September 24th: Southampton (a) EFL Cup 3rd Rd Another good start saw us taking the lead on the 8th minute as A.Xhepa headed in a K.Jardine cross at the near post. Soon after though Southampton had their first chance with a curling effort which stung the fingers of K.Swaby. On the 20th minute we added another goal with M.Vandamme jinked his way through the defence and slotted in under the keeper. The goal seemed to put the wind in Southampton's sails and on the 35th minute they pulled a goal back as B.Vranckx hit home from ten yards to give my keeper no chance of saving. With a minute remaining in the half Southampton were reduced to ten men after Y.Messaoudi was given his second yellow car followed by the red. The second half was all my side though as we took advantage of our numeral difference and on the 58th minute O.Scherbakov fired in our third goal with a curling shot into the top corner. Twelve minutes later it was four nil with O.Scherbakov grabbing his second of the game with a well struck effort low into the goal. On the 79th minute we the chance of grabbing a fifth goal as A.Grossi failed to convert from the penalty spot after J.Ashmeade was brought down in the area Southampton 1-4 Man Utd B.Vranckx 35 / A.Xhepa 8, M.Vandamme 20, O.Scherbakov 58, 70 K.Swaby, L.King, T.Franco, J.Smith, P.Lane, A.Xhepa, L.Guglielmi (S.Pino), D.Leonardi, M.Vandamme, K.Jardine (A.Grossi), O.Scherbakov (J.Ashmeade)
