Played 5 games with 19.1 and it's nice but also think that now the tempo and directness is over the top. I'm playing control possesion with slow tempo and short passing and now it's just to many direct long passes that look great but aren't exactly what I want my team to play. I did also see some nice through balls in the final 3rd which is nice.

ME is on steroids now. :D

Pretty happy with the update. My defensive wingers are still dribbling diagonally toward the corner flag and crossing. I'm assuming it's the run wide with ball player instruction which for some reason is locked in.

No one ever dribbles toward the corner flag to cross, it just doesn't happen in real life.

Agreed. Just can't get my head around this. What's the logic behind this behavior of wide players?

Anyone else think "get creative", "demand more" and "show some passion" shouts are OP:

I'd be interested to know what tactical affects the shouts have exactly. Does get creative increase creative freedom for example?

That's interesting. I would also like to know how much creative freedom is reduced/increased if we use 'Be more disciplined' and 'Be more expressive' TIs?

  4. After watching 2-3 matches in full, here are my initial observation about the 19.1 ME:

    - Players are attempting lot more forward passes.

    - The wingbacks will still attempt to dribble wide and attempt crosses unless you add some PIs (dribble less, cross less often, hold position, take fewer risks) to restrict that. I still don't think 'Run wide with ball' should be hard-coded.

    - Players are defending lot more aggressively. Tackles are flying in with accuracy even without the 'Get stuck in' TI.

    - The players are trying to 'counter' in transition even with 'Hold shape' TI active. This could be due to the ME change in passing risks.

    - Tempo seems high even on the lowest tempo setting. I'll test this more with 'Be more disciplined' TI to see if they follow my instructions to kill the tempo.

Overall the ME is better than the previous iteration but still needs balancing. I'll post more once I've watched few more matches in detail.

Really irritating how 'runs with with ball' is hardcoded into so many full back and wing back roles this year, along with 'cross more often'. There is not a single role or duty in the wing back strata that does not have 'run wide with ball' or 'cut inside with ball' hardcoded. I want a possesion based system that doesn't cross much with attacking full backs but that's just impossible as the game currently is. Full backs constantly running away from support then sending big looping crosses into the box is not the style of football I want. Why are player instructions even hardcoded anyway? Let us change them if we want to

That's a very annoying and unnecessary change this year in my opinion. Why would I want my supporting wingbacks to 'run wide with ball' all the time? And also why have all the 'automatic' duties also have those hardcoded instructions? I guess to help AI but then that's the reason AI goes cross crazy in the first place.

I'm still in my first season, so I think it was possibly due to the World Cup hangover effect. I'm keeping an eye on it as I go into the next season and will see what happens. I don't like to cry 'bug' every time something happens that I don't like...

Davy klaassen is feeling jaded in my save in October. Netherlands didn't even play in the world cup, Bremen is not in Europe and I didn't play him in the cup games.

  7. This is not a dig at private beta testers or anyone in general but I'm really worried about the current state of the ME. I didn't post anything after FM18 beta release and I've been playing FM18 non-stop for a year. I've been forced to post in this forum this year to raise my concern at the dysfunctional nature of tactical module of the game. I really don't want to spend my time here, believe me. Just want to play the game.

    4.  It is still impossible to sell Ramsey and Welbeck which I find bananas and frustrating (have always found the difficulty in selling players the only thing not realistic in FM). If you put Ramsey on the market at £10m there would be loads of clubs interested. As it stands no one was interested

Ramsey's and Welback's high wages means not many clubs can afford them even if the transfer fee is low. And the clubs that can afford them may have better options available to them.

Yes... I dont mind if the number of injuries stay the same, or more (hopefully tracking real life fairly closely)

Match day injuries are far more harmful tho, ending game with 9 men + walking wounded 10 times in a season is hard to manage. Training injuries are a nuiscance but not as likely to cost points.

    This post may contain exaggeration.

I'm scared to death using all my substitutions early as I've had a player permanently injured after the 3rd substitution on multiple occasions.

But I agree that overall injury rate should stay the same, except the match day injuries.

Yeah so many crosses. I hope they can get the balance right for release. 73 crosses while playing 3-5-2? 1 cross every 50 seconds of the match?  Weird stuff

73 crosses in 90 minutes is 1 every 50 seconds?  Think you need to redo your maths, although agreed it does still seem high

It's my tactics people. I can't blame the ME here. I'm happy with what I saw.

Schalke were playing a narrow formation and were in red hot form (top of the league), so I defended very narrow and conceded the wings on purpose by completely shutting down the center. They had no other way to breach my defence so they went cross crazy which my two decent jumpers (Langkamp and Veljkovic) just about handled. My GK Pavlenka is also 6'5". All their chances were from headers mostly. With the ball, we tried to be patient as I have a highly technical midfield and forward line. You can see that from 58% possession.

I would also like to add that their manager Dominico Tedesco has an 'Attacking' playing mentality, 'More Urgent' pressing style, and 'Uses intense pressing', 'Uses counter pressing' as tendencies. You now have an idea how they like to play in FM.

Regarding the injuries & I'm in the same boat seeing a high number of frustrating injuries but I've 3 saves on the go, Celtic, Liverpool & Bayern

Celtic, I'm not playing a high intensity tactic & not getting anything above normal injuries

Liverpool, I'm playing a high intensity tactic but don't use it for 90 mins each game & my ass man has a lot of rest on the training schedule. I'm probably getting the normal amount of injuries in this save

Bayern, a high intensity tactic, can't remember what the ass man does for training & getting a fair few injuries on this one, two of the casualties are Robben & Ribery so that doesn't surprise me much

Are people going balls the wall with tactics & training to get above normal injuries as in high intensity or are the players getting some rest-bite somethwere?

I'm not having any issues with injuries as well. I'm currently managing the training myself and keep the training intensity normal/balanced. Normal and expected injuries so far. No problem.

This is Bremen (me, predicted to finish 12th) vs Wolfsburg (predicted to finish 7th) in the 7th game of my first Bundesliga season. As you can see, they had:

    0 shots on target

    0 shots off target

    0 blocked

    0 woodwork

    0 half chances

    0 clear cut chances

    0 long shots

They also had 41% possession and 490 attempted passes in total, so it's not like I just kept the ball for the 90 minutes. They had a red card but that was in the 71st minute. Something is making teams overpowered very quickly after starting the season. Too easy?? Very much so in my opinion.

I would like to add that I have done nothing extra-ordinary (no cheats or exploits whatsoever, never download them). Just my own very simple balanced 5-3-1-1 system against a superior opponent. May be training effect is overpowered? May be AI just can't handle the high intensity pressing?

Having said all that, the ME is best by far. The defending now is very realistic and if the issue of AI becoming weak very quickly/humans becoming overpowered very quickly is fixed, this will the best FM in the series by far.

Alright so an update on this. Playing with same tactic, in the next match we faced Schalke away (who were top of the league). They absolutely smashed us but we held our nerves, scored a goal on the counter and won the game 0-1, classic Mourinho style. Really liked what I saw. Schalke didn't give us anything. Very challenging and difficult match.

I think the current difficulty issue could be about in-form teams being too powerful. Btw, I'm just trying to find out what could be causing teams to go on unbeaten runs.

Oh and they got frustrated in the end and broke my best player's (Gebre Selassie) leg which has ruled him out for 4-5 months. Beautiful!

This won the German cup and the second division first season with HSV and now top of the league after 9 games Bundesliga so stopped using it.

These are the kind of things that kill the fun. I can understand winning with 3 strikers tactics or whatever ME exploits tactics are there is cheating but it shouldn't be this easy with preset or standard tactics for the lower reputation teams.

I would be impressed with this but the clear cut chances created - considering the opposition - seems very low. It may be tiki-taka but it doesn't look like a particularly effective version. Were the players just passing around to each other in the centre circle?

Mentality: Balanced, Attacking width: Balanced, HB, RPM and CM(A) in the center, 2 FBs (automatic), 2 IFs (support) and a false 9.  Majority of passing was among 3 CMs and 2 FBs. CBs and F9 hardly involved.

I'm just trying out my own custom tactical styles at the moment to compare with the preset tactical styles.
