  1. Hello Zachary! Sorry to bother you, a few pages back I complained about the limited involvement of the AMC in the game's creation. However, lately, my AMC is much more involved and providing assists, operating as an AP-su in a 'very wide' TI tactic. I was wondering if it's due to my tactics or if the latest update has brought some changes, albeit minimal, to the ME.
  2. This delightful play is straight from FM 2017. This is precisely what's missing in the current match engine (actually, more or less from FM18 onward), as @akkm explained in detail. Yes, it can happen, but it's extremely rare, to the point of being almost nonexistent. In most cases, when the ball reaches that area of the field, the player either takes a long shot or recycles the ball out wide. They fail to "see" the pass. This significantly reduces the usefulness of AMC because to have a greater impact in creating chances, they need to move laterally – something they don't do often enough. Through balls like this typically occur from deeper positions (the mezzalas are particularly good at this). The ironic part is that through balls from that position are even HARDER irl. Now, does this rarely happen irl, too? Yes, of course, but it's not THAT rare. Is this a game-breaking issue or makes it unplayable? Absolutely not. I believe this ME is the best in years, and I'm having a lot of fun. But isn't it still worth discussing? If the developers could improve this aspect of the ME, it would just be another step in making the entire experience more enjoyable and realistic, right?
  3. Ok, found it! Thank you very much! Unfortunately, the second map is not showing who made the assists, but who's scoring goals. It'd have been more useful for my experiments if it did, but oh well.
  4. The problem is this area of the field. I know you don’t use an AMC, so that’s why it’s zero… well, try using one and you’ll see. Barely nothing happens there. (By the way, how’s the second map called in-game?)
  5. I would go as far as to say that I skipped FM22 and FM23 and played FM mobile instead… because the match engine felt more realistic! I’m not kidding. Sure, you can only see 2D dots, but that’s never bothered me. And I actually enjoyed watching a game on FMM more than on the “true” version. Maybe at times, simple is better.
  6. If what you're saying it's true, and your AMC(A) really did 16 assist in open play, I'd really, really like to know how you did it since I've been doing lots and lots of experiments to make the AMC perform better, and I've never had that much success! But it's not enough for me to see your tactic, I want to watch your games, too. Could you please share your save with me?
  7. I mean, you're not wrong. But on the other hand, you're not completely right, either. Nobody's saying that the game is broken (though corners are OP and I think we've had enough proof of that with the Goalkeeper example a few comments before) but chance creations from the middle of the final third could certainly be improved.
  8. LOL!! How much does he even have in the corners attribute? I know it's hidden for GKs, but I doubt it's high. That's what I meant earlier when I said that corners are OP.
  9. Paulino De La Fuente: winger; Djouara: winger; Braithwate: striker-winger; Chapela: winger; Miguel Baeza: AM L/R/C Romario Ibarra: winger Tony Moya: CM Loureiro: wingback Carlos Lazo: winger Marco DaGraca: striker Corpas: right-back, right winger Olivàn: left-back Luis Pérez: right-back Edu Exposito: CM From that list of players, only two play as CM, and one of them is your player. Only ONE of them can play as ACM (Miguel Baeza) but he can also play as a winger on both flanks, so he's probably playing there, too. And this is what I told you earlier: And I also wrote: As you can see, therefore, you haven't disproven what I said earlier. In fact, you've confirmed it. So, in your league, there are few teams playing with wingbacks, or at least relying more on their wingers. In Serie A, there are many more teams that play with only full-backs on the flanks, so they prevail in the assist rankings. The point is that in this ME (but for years now, actually), the overwhelming majority of assists come from the flanks, or to a lesser extent, from deep positions (CM - DCM). Occasionally from the strikers, too. But the AMCs are useless as playmakers. They mostly make assists from corners and free-kicks. I mean, I've run countless tests; COUNTLESS. I'm not saying this based on perception, but on raw data.
  10. Hang in there, I think I've found the solution(s). Currently doing more tests to confirm my findings.
  11. @Dadecane @DarJ Case in point, here's the leaderboard for assist-makers in my current save: The top is Chalanoglu, playing as a CM for Inter - coincidentally, he's also leading in the expected assists for set pieces. Dimarco, Di Lorenzo, Dumfries are full-backs. Brekalo is a winger. Not a single one of them plays as an AMC in their team. And if we look at the key passes leaderboard, it's even more apparent: Dumfries, Dimarco, Di Lorenzo, Ruggeri, Hernandez... they're all wingbacks. Once again, no AMC.
  12. Yeah, I'm sure that's true for you, because you probably don't like to play on the flanks, and that's cool! But as I replied earlier to Darj:
  13. There you have it. If you remove the corners, he'd be making about 3 - 4 assists per season. Maybe a bit more, but that's the average. If you want him to make even more, give the instruction to make forward runs to ONE of your DMS. That'll make your AMC shift a bit to the side, where he'll be able to make more assists. I've done countless tests. It appears evident to me that most assists come from the flanks or from deep, very very rarely from just outside the penalty box. So you want your AMC to be in one of the "hot zones". Of course, that only applies if you're as obsessed as I am and want to see more incisive passes and creative plays from your AMC in open play. If your tactic is already bringing you satisfaction, there's no reason to change it - everyone plays as they want! Thank you very much for sharing your tactic, btw!
  14. AMCs have no problem scoring - heck, a Shadow Striker might even score more than your forwards. My concerns are mainly about assists. If I had to guess, I'd say your AMC is also taking corners and free kicks - or you're already using one of the "tricks" I've discovered. But for the sake of my "study", would you mind sharing your tactics? (Also mentioning the AMC's role, duty and PIs). It would be a great help! EDIT: maybe privately, since we don't want to clog up this thread, which is for general game feedback.
  15. Just check the top assist-men of your league right now. I have zero doubts most of them will be full-backs and wingers.
  16. Yeah, the thing with full-backs is a bit immersion-breaking, but it has been going on for so long that I kinda got used to it. What I really can't accept is AMCs having so little impact in the game. I've been making lots of tests for that very reasons. Good news is, there ARE a few solutions. Once I'm done I'll create a thread to help everyone like us who'd love for the number tens to perform better.
  17. Let me explain better: yes, the corner kick numbers are within the norm. Apparently. The thing is, this happened while I was testing a tactic to see if I could increase the AMC's ability to make assists. To test this tactic, I assigned all set pieces to Cancelo to make sure that all my AMC's assists at the end of the season came from active play. This made me discover that WHOEVER the designated set-piece taker is, at the end of the season, they'll have between 10-15 more assists. ALWAYS. It doesn't even matter how good they are at taking them. And I didn't even use special set-piece routines. I can say this after several tests in different teams and nations. That seems like a number a bit out of the ordinary to me. Add to that the fact that full-backs in FM, for several years now, are the most prolific assist-makers, even in AI-managed teams... So, Cancelo easily reaches 26 assists per season. Not normal numbers for a full-back. The most creative players ever (Messi, Ozil, Muller, and others) have even reached 30 assists in a single season... But for a full-back, these seem like abnormal numbers, especially if all it takes to achieve them is having them take corner kicks.
  18. Pal, it's evident you're not following Serie A. Allegri's Juventus is currently at the top of the table and wins ALL the matches like that.
  19. Corners are way too OP!! Joao Cancelo made TWENTYSIX assists in 33 matches, and at least 15 are from corners.
  20. Yeah, it's possible if you use an asymmetric formation (I just can't, I'm too obsessive for that kind of stuff) or with positional play (if you use a forward who comes deep, or a midfielder who makes forward runs). BUT this means the AMC will only play on THAT flank, left or right. He won't move from one flank to the other, to make himself a pass option wherever the game develops, as a ten irl would. And without positional play or an asymmetric formation, he'd behave as I said, no matter how expressive you let him be.
  21. I agree completely. At the moment, the central attacking midfielder just... sits there in the middle, or makes forward runs if you ask him to. But there are zero horizontal movements, even if you give him the instructions "move into channel" and "free roam". Golden age Dybala was all around the pitch, he was basically everywhere, and that's what you'd expect from someone with the free roam PI. This issue is somewhat solved by positional play since you can make him move to more lateral areas of the field where he can be more effective. But it would be great to see a lot more movement from the team's main creative player.
  22. I'm sure that goals in Premier League are correct, and everywhere else are not, because you're only simulating the Premier with full detail. Leaving aside the realism of simulated data with QME, I would advise everyone to simulate as many leagues as possible in full detail - it makes long-term saves more realistic and engaging.
