Thanks for replies/comments. I acknowledge what I'm trying to do isn't optimal but I'm just looking to get the ball back into open play short, then maybe to guys on edge of area to either work into box or have a dig from there. My primary corner taker has Corners - 11, Technique - 12 which for Scottish League 2 is decent so in theory should be able to throw in decent deliveries. CBs are both Heading - 11, one of which 6'2 (Jumping reach 14), the other 5'11 but jumping reach 10 which for this league is ok. I'm obviously going to have to work up another routine to cater for the ball going into the box regardless. It was more in that. I was giving them one instruction and it was being blatantly ignored. Not just by one taker, as at least one of the others on the list was doing the same. So must be something in the ME as someone suggested? I'm the only team not to have scored from a corner routine - I've only been using my 'short' routine for last 5/6 games so 3/4 of the games where I had the big guys in and about produced nothing before that hence my thinking that if they weren't doing any good they could at least stay back and be in position to defend any counter.

Was getting fed up seeing corner after corner getting pumped into the box with nothing positive ever coming from it so decided to simplify and just have one routine either side, set up to short kick. However, whenever I see a corner routine for us, the players are set up as per my routine but the taker continues to just pump it in to the box, Don't understand why? Only have the one routine either side.

I've been thinking similar to this recently, a bit like the options Fifa gives depending on the teams mindset that allows you to set different formations/instructions.

Depends what his role is going to be and if you have space within your staff limits. If no space for whatever role your giving him you'll have to choose to get rid of someone or not hire him as staff.

Just develops naturally as they play more games together - been playing that system most of the season

Despite the long list of negatives (?) I'm having my most success with the flat 4-4-2 this year. Depending on the opponent / how the game is going I'll change around between short/direct passing and when going direct will hit early crosses. The CM(a) role has been tinkered with occasionally putting it on (s) duty or trying an AP there, after seeing some of the other replies here possibly BBM could be an option.

I don't mind conceding, saves on the clean sheet bonus'

Gotta player who has announced leaving at end of contract, basically wasn't featuring much the previous season, but was in the plans for this season but chat options didn't give anything for that. I've had the player involved and am coming up for the winter transfer window. His morale is perfect and he is happy with his playing time but he won't enter contract talks, still stating leaving at the end. Is there any chance he will change his mind cos, I'm thinking, if not, I'd be as well cashing in during the upcoming transfer window?
