It is a tough call, @samboing. If I’d started this save earlier I’d probably have managed both, but I’m already wondering how many more seasons I can get in before FM20 comes out? So it’s probably one or the other...

    Derby County or England?

I've always found that international management isn't really interesting enough on its own to carry a save, but perhaps it won't be as big a difference as it might be since you're not doing your own player recruitment in either case.

I’m hoping there’s a way to sort the FFP thing without a fine and without a fire sale of players... time will tell I guess...

I really wouldn't worry about it.  It often sorts itself out from extra income the module can't take into account very well--maybe you finish higher, maybe you go further in continental competition, maybe you bring in a little more commercial income.  And even if you end up paying the fine, you make so much money in the EPL that it doesn't really hurt.  I've had it happen once or twice and it didn't bite at all.

    I know, @kidthekid, it’s unbelievable!

Igor appears to have got us into a FFP mess. If we escape with just a fine I’ll maybe let him off, depending on how small or large the fine is, but if we end up with a points deduction I won’t be happy at all.

That’s assuming I still have a job. This Javi Suarez feller may want to bring in his own manager post takeover.

I'm personally rooting for Suarez to take over, because I think Igor could do great and terrible things with tycoon backing.

I'm not sure either. I don't have the Brazilian leagues loaded (mainly because I forgot about renaming the clubs) but I don't think that it would stop players being found. There doesn't seem to be much quality in Brazil at the moment and therefore I'm even more surprised.

It was his dead ball quality that has really made me want to sign him. We've struggled to bring through anybody from the academy with a decent starting attribute for those kind of things so it made sense that my marquee signing had them already.

As I said - I have missed out on him as he's moved to Sporting Lisbon after wanting upwards of £150k p/w to sign for us (but accepted £50k p/w there).

That's a shame.  Do you have anyone else on the radar, or is it just on with the (surprisingly good) season?

  5. That is really strange that nobody from Europe's signed Clerc, especially given that he's an either-footed midfielder which means he must have even higher CA than his attributes would make you think.  He's a bit of an interesting player, too--looks like he'd be the steel in the midfield, but then you look at that technique, dead ball skill, and first touch.  Either way, looks like a great and legitimate signing to me.  Only worry would be that for a DM, he's a little low on aggression and bravery.

  6. Another thing you could do is to warn players every single time they have a bad game (below 6.4 rating I think).  There's a chance that, if they accept the warning, their determination (and also possibly work rate) will go up.

Not sure if this is really all that realistic either, and it won't do anything about ambition or professionalism, but it might help at the margin.

    2-1 after the first leg

We go down 3-2 on aggregate

With 7 minutes to go, we draw level over the tie.  Extra time is a possibility

With the clock at 90+1 we concede

Heartbreak for the 148 fans who travelled to see us.

We were minutes away from the group stage of the Europa League.  Closer than last season where we threw the second leg away.

The only silver linings currently are that we will boost our coefficient and have boosted our finances again, but not enough to get another upgrade or go professional

Ouch.  Bit of a kick in the teeth there to fall at the last hurdle.  Still, your side ought to be better next year.

  8. Seems quite reasonable to me.  You already suffered through one unrealistic season of only having two recognized CBs on a Premier League team, and you're going to have to deal with three RBs and (very possibly) two starting-caliber GKs this season already.

Basically, until SI make an AI DoF capable of building a reasonable team, I think you're allowed to reject the most outlandish things the DoF tries to do.

  9. Tomori looks like his development stalled out a little since your Championship-winning season, but he's young enough to grow some more.  I assume you added him as a target because of the Derby connection--or did Igor have a brain wave?

Also, if I were you I'd be tempted to shift some of the transfer budget over to the wage budget.  I don't know if Igor can spend £60m in the transfer market while not also smashing past £900k/pw for the whole team's wages.
