Will keep an eye on this thread

I am in my sixth season on my Colombia save and I still don’t know how it all works

I assume there are two league titles up for grabs every year.

All you have to do is finish in the top 8 and you could still win the title as you go into a mini league of 4 teams and then a posssible final

I have also assumed that the final league table is irrelevant

Only a concern if you are fighting relegation. ……and even then it’s averaged over 3 years

it’s also annoying as a lot of under 21 players can be away at international tornmaments at crucial times

Yeah, the rules are actually relatively simple, it's just hard getting your head round the fact that there isn't just 1 single winner at the end of the season. I've got there now though.

The biggest problem I'm getting isn't U21 players going on International duty during competitive games. It's senior Internationals going on competitive games during the Semi-Final Group stages and Finals.

I'm playing a Youth Only save so I can't just go out and buy backups.

The League table is also used for who qualifies for South American competitions though so depending on the circumstances you do need to keep an eye on it, (as I found out last season).

The winners of the 2 leagues and the Cup get the top 3 South American spots and then 4th - 8th get the other spots.

First of all, thank you for reporting the error in such detail. We are already trying to fix it

Then, just one comment for you to keep in mind, in Colombia there is no "betplay league champion". There are only 2 league titles per year (opening and closening). The "betplay league champion" is actually the winner of the supercopa of the following year.

Thanks very much for clarifying this.

I sort of knew this at the outset, (or at least certainly knew that there were 2 separate titles awarded for the individual league titles), but I think that as I started playing the save I fell back into thinking about the old "European Style" of leagues and forgot that this is completely different in Colombia. It's something that I have only realised fully subsequently and something I have to keep reminding myself of.

It's made more difficult to do this because there is an "Overall League Table", but of course that's only used to decide on average points for relegation, and to determine the minor places for which clubs play in South American Continental competition.

I just need to keep telling myself to ignore the Overall League table because it effectively means nothing. (It's hard though).

  3. Hi @Kyle BrownSorry to be a pain but I have noticed another problem linked to this.

I have just received this message.

    ae67d391564ed8680ae1fe10840990fe.png

The only problem is that it's not our 2nd title. It's our 4th. The game is only counting the Liga Finalización Finals we've won, (2027 & 2032), and isn't counting the 2 Liga Apertura Finals we won, (2030 & 2031).

    46cae8f4f36b010a43369242229015db.png

The game isn't counting the 1st League Phase because that's not the way that "European" leagues work. There are 2 distinct titles to be won each season and both need to be counted equally. It's easy to miss stuff like this because it's so alien to the way our European leagues work and It's taken me 9 seasons to really start to get my head around it.

I can upload saves for this if needed, but you should be able to track this from any of the saves I've already uploaded.

If you need another one, feel free to ask though.

  4. Hey @Daniel Dionisiif you have knowledge of Colombian football, maybe you could help me.

I actually don't think the 2nd part of this is as big a deal as I initially thought.

I think the 2 League Trophies available are the Liga Apertura and the Liga Finalización and there isn't actually a trophy awarded for the overall Liga Dimayor.

I "think" that the Overall League table is just used to calculate who plays in what Continental competition the following season and obviously who gets relegated, (with an average points over 3 seasons).

I "think" this 2nd bug is simply the game extracting the info from the wrong location for a new item. It's taking the goals conceded from the overall league table rather than either for the Liga Apertura or Liga Finalización tables, (so it's actually far less iif a big deal than the original bug where the points earned in 2nd leg of Finals are not allocated if you lose the tie).

The other thing of course now is that if the overall league table isn't as significant as I initially thought, (because I'm used to European style leagues), then does it really matter if the points are not that accurate if there is no trophy at stake?

I actually think it probably quite easy to fix, but it's also far less important than I initially thought.

    Do you agree?

  5. There is a further development on this.

I've just finished the season and although we won the Overall League, we lost the Liga Finalización Final. Because of that, the game thinks that we haven't won the league at all.

We won the Liga Apertura Final, (despite not winning the league).

    a30ae462f430e393bf6772d2d7c6e19f.png

We lost the Liga Finalización Final, (and that's fine).

    9a2b1abdd965cfd42f25f1c0bfe098c8.png

But we absolutely did win the Liga Dimayor,

    4621203184520aa540122219f5450231.png

Because we've lost the Final, the game thinks we haven't won the league.

    e257949fb7a14a5ca9bca2fa69aad072.png

The game is confusing the Phase 2 Champions with the overall Champions.

If it wants to tell me that I haven't won the Liga Finalización Final then I'm fine with that, (because we lost in the Final), but it's telling me we haven't won the league, (by virtue of using the number of points we won in the league), and we also didn't get any points for the drawn game in the Liga Finalización Final 2nd leg. :(

  6. Hey @Kyle BrownJust to clarify exactly what this problem is....

It relates only to the Finals at the end of the Liga Apertura and Liga Finalización stages.

The problem is that points earned in the 2nd leg of either Finals, (whether 1 point or 3 points for a win), are not counted unless the team also wins the 2-legged tie itself.

The game obviously things that because the tie was lost, no points need to be given. It's looking at the result of the tie rather than the result of the individual game.

  7. Hi @Zachary Whyte Thanks for getting back to me. Are you sure about that?

You, (SI), have banged on and on and on and on about making our life easier, and now, something which we could do in previous versions of the game, can only be done if we do a whole new set of things that not everyone is interested in. Are you sure that this has been fully thought through? It just doesn't fit with everything else you're doing. It's backwards. :(

We believe this is an issue we resolved in one of our previous updates, but do let us know if you ever spot it again.

Hi @Kyle BrownI'm in 2039 and this is still happening every season.

I am still continuing the save I started in the Beta though, so if this is something that would only be resolved in a new save then I wouldn't know.

Thanks for the context, out of interest what's their annual revenue?

Maybe what's missing from FM is the intervention from the Chairman in that case to keep clubs solvent.

Bromley started with a £200k balance at the beginning of the game so presumably they're also being propped up by a backer.

My concern is that level of sustained losses, without the external backing in a few seasons the transfer activity while grind to a halt.

It's really hard to to you what the total annual revenue is, because Barnet is an unusual business model and everything is separated.

In case you don't know, the club moved away from Barnet a few years ago to play matches at their "training complex" The Hive.

The standard business model at your average National League club is that income is generated from season tickets, gate receipts, sponsorship, merch, match day sales etc etc etc. All the usual sources of income.

Barnet isn't typical though. In addition to all of the above, despite being a National League side, they have a training complex, (quite local to Wembley), which is of good enough standard that International sides like Brazil and Italy, (just 2 of many), pay to train there. In addition to that, we have a whole 45 acres of synthetic/grass pitches for hire and 13 different bars/function room. On top of that there is a successful wedding venue operating at the site, (again owned by the owner of the football club), a full gym open to the public, and a 500 seater car-park, (charging £8 per pop) that also funds the football club indirectly. It also hosts the most advanced sports medical scanning unit in Europe. All of this generates income, and the idea is that this in turn funds the football club.

Whether you consider that these business, (all owned by the owner of the Football club), are separate or linked to the football club, (for example all the foot/drink sold on matchday goes to 1 of these catering companies rather than the football club), is irrelevant, because according to the football authorities, the way that the business'a are operated is such that were there to be a salary cap based on income, (as has been proposed), the the income of all these sub-companies would be allowed to be included.

So in answer to your question, "where is the intervention of the Chairman/Board?" I have had huge investment in my Spanish save in FM23. £3.9M over the 1st 4 seasons in the 3rd Tier in Spain. Depending on your Chairman/Board, they will provide funding for the club if you're running at a loss, but how much they invest depends on them. It's variable. Even a Chairman/Board who don't invest heavily will invest some money & at some point will probably consolidate the debt into a loan at some point to repay it over a longer period.

    28ca1d328bf9026296061f96a62651be.png

I also checked other clubs in my league and in the 1st 2 seasons Owners/Boards had invested £5.5M into clubs to keep them running, and 2 clubs had already consolidated existing debts within the 1st 2 years of the save.

The biggest problem with the National League is the 2 up/down to/from League 2, when there are 4 teams relegated to National League North/South, and also 4 teams promoted from League 2 to League 1. This in effect creates a bottle-neck in the National League and as a result the standard of the National league is now ridiculously high. Maul Mullin is just 1 shining example of a player, (top goal-scorer of a promoted League 2 side), deciding to drop down effectively 2 leagues to play in the National League, but even after all their spending there is still no guarantee that Wrexham will get promoted this season, (because I personally think Notts Co will win the league and the Playoffs are a lottery.

2 of the bottom 4 in the National League now are Scunny & Oldham, (who were the 2 relegated teams from League 2 last season).

Now look at the bottom half-dozen or so clubs in League 2 and they are all averaging less than 1 point per game. Whicher of them get relegated will find the National League just as unforgiving next season. Clubs are playing players who should be playing higher, and are paying them a premium because they are asking them to drop down. The premium is also bigger than it might otherwise be because there is just 1 auto-promotion spot so everyone is literally pumping money in, but there are only 2 clubs going to get promoted so there are going to be lots of clubs who have invested and invested year on year but have got nowhere.

People used to say the English Championship was the toughest league to get out of. I think the National League is tougher.

There is lots of thinking "outside the box" done in the National league and Wealdstone for example funded the signing of Max Kretzschmar 100% on the back of direct fan investment. A group was formed to raise money and offered this support to the club for the signing of a player and then when the player was identified the group either paid the club the funds up front or gave legally binding declarations to pay the required sum over the set period of the contract.

Robin Stanton-Gleaves is the owner at Bromley and the 1st wiki link I could find suggested that he has a total net worth of £181M. Rich owners tend to not just put cash into a football club though. They can afford to. They just choose not to. Instead they use their wealth as a guarantee that the debt will at some point be repaid.

  10. Losing £500k per year isn't actually a big deal for a Conference club @dannyfc

I'm a Barnet fan and our Chairman, (and his other business' at The Hive), subsidises the football club to the tune of £1M per season.

3 years ago the minimum prize money for a League 2 club was £472,000 per season and there is also a payment, (with funds from Premier League clubs), amounting to £430,000 per season. (Again, this was 3 years ago so these figures are likely to have risen).

So that's a difference in income straight away of about £900,000 when you get relegated, (and the parachute payments stop).

From my point of view, a National League/Conference side losing £500k per season is on the conservative side, (but just my opinion as a fan of a National League/Conference side).

  11. Had some internet issues last night while uploading but I think I managed to get the following saves uploaded.

Give me a shout if any didn't go through properly.

  12. Hi Kyle. Thanks for looking at this.

Today is actually Youth Intake Day #4 in 2026 so let me update you.

This is the preview for this season.

    d752c2cbc173200d00aa403272bedc6c.png

This is what we actually got.

    57c6baf099b4c889712d0c0b74a3593c.png

I think you would agree that's quite a big difference from preview to intake.

    I've loaded the following saves.

1st I have uploaded the 4 saves made on the Youth Intake itself.

2nd I have uploaded the 1st save made after the preview each season, (should be Jan).

If you need anymore, (such at the save before either the preview or the intake itself), then please feel free to ask. I am keeping monthly saves at the moment and will retain them for a while.

I haven't got Jan 2023, (sorry), so I have uploaded feb 2023 instead.

  13. I've been looking at the finances in my league in more detail and I'm afraid it really doesn't look good, even after just 2 seasons.

    c4cf591530839f44ce36cbdb3b354e35.png

The general trend, (if we ignore B Teams), is overwhelmingly that they're not financially viable even if they stay within their wage budgets, and only 2 clubs other than ourselves have done that.

The boards of these non-B Teams have already invested £4.5M into these clubs to help with the running costs, (in just the 1st 2 seasons of the save), and 2 clubs have already consolidated their debts into loans and obviously continue to have the same problems now because on top of the standard expenditure that they couldn't cope with they now have loan repayments.

I appreciate that in this climate money is tight at many football clubs, and especially at this level, but for the game to work the financial model has to work even if this is accurate and it doesn't work in real life.

You have to remember that there is another playable level below this and things seems in a similar state there.

I checked Melila in the 4th tier and their budgets were very similar to ours, but they were just spending over their budgets, had missed out on promotion for the 2nd season running and were no building up a sizeable debt.

Is this really how you intended the finances at this level to work?

Could we have a list of what achievements have been unlocking incorrectly, please?

I have unlocked 19 achievements so far. The only 1 I have identified as not being valid is the one related to a Network game, (as mentioned by @BDRick35). I know it's not valid because I haven't played a network game. It happened on the 1st day of release I think, (certainly early), and I couldn't work out what if anything had triggered it.

    This is the one.

    089dca8d1f9189e1b982ab268b220ca5.png

I posted about it in my thread dated Sep 2022, but I can't tell you exactly when it was triggered because unfortunately the link to steam doesn't work so although you can see your recently triggered achievements, when you try to click on them so that you can see them all and the date/time they were triggered, the screen takes you to your recent activity on Steam but there are no FM23 achievements shown. I'm hoping that this is just because we're playing a demo and it will be resolved once the full game has been released.

    a37d83ee97a0657621811f539769af0d.png

I've uploaded a few saves around that time but I can't remember which ones so these might help.
