and game doesn't stop in certain height for too long. Interceptions happen in natural way because players cant predict everything properly. Why this is hard? Because this is one step away from complete chaos which I think is the most unsafe scenario when trying to create result sports with certain kind of realism. :D

    How is it improving?

I think I already answered this last week here. :D Shortly said I think the logic of how teams want to play football with the ball has been changed in latest FM. Also players fill spaces better without ball. Now we just need more physical presence for those players and more limited technical skills + more little mistakes what doesn't cause directly goals. I already see changed possessions without kicking ball over sidelines or cleared a lot more. That alone shows this game is on the right track. Just look FM21 in full and compare it to FM22 and yes I know you watch games in full. :)

What do you think of these match stats?

My personal opinion is these happen FM very much more often than in real life and this is because this game have been made thinking attack before defending for too long. Meaning higher tempo have been always been too quick and rewarding too many shots. Even if these shots are from bad angles these should not happen in this magnitude. This on the other hand is because there's not enough limitations to what skill set of players can play high tempo passing plays. Maybe also shots are too easy to get off and off the ball movement is step ahead of defensive anticipation. BUT I can see this is changing to better direction in FM22. Defences are starting to move better and anticipation is more fair for defending team.

  8. Great challenge "through" a player cutting inside and scoring. In this match player attributes got very big difference but still game lacks this kind of challenges and yes players should also lose ball after this kind of challenge. I'll upload .pkm too if you want or can use it to make these happen more often. Sorry for the bad quality I'm no great multimedia guy :D

    Edit. Now its better.

Apart from if/iw is better in fm21, what do you think are the positive aspects of fm22 over fm21 in terms of match engine? I'm undecided on which version to start a new career until the winter update, so I wanted to get your opinion.

FM22 has better lateral movement of players defensively, realistic movement off the ball, more realistic use of the football field meaning game is not so arcade like (patience with the ball), better level of pressing loose balls and more realistic player pressing, player animations are smoother and the game can genuinely surprise you how situations can happen in multiple ways. Personally I just could not go back to FM21 from FM22  just because it lacks the different layers of football, fm21 is just much more repetitive than FM22. Anyway its up to your eyes what kind of play pleases you more so cant really tell will you see the game same way :)

My guess is that passing streaks are at least around 20 passes on average probably even more. In fm21 I'd say they are around 10-15

I find that hard to believe, but If I give it a thought it propably feels that way because in FM21 teams are so hyper actively seeking ball up at the field that they lose it more often. Ball is constantly runned deep and lost over byline or sideline, played long and lost, dribbled and lost or the worst get intercepted and cleared. Sadly I feel we will not going to see radically different footballing experience at highest level compared to lowest level because it would need own ME for both of these. ME for professional players and ME for semi-pro's, Its just monumental task.

Tried the demo yesterday and uninstalled it after five games because of it. Just endless passing no mistakes no midfield battles unbelievable..

Its true game still needs more battling and mistakes, but try starting game unemployed and set some league full detail and watch in games in full. There's missed passed and Interceptions but highlight system rarely shows them. It's remarkable how much more realistic football FM22 looks like in full match than FM21 example.

Far too many goals are scored in the first minute of the match. This applies both to matches simulated quickly and with full details. This is not the first edition with this issue, it would be appropriate to do something about it.

I can see this is favouring especially human players with extremely high tempo in tactic. If I remember right my friend was leading 3-0 after first 10 minutes. Its a bit depressing to see how easily/unrealistically underdogs are crushed. And no this wasn't the first time these goals came at starting 20 minutes.

  13. Interesting topic in my opinion which should be looked more closely to make this game harder. Like you know to answer this games result it would need a lot more data and even then it would be a guess :D My guess before these is that RM has won many games before you and management played you down causing overconfidence and sloppynes. In any case I would look for answer what RM did wrong because thay got so huge attribute advantage. Sorry ;) anyway great victory and numbers doesn't lie ;)

    Both teams:

    - Statistics of the match / .pkm

    - Tactics

-Team talks (we don't get access to opponents)

    - training schedules of the month

    - schedules

  14. In this feature player could select number of individual selections what they want to see or don't want to see when watching a match. These could be very short highlights just like bits of information to show what really happen at the field and where. This would make match experience look like more complete and balanced if you want more info or just you could get rid the highlight you don't want to see.

    Some examples:

    1) Individual players actions in a game. You could select a player and highlight system would follow that player and show the thing you want to see. example interceptions, won headers, special moves like one twos or just one touch passes etc etc.

    2) Team actions. Won possession, Lost possession etc. etc. Opposition passes into space, your passes into space.

    3) Selectable collection of highlights from players activity at the field. Good or bad you could select those and see them afterwards. like example "Harry Kane highlight package". This addition could be also used as a peak to scouts eyes. Scout could watch a game and highlight system would record the thing you want to know from player at the field.

  15. In FM22 ME I like to see changes what is made to mistakes and player movement. Also things like wide defending and how and what tempo game flows head to head. Still at the moment my playing times have dropped from 1000's of hours to 300 because next lines I'm going to write.

MY Personal problem with the FM22 and I think against the whole series is:

    >> Lack of challenge, and this is because of (In my eyes) one or two things.

    1) AI and ME just can't produce a game day where you can mess things up big time. AI can't make big enough mistakes or correct them because the way game is build around realistic numbers being possible. At the moment AI and ME need to behave in a way the FM footballing world looks like realistic in numbers and that's a huge challenge when thinking how well AI can react inside matches.

    2) Training and match preparations do not have big enough effect to match days. I mean now you can make 100 tactical changes as a human player and your players are just "Sir yes SIR". This gives huge edge against AI who needs to play against human with same tools it plays agains AI to give realistic numbers and match/league results. Match preparations should dictate how much you can make tactical decisions inside the match.

Anyway. I always want to remain positive but I've one wish for SI. As a manager let us and ofc AI make bigger mistakes. Add there more chaos decisions because making a mistake we can really see is honest. :D

I think the OP asked an opinion from us and while I surely agree downloading the demo and making one by his own is a good suggestion, I think it's a little bit of avoiding the annoyement to make a stand, and tell to the OP what we think of FM22.

Personally, if you already own FM21, I can't see one single reason for you to purchase FM22.

I purchased every boxed copy of FM since FM05 till FM22. I love the game, I'm particulary fond to it and I have probably the greatest VGaming memories thanks to it. I spent thousands of hours of enjoyement along more than a decade on it across nights and days. FM is probably one of the reason I decided to make the further step and become a real coach (grassroots level eh.... but hey that's a demanding role!).

But for the first time EVER I don't feel like playing it. I wondered myself what happened, and the answer was boredom. I feel like playing the same game since.. maybe 7 years? maybe more? Once you install the game you'll realise you're going to do the same things, hitting the same buttons, clicking the same amount of times your mouse and making the same choices you did for years. The intro screen is the same as the past year. The options are the same. The leagues are the same, you begin your career and the news page is the same as ever. And then you have to download patches and logos and faces and maybe a new modded skin to make it more enjoyable at your eyes. But the skin isn't supported and you suffer crash dump, until the day a new patch is released and probably you need further workarounds if you want to keep playing FM in a more realistic way. Go with Zebre, and ATM or FLA or CRU. Trainings are the same, great stuff I enjoy a lot planning trainings, but you can't save an yearly training plan so at every season you have to start from scratch. And waste time with interactions, reading lines on lines on lines for answering. And than make your tactic, just pick one, start a game and again, same stadiums, same players, same nets, same refs, same pitches, same light, same commentary (I think... I never read it haha!), same matchday graphic! (if you don't play Bundesliga, that indeed has a lovely graphic!). Yeah we have tablets and shouts and instructions one click away. Shortcuts. Useful, but shortcuts.

I love FM21. it's great, it has a super ME and I consider it probably among the 2-3 best FM ever made since SI established. But Data Hub and a couple of new roles, for me, is not enough to justify a full purchase.

That said, I hope I'll find someday what I've been losing lately, I hope for the sake of FM and SI they make huge changes in the future with the UI especially but the game in general.

I would love to feel and indeed see I'm playing a new game.

A lot of same thoughts even though there's some things in ME I like to see changing like wide defending and how and what tempo game flows head to head. Still at the moment my playing times have dropped from 1000's of hours to 300 because next lines I'm going to write.

You might think, wow. That left winger for them must be good. High off the ball, first touch, long shots, finishing, technique.

It's their centre half.  (why they put the centre half at LW i don't know) WELL i thought i didnt. Until he scored this. So yeah, best inside forward in the game below guys.
